Here is the unbetaed chapter 80 of The odds were never in my favour, Power isn't everything.

There will be one more chapter for the 1994 summer, and then we will return (for a short-time) at Hogwarts.

Enjoy!

I know this fic doesn't get has much love has the others but I still love what you are doing with the characters. I'm honestly surprised you ended setting the same scene though. Are the same people involved ? And regarding Alex's animagus transformation does the fact she has multiple heads, and thus multiple brains, affect her in any form ?

Yeah, it's been way too long since we had a proper battle in this fic. Pity we have to wait for the next one

Anthony Pengelly

I love this store hope for more and it is getting interesting day by day

Antony444

Thanks! If you mean the Battle of the Quidditch World Cup, no, it's going to be seen from a very different objective. The objectives are very different, it's not a few Death Eaters who decided to get drunk this time. And no, Alexandra has still one mind, but multiple eyes to look at the world...

NatureKills

Hey love the story, I think this is the fourth or fifth time I reread it :) I don’t know if you are saving this or just forgot about it but shouldn’t Alex’s House ring change from the Heiress ring to the Lord/Lady ring after James died just like it did for Lyre?

Nice always awesome to see more Odds. Can’t wait for more and hope that our lovely little necromancer Hydra couple can have a peaceful and uninteresting summer. Pfftttt I can’t believe that for a second and dread the fools who rouse this power couple

Antony444

The summer will be totally peaceful and uninteresting...compared to the year coming ahead.

Thanks for the preview. This chapter seemed full of Chekhov Guns and Red Herrings. The question is, which is which? I do suspect the ending is a Red Herring. Alexandra was told to use Zambini retainers when she needed lawyers and security personnel. I hope she is in a position where she can send Stella's people to rescue her friends instead of wandering around in the middle of a multi sided battle.

Antony444

The problem with sending security personnel to the Quidditch World Cup is that we're the middle of the night, few people can really Apparate on considerable distance and be ready to fight in mere minutes, even if they're ready to depart in the first place. Unlike Alexandra not everyone is awake at such a late hour.

So this will be Alex’s first encounter with proper, hostile, dark wizards. I wonder how she will deal with them/how many will she kill. On a somewhat related note, I wonder what Voldemort’s reaction to Alex will be. Probably unhappy that she is wrecking his power base but I wonder what it will be beyond that. A third thing is that I believe that, while Neville is the chosen one in this AU, I still think that Alex was the other eligible candidate meaning that, if at any point Voldemort marks her as his equal she might become a second chosen one (assuming he can and will do that, that Alex was eligible and that you can have more than one chosen one)

Bel

This is her second encounter with hostile dark wizards, remember Professor Darkins in her first year while Neville was confronting Voldemort over the Stone. Voldemort seems to e an afterthought compared to the Exchequer, and it was noted in this universe she was born on the 28th, not the 31st . She's probably not eligible for the prophecy concerning Voldemort. That said, the Exchequer are working to bring about Voldemort and Neville's confrontation early to get the prophecy out the way before focusing on their 'real' goal, whatever that is. It will be interesting to see Voldemort's reaction to the various events that went down from Bellatrix jumping ship to Dumbledore's lessened prestige. However before that, its the Death Eater riot. Will be interesting indeed to see how its different in motivation, as Antony mentioned above.

I don't recall any mention of Ginny at Alexandra's birthday party. If she's not supposed to be there, the likely explanation might be interference from her parents due to Alex's reputation, though I don't think the Twins are of age either.

Antony444

It was, indeed. The Twins went ahead because they presented is as them being hired for the day as a 'business opportunity'. Unfortunately, the same excuse doesn't work for inny, and she isn't supposed to be friend with Dark Witches, so...

Anonymous

Since when do twins go to Alexandra for help first, and why?

Bel

They started to get friendly at the start of Alex's third year, when she offered to fund their joke shop. It got even more friendly after the Weasley vacation, where the queen of the exchequer placed a curse on Ginny and got rid of the 'herald' personality from her second year. The twins are smart enough to know what they don't know, and Alexandria is one of the students who knows a lot about a wide range of subjects.
