This one was all about Sakura.. can she stand above the rest? Or is she just doomed to be yet another shallow female character? Or are we simply being too harsh on the creators?

Two episodes in one is definitely better if you can manage it, but even if not, the story picks up the pace fairly soon and there will be more to react to. It's just that certain sections of the anime are more of a lull than others when doing one episode at a time, like this forest part and the Haku fight

Yeah, the pacing for Naruto is bad but it does get better. Just going to take a while. Also I agree about the female characters, from what I’ve heard the creator stated he didn’t know how to write females. So I guess for the question of what do girls care about he thought “boys”.
