Ok so the animated gif is showing the mechanics for the frogs tongue attack.  It'll be a ranged attack that if it hits the player will pull the player to the frog.  Then the frog will probably have a grapple attack to follow up.

But so far it's all temporary assets.  The center of the projectile is using the lust potion so I could see where things are.  The pink beam is just a really quick material that I'm hoping to replace with something better or maybe a mesh if I can get nanite working.  It will trace between the projectile and a socket on the character.  And of course he doesn't have an animation for the windup or the shot yet.  But all the heavy lifting is done.  Just need to make it look pretty now.

Then the in game shot of all the frog heads is the facial expression blendshapes that I'm in the process of hooking up.  I'll be able to start animating his face after this is done.

I did a tiny bit of environment work too for the swamp town.  Mostly working on assets for the wooden walkways between buildings.

And a day job update too... It's been complete chaos.  I thought after the layoffs there would be a day or two of people getting their bearings and then back to business as usual.  Not exactly.  Mid to high level management has all been shifted around.  Some people were promoted to fill empty positions.  Other people had their workloads increased to fill in for the people that were let go.  It's been an eye opening experience.  And a lot of people started applying for jobs when the layoffs were first announced a few weeks ago.  Well, their interviews are finishing up and they're being offered jobs.  Now there's a 2nd wave of people leaving the studio.  I'm guessing this will be a steady trickle over the next few weeks.  But now there's even more work for even less people.  The future of this day job seems very uncertain at the moment.

Sorry to hear about your work issues dude. Unfortunately this is kind of the textbook definition of what is expected out of a layoff. Glad you didn't lose your source of income at the very least. The gaming industry also has quite the bad reputation when it come to this as well. Just remember not to push yourself too hard. You don't owe your job more than they pay you for. And typically they don't pay you nearly enough.

Thanks. Yeah that's what I've been hearing from a lot of people. That this is sort of the play book for layoffs. This is my first time going through all of this personally though and it's absolutely wild to see. But you're right. At the end of the day it's a paycheck and if I can keep my head down and just put in my 40 hours per week it's still covering the bills while I work on Feign. So it isn't all bad.
