Here is the complete chapter of Black Crusade 10-1 The Last Dawn (unbetaed of course). Chapter was sent to the betas a few days ago, normally it should be back for final corrections before the end of May...or so I hope.

I pulled less war and carnage in this chapter than I planned for a few weeks ago, but I think it is all for the better now. After all, escalation must be given time to grow...

But this is it. The galactic war has begun, and it's going to be epic.

Much like a certain cycle of Pavia and Commorragh, there will be two arcs of war...and that's all you're going to hear on the subject before [CLASSIFIED].

Okay, Chaos? Check. Orks? Check. Necrons? Check. Skavens? Check. Imperium? Check.

Let the galaxy burn...

Well that was a thing. I can totally see more Anarchy/Imperium alliances if they wanna dick around the forces of Chaos. I also hope Chaos gets mauled savagely before fighting Weaver. I would just love to see them get zapped by Necron firepower up until the super-heavy ships survive that catastrophe.

ZeroNu

Just saw this got dropped thanks so much for the hard work I look forward to reading it now.

Bel

Thank a lot, that was really interesting. There's a lot to unpack in this episode, but it's got some fascinating implications as we move forward. Corax and Malal's talk and the 'prophecy' has fascinating implications. I know Taylor isn't a Psyker in the traditional sense, but the prophecy and the talk the Emperor had with Sophia had me thinking again about Taylor ultimately taking the Emperor's place while he regenerates or heals himself. Yes, she is in no way ready for it since she doesn't have the power but as the Queen of Blades mentioned, the Anathema energies and Queen Administrator are doing things to Taylor and we might be able to see the beginning of that transformation here. Though I doubt you would tell us one way or the other:) I'm kind of sad that the Ork's have been whittled down that much, but glad they are going to go out fighting. Man, with every mention, we get some more information about how the pettiness of the Ultramarines kind of screwed themselves somewhat going forward. Pity we didn't get any information on Cawl's efforts regarding Guilliman, but that much Nocolith is a huge amount, especially considering what we saw the Pylon here doing.

Boris Michenski

You evil-evil Antony-thing! You made a double cliffhanger! DOUBLE!!! Or even triple in some ways, and I kinda wished some more carnage, well... You can't have everything. So Lorgar not only have his brother on board of his flagship, but also some Scavens... have fun. So Orks gained in fighting spirit and will probably tear most of opposong fleets apart trying to get to Taylor (wonder where Brukk Brukk is). Necrons are about to learn what World Flame is and have provided an commander sufficiently stupid to to go all way into trap. So Emperor provided with a rapid way to reach the battle, and Chaos apparently decided to reinforce Nightmare Tear in response... oh it gonna be bloody.

Damm what a beautiful seat up! You good talent! Live long and write many great chapters! A toast to you!!!

Mordred

CADIA STANDS!!! Even the chaos god's know this truth. I'm putting it down as one of my favourite moments so far, for Malal of all people/beings to say it was just brilliant.

Vortiboy27

I would love to see how much shit the Ultramarines are gonna dig up before they become reviled enough to be insulted by other chapters, calling them "Lorgar's closet loyalists" or "Servitors reciting the Codex Astartes to the point of even making the Eccleisiarchy go atheist" or my favorite: "The Ultramarines have more loyalty to the Codex Astartes than the Imperium and the Emperor, I'd rather side with Word Bearers than fight alongside faithful oath-breakers of the Guilliman line." Whaddya think?

Antony444

Indeed, Cadia stands. When billions of soldiers believe in one single thing, well there are echoes of it in the Warp...

Antony444

That's pushing things too far, I think. Yes, the Ultramarines declined participated in the campaign of the Eastern Fringe, but legally, there was no law demanding they complied with Weaver's instructions. And no, they aren't worshipping the Ruinous Powers or ruining worlds by their mere presence, so the Word Bearers remain far, far worse than them.

Antony444

It's more an alliance born of necessity. None of the two parties will be able to achieve anything on their own, but joining forces give a small chance to stick it to Lorgar. Think of how loathed the Seventeenth to make possible this kind of impossible alliance...

Antony444

Thanks! I don't give every information to the readers in that chapter, no. I want to keep a few surprises in my sleeves for the coming arc and beyond...

Vortiboy27

So will they still remain idle when it is confirmed Lorgar and his Legion will translate into the Eastern Fringe? I doubt it, I hope I doubt it.

Antony444

Hoping to make me reveal the plot again? You have much to learn, my dear padawan...

frank schellingerhout

thx for the words as always nice to see the spiders having fun true monsters that they are loving paperwork :D interesting with the alliance to stick it to logar will be fun to see his reaction to see his father work with a chaos against him wonder what number of spider assasins they will send to taylors new pet cat :D

So we have a police buddy comedy with Missy, Teddy, and the spider. A Guardians of Greatness event happening with Warmaster Ender Trevayne. As well as Ragnarork has started. I say this will be very interesting to read keep up the good work.

John W

Oh man, that prophecy. Which 2 primachs are going to fall is going to be the interesting questions. We got 3 in the fleet and 2 in the webway.

Vega

! Is Taylor going to become a baby space whale after this is over?

primus

The Cult of the Sacred Spider must be doing really well if an Inquisitor has joined.

Nicholas

Thanks for the chapter! I've got a very bad feeling about the intelligent insects Taylor is accumulating. Convincing them they are oppressed seems to be something Chaos would be really good at and they don't appear to be taking precautions against Chaos Corruption.

Gohu lacd

I think it's more likely that, rather than turn traitor, they develop an irrational hatred for anything furry that dare approach their mistress

Antony444

Thanks, yes the Administratum has not yet realised the horror of bureaucrat spiders coming true...

blackshadow111

Warmaster Ender? Kinda on the nose there. At least I can expect him to be horrifically competent.

Albino87

Wondering how long it will take until the gigantic spiders is going to be a major power block in the Administratum. But also how many of them are going to be bribed by honey since it looks like it is one of there weaknesses. I do not see them falling to Chaos, but people could bribe them to help them with bureaucracy hurdles they are facing. The Imperial Pylon was a surprise and wondering how far into the warp it will be visible for Navigators. If they made on as big as one of the Pylon on Cadia and it would probably be able to be seen in the size of an area of the Samarkand Quadrant. Granted the time and cost in creating something like that would probably make it a waste of time and resources. Unless it is placed near Cadia to be visible but far away from the eye to prevent Chaos from charge straight at it. Brukk-Brukk/X-Brukk is moving up into world. Hopefully his favourite squig was not eaten by Warboss Arrgard.

Confused

Ho boy a lot happening this chapter! Escalation is in the Air!

Antony444

Or not, I haven't shown him yet, no? That said, you don't arrive to this position without being gifted in military operations and political shenanigans. This is the kind of rank a lot of ambitious Guard officers are after.

Antony444

As long as Xerxes Vandire is in power, the spider's influence over the Administratum is likely not going to be over the local sphere, because, well they're Taylor's agents. As for bribing them with honey, keep in mind this is the pure honey the Catachan Ants are responsible for safeguarding. This is not the 'common' food which is delivered to the Nyxian population (and easy to find). The spiders think it is far too bland and sugar-free. Chaos trying to tempt them that way would thus require them finding an alternate source of supply...and the only one outside of Nyx is at Catachan. Taylor definitely supports the Ruinous Powers trying to invade that world, by the way.

Bel

Hmm, I just noticed a continuity error in 10-1. It's minor, but when Taylor is talking to the Eldar in the arena, she notes that Maea and Yvraine were captured on the Death Star. Weren't they captured on Anders III before being escaping on the Death Star?

Boris Michenski

On Death Star they were captured once again... So my take is just on Andes Taylor didn't look at them closely enough, busy with Dragon, while these two were immediately taken by Mecanicus.

Anonymous

That Malal profecy seems extremely sus- can’t wait to see what Antony444 will pull on us this time.

Anonymous

I have read so much that I ended up thirsting for more... How is this possible?!

Nicholas

There are four things you need to remember when considering Malal's prophecy. First, chaos lies. Second, chaos lies. Third, chaos lies. Fourth, fall can be literal or metaphorical and there are numerous common metaphorical meanings.

Rufio18

Unless I missed it, was there a bounty for Logar??? I am looking forward to the next chapters. I do wonder how you are going set it up when Taylor become overlord of other sectors since there are sectorship rewards and Taylor does not want the ultramar solution. I certainly hope there is a lot of WTF moments from the necron leaders when the entire rear guard fleet burns away. Btw, I love the new weapon description pieces that you have included and look forward to more of them.

Antony444

As what had to be said several dozen times, there are no bounties for the Traitor Primarchs. It would be tantamount to recognise their existence, something the Imperium doesn't want, and of course (to the Inquisition best knowledge) you can't really kill them permanently.

IAmTheGuardsman

So I actually have a question that’s been rolling around in my head for awhile. Doormakers shard: supposedly doormaker is dead, does that mean that someone else could trigger with his shard?

Antony444

Doomaker is dead, yes. As for its shard...assuming someone recovered it and managed to put it back into service, a new trigger could happen theoretically. But we're speaking very hypothetically, right? Right?
