Hello again!  This week I made a bit more initial progress than usual, so the first work report preview of this page is already at the inked-and-flat toned stage.  My gamedev work was a bit lighter so I put that time into working on the comic, and I think I can probably have this page done by the end of next weekend.  But for now I am over the most tedious hurdle, so it's all downhill from here.

The last page introduced Sally but it was largely about Doris and Lizzie, so this page gives Sally some spotlight and connects her to Monday.  The first panel opens with a sort of lingering bewilderment at Doris leaving Lizzie to train Sally on top of the rest of her work, but Sally gets right to the point, poking at Lizzie's shoulder.  The next row of panels is a setup for a joke I've been waiting to write for a very long time.  Here Sally is asking about Monday, like "That guy with the glasses you were just talking to, are you friends?" Liz is like "You mean Monday?" and Sally is like "No I mean like ten minutes ago".  I think this joke is really funny, so in the third row I set aside two panels just for Liz to silently laugh about it.

For the rightmost panel of row three I wanted to have Lizzie kinda answer like, no that's his name, but say they know each other, rather than answer directly that they're friends.  They still don't entirely like one another but they have been travel companions for a good while, so they know each other fairly well.  Sally had one fleeting encounter with Monday, though, so her perception of him is completely different.  She thinks he's a hero.

Next row of panels down is her sharing her story, about how Monday saved her and reunited her with her family, and then just walked away into the sunset. In the rightmost panel I wanted to draw his mouth in a way that is as close to almost being a smile as is possible without actually not being just a flat line.  Since he's walking past the front window that shot will be strongly backlit, I'm excited to get that one painted.

Last row of panels on this page as Lizzie being like, oh well that's surprisingly noble of him, like the ultimate conclusion is she came away from this scene with a bit of a better understanding of her adversarial companion.  Sally ends by saying she wants to be just like him someday, which leads into the last panel as sort of a silent reaction to that idea.

That's it for now.  This page has a lot of individual figures to paint but it has a lot of flat easy backgrounds so I'm not sure exactly how quickly I can blast through it, it could honestly go either way.  I should have significant progress by next Friday, though, so until then, be well and take care!

I love the expressions in this, especially the last frame. I laughed out loud even before I read what was going one. (Actually, I initially thought she was crushing on Monday, and I imagine Liz would have pretty much the same mildy horrified response).

Part of why I draw the art before writing the words is to make sure the expressions sell well on their own, I'm glad that came across well here
