One might think the readers would have asked a lot more why Taylor and Rokossovsky had named the Battle Group 'Volga', but oh well...

The map is posted here and now, the full unbetaed chapter is going to arrive in the next minutes.

Happy First of May!

Anti-No

Battle Group 'Volga'? I'm sure any references to the Battle of Stalingrad is entirely coincidental, and in no way hints about things to come.

За Волгой для нас земли нет! - "There is no place for us on the other side of Volga!" - One of mottos of Stalingrad's defenders.

Interesting. It looks like at the start, BG Volga will have the benefit of only dealing with the Throne itself and a single Necron fleet. Of course, we don't know exactly when or where the Grand Armada of Chaos will pop up, and I don't doubt Taylor is keeping her other battlegroups in reserve until that happens.

Indeed, of course, the Replicator Forges and the Necron Escort Fleet protecting it will be called back in a hurry should the Rear-Guard Fleet be defeated. So can the Assault Fleet, provided the Orks are not making a complete mess of it...But in the end, the survival of the Throne of Oblivion takes first, second, and third priority for the Szarekhan Necrons. They can survive politically with some fleet losses, but fleets can be rebuilt eventually. The battlestation simply can't, not at least on a duration in decades.

I am wondering how long it will take to melt down all the orc wreckage ... the stuff must have an unbelievable total value. It's a shame that the orcs probably made all Human Tech useless, or they could have found some nice treasures.

Years, most likely. The war has raged for years, and there's...well, everything which might nor or not be used to build starships.
