This update gives you, dear readers, the 20000 first words of Extermination 8-2. Writing is progressing well, I think I will have finished it in...roughly a week. My thoughts this was probably going to be the biggest chapter to date appear to have been fully confirmed.

Please note the escalation continue...and the war for Commorragh begin to take even more catastrophic proportions...

Enjoy!

Looks like there are a lot of 'issues' that the Dark City will have in the end. Wrecked and ruined demi-realms, an absolutely astounding number of anthropoid 'guests' to evict; a truly astounding number of corpses everywhere. And yet the BEST fun is yet to come into play! The Queen of Blades still hasn't reached the battlefield, and the Prince of Excess's Legions have yet to join the party :).

Boris Michenski

Well, Escalation is escalating more and more, now there are even C'Tan being throw around... And more and more STC being discovered. New Starfighter design? So, now up until one hour or even less before the Mark there will be no enemy fleet in what left of the biggest and last port. And the fact that one of main objectives was to bring all Eldars fleet there... it makes you wonder. And at last... WMD so bad kept it autodetonate the moment you tryto prepare it for the use? And while doing it, activate other nasty things kept nearby. I doubt even Drukhari would be so negletfull. I call schenegains, or more precisly I call Contessa, her Errant friends and PtV.

Antony444

Oh yes, the inhabitants of Commorragh are soon going to regret the good old times...assuming Commorragh is able to survive the incoming apocalypse, of course. Because as you've noted, the worse is still yet to come...

Antony444

Don't forget that there was specifically a Covenant to prevent the use of Exterminatus-grade weapons in Commorragh, and many of the pre-Fall weapons were conceived at a moment the Eldar were busy...errm...doing unspeakable things. These are very dangerous weapons, and most of them can't even be placed near a stasis field at the risk of setting off the entire area the moment cut off the powersource. On the other hand...it's possible it was one delayed assassination attempt of Vect. It is exactly his style.

Brett Tamahori

Before I sit down to read this I ask myself how could things possibly get worse. Oh wait, Biel-Tan hasn't shown up yet, and there is no situation that can't be made worse by Biel-Tan involving themselves.

Confused

Well time is running out for both the Dark Eldar and Taylors forces of course while Taylor knows this and is rushing to complete her objectives. The Dark Eldar are largely unaware of their fate though some are beginning to wisen up to this fact and cut their losses and run.

Brett Tamahori

Well they lasted about as long as I expected them do, and didn't make the situation much worse except they have gone an allied the Eldar with the Dark Eldar. Now Taylor was already wanting to kill all of them, but this won't help. Honestly I'm wondering if the only way out for some Craftworlds is going to be to throw Biel-Tan to the spiderwolves and I don't think that will be enough. To be fair, to be an Eldar is to be fucked, it's just a question how fucked you are personally at any given time.

Boris Michenski

And Cegorath is also marching to war... I didn't give it enough attention on my first read. Apparently he intend to use the strike and wound Emperor is about to inflick upon Slaanesh to try to finish it. Without Yineead being involved... this crystal book, it's the one the birth of God of Death was prophetised isn't it? And all Harlequins are going to fight to Chaos... with the exeption of Necron-Haters, All_no_Eldar-Haters and Drukhari likers. These ones want to be destryed with Commorragh, I'm sure Saint Weaver and her friends will be happy to oblige.

frank schellingerhout

wel some one forgot to bring there sun cream ^^ and releasing c'tan could be fun to see a slug fest with a c'tan and she who thirst

Antony444

Time is running out for everyone, including Slaanesh, the Asuryani, the Eldar, Cegorach...and when the counter reachs zero it's going to be even more spectacular...

Antony444

Well if Cegorach doesn't intervene against Slaanesh now, when is he going to intervene? It isn't like a Chaos God is weakened every Monday...and the credibility of the Harlequin is very much at stake if they do nothing in this battle.

Antony444

Nah you think? (grin) The problem is that C'Tan are very vunerable to the Warp, and it's 'only' a shard, while Slaanesh is very much whole.

Xelian, I think you have saboteurs in your fortress

Another great update. The escalation continues and now we know Trazyn is having fun too! I honestly want him to confront Hesperax and tell her she is going to be the crown jewel of his Alderi collection! And given objective B is one of the last really famous Drukhari can we expect Kheradruakh on the list too ? Or is the decapitator beneath the Emperor's notice ? Last but not least , are we getting an update on Khaine's gate in this chapter ? I'm confused it's not been mentioned during the dark eldar scenes. They don't know how really screwed they are yet ?

Michael Zalesny

You magnificient bastard...on another note i wonder if how Cawls going to react to the Enterprise...oh shit now i just imagined him and Leet interacting in anyway...

Antony444

Well Hesperax is...not going to cooperate, I think it goes without saying. Kheradruakh is indeed behind the Emperor's notice, at least when it comes for primary objectives. The reason why Rakarth is in it is because given the chance, he will try to rebuild the Haemonculi facilities and thus replenish the Drukhari ranks...and then the raids and the piratical actions will continue. Khaine's Gate is coming...Hell is coming, my friend...

Albino87

It looks like Biel-Tan is having less and less success in trying to attack Weaver. The first time they did get to fight the regiment she is in, here bugs and the change to duel here. The second time they did fight here bugs and soldiers in the same regiment. The third time they did not even get close enough to fight here insects and have to get a close encounter with the Necron and a shard of a Ctan instead.

Antony444

Well it was their bad luck to confront a C'Tan shard this time...better luck next round (grin)?

There were some scenes where I wasn't sure what the setting were, I can presume that Taylor meet the guard general in some sort of field HQ, and I can presume that Wolfgang/Dennis were on the bridge of the Enterprise, but since afaik it wasn't mentioned I can't know. Besides that all I want in life is a single scene where the Forgefather is presented with the gauntled of the forge, he reverently touches it and a single tear rolls down his face as he whispers "Vulkan lives"

So, Silver Roses change name to Sisters of battle later? Also thx for your work

The Navy casualties seem to be really light, both among the capital ships and the fighters. Especially that last attack, where they were outnumber at least 10 to 1, and tens of thousands of fighter craft. I get they had emplacements on the ground and imperial and necron ships are much tougher, but I am still unclear how they won with only single digit capital ship losses, against by the description (dozens of fleets) over 75 dark eldar battleships and hundreds of cruisers. By comparison, the descriptions of the ground battles seems much more intense and why the casualty numbers are so uneven seems much better justified.

Boris Michenski

I can only speculate, but I'd say all what you said with ground emplacement en hull's resistance. Plus several other's factors: Eldars could come only from Gate-Tunnels which were all cannons were zeroed. I wouldn't be surprised if there was many collisions once they begun to be fired upon. Plus I'd say every Necron ship would be worth much more that an Eldar warship even in much more favorable circomstance. In a way it's possible that numbers were hindering Eldars as much as it helped them.

Antony444

The future of the Sisters of Battle is coming...soon. Not this chapter, but soon. Thanks for the support!

Anonymous

Thanks for answering. I think part of what struck me about it was the Navy commander listing off how terrible the relative handful of losses were instead of how amazingly light. I'm not sure what I'm asking more, but maybe a few lines when the attack materializes of the effects of instant crossfire on the drukhari or a few lines during the casualty list of how many ships are on their last legs and it was a massive victory. I mean, they could bother to name individual cruisers lost and count lost destroyers when literal hundreds of enemies cruisers and untold numbers of enemy destroyers were blown up. That battle was the biggest naval victory of the imperium since... Well, since the day before. Maybe Wolfgang's just getting spoiled :)

Anonymous

It's a bit weird to think that in space the Eldar would probably run circles around the imperials, but in the relatively cramped confines of the webway the Imperial ships have a distinct advantage.

Forgottenone

Will Wolfgang be able to be a rouge trader after this? I do think the medals Wolfgang will get will be of navel nature. So Lord Admiral or High Lord Admiral after this? Yes it is crazy to think Wolfgang will go up the ladder that fast, but on the flip side Wolfgang's battle plans and skills has killed how many enemy ships of the line? Further more the High Lord Admiral that does not like him is in a different segmentum and his records should be nice and shiny.

Antony444

Yes, Wolfgang will be a Rogue Trader...if he survives, of course. The battle is far from over. As for Admiral issues, let me remind you his title is 'Naval Secretary' and it's by Taylor's support and the agreement of the Mechanicus Archmagi and the Space Marines he's the most competent naval strategist for the job that he got the job. The Imperial Navy had little to do with this...and officially he's an off-duty Ensign/Sub-Lieutenant with an half-pay. Kar Duniash is certainly not going to give an Admiral title...it would be an admission they were utterly in the wrong...and they certainly can't have that, do they?
