Samsung 5nm EUV will be shit (at least density wise) compared to TSMC'S. It's more akin to TSMC's 7nm plus than anything else

Did you guys see the unreal engine 5 demo running on the PS5? It looks as good as anything I've seen yet.

Aiden

O'Shea, yeah but to follow Tom "its just marketing."

TSPCFS

yea--as you guys are noting as i type it, I think the backlash/very underwhelming response to the Xbox announcement is almost purely because of "Gameplay!!" And like only 1-2 of the demos/first looks showing anything that remotely looked like real gameplay. I thought that it was fine myself--because as you note... expectations.

Aiden

Xbox is waiting for ps5 price so they can match it.

TSPCFS

power and performance characteristics probably matter more. Especially as shrinking transistors is tending to get you less power/performance benefits. Who cares if you need a 50% larger die if it costs half the price per wafer? At least, for CPUs/GPUs/etc.

MooresLawIsDead

It is marketing for sure, but it did demonstrate 100x the polygon count of the previous Gen. Finally a demo that isn't pre-rendered or a last Gen game.

Aiden

All and all good podcast as always

Regarding AM4 support, I think AMD needs this move with its compatibility. I came into a 1600 AF last month and it took nearly two days of back and forth with ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte to find a B450 board that would work with it without a boot kit from AMD. Ended up cancelling my Strix board and Going with a Tomahawk just to have the flashback option. I'm an experienced builder so how nightmarish must this be for new builders?
