The promise was made, the update is here.

Here are the first 15000 words of Black Crusade 10-2, as the battle for Cadia and the Monolith ramps up tens of thousands of light-years apart.

By my estimate, I've reached more than 33% of the planned work now (which is at slightly less than 20000 words total). I should definitely have the full chapter by mid-June, which is a good thing as the warm temperatures are coming, and it's not conductive for the poor Abominable Intelli-...forget the last sentence.

Here we go...

"there were no Necrons alive anymore" - good one!

Dominic

Dude, you are a writing machine, I honestly don't know how you do it. It's a lovely saturday afternoon and this will make sitting in the garden even nicer. Cheers!

"Cut the red string" lmao, I love it.

frank schellingerhout

all hail our writer who is of flesh and blood no AI here thx for the words as always

Aaron Kay

Welcome to Cadia. LMAO

Boris Michenski

Well, here we have a second asshole who got himself incinerated at the first PoV he got... honestly, he got even less mentions that first one... at least while 'alive'. Once again, I wonder if Nepherten and Trazyn have any means to observe what's happening. And if Trazyn would want to mention Simut in his Collection... or would he be too ashamed to be from same species... Cadia stands! Planet would break before her defenders do, and I don't think Chaos forces assaulting it have any means to do it - most of their forces are moving away. And i wonder where did Corax got the idea of red vire - it's soo from our time... Did Emperor give him a hint?! So, the chapter is expected to be around 60k? Great work, oh Great One! So, can we expect another update of about 28-30k next week?

RIP Simut of the Many Titles. Sic semper fatui. And well might Sobekhotep say 'Simut! Give me back my fleet!'

Gohu lacd

I don't know why, but this scene with Overlord Sobekhotep reminded me of this Cutscene in Total war rome 2, battle of teutoburg : "Varus... Ô! Quintillius Varus ... Give me back my legions !"

primus

There was some discussion of Teutoburg on AH if I remember correctly. That is apparently close to the real quote, and this is very much an intentional reference.

Antony444

Indeed, repeat after me, there is no AI here...nor are there Men of Iron. Trust Us.

Antony444

Welcome to Hell...or the next best thing we can organise on short notice.

Confused

Well Cadia certainly had time to roll out the welcome mat for Chaos I hope they leave a good review!

Forgottenone

I was rereading about chaos undivided (Which we all is not true) losing power and then remembered why chaos undivided came about. The simplest and basic truth is Chaos needs a great threat like the Emporer and other Chaos ending factions to force the daemons to not backstab each other. Now let's be honest a threat of that level does not currently exist in the 35M. I also suspect without Excess the former pact called chaos undivided now has loopholes. As said before no pact with chaos is worth a damn ever due to Jedi level "from a certain perspective." Especially if what power remained in chaos undivided was spent making Logars grand fleet. Now I am wondering what the other patron-less primarchs are going to do. More importantly which one going to join anarchy. Honestly surprised Khone has not gotten the corpse grinder to join him already.

I always thought zahndrakh was faking being loopy, purely because he hated what the necrons have become.

No aeronautica on Cadia other than dragon armors? No tanks? I recall Cadians having armored regiments.

Honestly I love this story. But all these reference to letting the galaxy burn is causing me to miss your other space opera. But I can wait until the muse wakes up with these snippets.

Antony444

Apart the Emperor, you're essentially correct...for now. But yeah, Chaos is very 'read the fine print, and oh the parchment burns' when it comes to pacts. The Grand Armada was built the old-fashioned way by the Dark Mechanicum, the ships built on daemon-matter in general don't survive long outside the Eye. As for the other Daemon-Princes, well the Black Crusade and the immediate aftermath are going to...register significant changes, shall we say?

Antony444

There are of course a lot of them...the POV shown there didn't have them.

Nicholas

Thank you! I was greatly struck by how closely Taylor's and Logar's attacks are paralleling each other. That makes me worried about what Logar's equivalent of “Mars, Thunderbolt, Avalanche, Typhon, Saturn and Prometheus is. Also, I hope Covax survives. He could do the Imperium a lot of good just by saying publicly on this issue the Emperor was wrong. That is not the same thing as saying the Emperor is not a God and refuting the idea that the Emperor is perfect would go a long way toward restoring the Imperial Truth.

Antony444

Lorgar is far less...how best to say it? Organised when it comes to unveiling his contingencies. In fact, the fewer people who know about them from his perspective, the better. What his minion-slaves don't know, they can't betray him for. Yes, joining team Chaos is hell on organisation and logistics...
