After finishing my meal, I was thinking about what to do next when I heard the screams of the animals, so I hurriedly ran out of the house to find a swarm of rats attacking the animal shed.

“!!? Laser rain!!”

I wiped out a group of rats with a rain of light arrows and entered the animal shed and I found that the animals were being melted and eaten by rats.

“Fireball! Fireball!! Fireball!!”

I shot flame bullets at the monster rats and tried to burn them all down, but I missed a few, and the monster rats started to spew fluids from their mouths, and I quickly dodged them, but one of the fluids got to my thigh and it started to let out smoke, and I can see it visibly starting to melt, but my priority now was to kill the monster rats. Or rather, that's all I can think of. I feel like I'm going crazy with anger over the animals being killed.

“Uuugggh!? Aaaaaaah!! Fireball!!”

I defeated the monster rats that I had missed in my frantic shooting, poured a mega potion on the thighs that had melted into mush until I could see the bones, and healed them. I tried to bring the animals back to life with my Resurrection Skill, but even the bones were melted, so there was nothing I could do...

“...Acid Rat”

When I examined the bones of a monster rat using my Appraisal Skill, I found that it was a monster called Acid Rat.
A rat-type monster that preys on its prey by dissolving it in an instant with its highly acidic saliva.

“...Damn it.”

It looks like they dug a hole and came out from the ground.
Is this the result of leaving it as soil in order to make it as natural as possible?
If I made a floor and made even the entrance sturdy, things like this won't happen...

“Haa... painful...”

They’re domestic animals that I bought for food, and I only interact with them for a short time, so I wasn’t really attached to them, but painful things are painful.

“...Let's move out.”

I know very well now that no matter how safe it may seem, you never know when danger may approach.
The forest is dangerous.
Although there are restrictions, human habitation is the safest.
I think I’ll go back to the city, build a house on a vacant land somewhere, and live there.

I packed up the things I needed in storage, dismantled the house, and used my Alchemy Skill to turn it into powder.
I also destroyed the field, buried some acorns in the vacant lot, and used a high fertilizer potion that was synthesized from a Hi-Potion and a fertilizer potion to grow them into trees, returning it to its original state and erasing all traces that I had lived there.

“That’s done.”

I did this because I thought it was my fault that I had changed the forest's ecosystem and was attacked by the rats.
At the end, I put my hands together and pray for the animals' afterlife.

“Next time please enter my stomach deliciously.”

I teleported to the iron hut on the plains, checked the surroundings, then went outside and returned to the city.
