Here is the properly beta-ed chapter 82 of The odds were never in my favour, Light of Fourth Year. It is one of the two chapters pent at Hogwarts for Year 4.

I am currently writing a one-shot for the Impractical Guide to the Force, it should come up soon.

Enjoy!

Kind of a random question, but has anyone ever been a Champion of a Light and a Dark Power at the same time?

Antony444

No, there isn't. Light and Dark Magic have never mixed together, with usual fatal results for wizards or witches who try to do both, and in general, it happens very, very quickly. As for Champions, the Powers follow certain rules which prevent them from claiming a wizard/witch already claimed by another. Though it's rarely an issue, Light and Dark search for very different agents to fulfil their goals.

Thanks, I'll put my usual long review on fanfiction.net. I am curious if you are willing to share here. Is Susan and Alexandra's relationship being influenced by Alexandra being a Champion of Death? The Bones family's unique ability as necromancers seems like the kind of thing that might come from a ritual where the line swore fealty to Death. If so that would draw Susan to Alexandra.

Another good chapter. We see now our Antagonist, who has the best chances of driving Alexandra straight into the arms of Lady Morgane. other things to note in this chapter are: - using Fate to bind Nydhogg is not a good idea ... Might have something to do with Ra chaining Fate and ripping Excalibur out of it (okay that with Excalibur is just a guess, but it makes sense and neatly explains why it is so terrifying, everything cut by it is MEANT to be cut, that in turn makes Fragarach so much more awesome in turn.) - Nott being to stupid to live is nothing truly noteworthy, him using Alexandras Name of Fate is noted as is the obvious observation of Alexandra through some unknown Party. Now I just need to speculate about the surprises, just for the bragging rights: - Excalibur returns to Camelot. - The Queen walks rather enthusiastically through Camelot to get Excalibur back - Voldemort has a Heart Attack after a Hydra apparates behind him and hisses "Surprise" - whenever Longbottom sees Ra the divine voice in his head urges him to do random stuff (some of which would later be noted to be detrimental to Ra and his cause)

It has a minor influence, but not that much. The attraction the two feel for each other is not Power-based.
