Super stressful week.  At the day job, over the weekend, rumors started going around about a handful of high level people at the studio being let go.  Then early in the week everyone got an email saying that they would be setting up individual meetings.  Keep an eye on your schedule because they could pop up at any time!  No pressure!  Then the number of people in Slack started to go down steadily.  People would pop in, say they were being let go, then their Slack account would be turned off.  Eventually they posted a new meeting to everyone's schedule saying that if you were left that you had survived the layoffs.  I had survived this round.  But it was a crazy experience and there were definitely people that were let go that shouldn't have been.  I'm trying to stay positive and focus on the fact that I still have a steady paycheck and health insurance.  It just really sucks for the people that were let go without warning.

But... ok Feign progress!  So I couldn't focus on much of anything this week and just did stuff that I could chill out working on.  Like prop sculpting for stuff in the swamp town.

I also worked on some miscellaneous stuff in game:
The new door system is almost ready to start being hooked up.  The new UE5 world partition stuff broke how the old doors worked but this new system will hopefully have faster and more stable loading.
Revamped the time of day blueprint.  This is also something that with the new UE5 lighting features needed to be updated.  There's still polish that I need to do but the core functionality is working again.
Hooked up some sky material shaders that will changed based upon the time of day.  This is for stuff like stars coming out at night.

Well now that the layoffs are done I'm hoping to get back up to speed and get working on the fun stuff again.  Frog daddy needs some scene animations!  And the female imps need some love too!

Thanks for sticking around everybody!  and I'm sorry about my ramblings about the day job.  Believe me if I could just work on Feign all day every day I would absolutely be doing that!
