All you need to know about every build and talent for Genji! Lots of Genji specific tips and tricks and playstyle explanations as well! Genji is a very strong dive assassin that takes quite a bit of practice and understanding to play well, but when you get the hang of it, it is both very fun and very strong. Lots of small details that you have to always be considering that make a huge difference!

Wonder if Zanshin is good into Zarya AA too.

It's decent into it but the spells are by far the best. Tracer, tass AA also good to reflect but not as good as disintegrate or reverse amp

Samuro please

This was good, but pretty basic; it's mostly just a list of his builds. It doesn't cover much more advanced than that, like his positioning, or how to use him moment-to-moment, or the general "flow" of his gameplay. I've heard you on your streams mention that (paraphrasing here) "basically no Genjis realize that to be effective you have to be poking people and putting out damage 100% of the time," and I think advice like that is way more useful and relevant than build data, which most people could grab off of heroesprofile if they needed it. I've seen you casually outdamage a GM Greymane on your team as Genji, and *that's* the sort of play that really interests me. Explaining how to do that, without getting pulverized, is way more useful than knowing that the Q/D build is strong right now. Apart from practice, obviously, I learned to play Genji from Aussenseider's comprehensive, two-hour Genji guide from a few years back. It predates the 5.5 -> 4.5 range nerf, so it's a little out of date by now, but I was hoping for something like that from you, something that really covers the hero top to bottom from the perspective of an HGC player. (His guide is here, if you're curious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MA3CcxekNXI ) I realize that'd be a significant time investment, but I think the people who follow your content would watch videos of that length. Your followers are interested in you for one of two reasons: you're a former professional and probably the overall best player still playing and therefore have a lot of knowledge and wisdom to dispense, or because they like memes and troll plays. (My personal favorite was when you queue-click Maiev to soak and then fuck off for 5 minutes to get a drink or something.) It's hard to get people to pay for memes, so the Patreon crowd probably leans heavily toward the first group, and would be willing to watch long-form instruction like that. That's just my two cents, but it's something to think about.

I don't want to enter or create a toxic discussion. From what I've studied about this game, and also from seeing Fan playing on a high level that is GM STorm League I find these guides extremely helpfull and reassuring because on most games, most GMs are actually not playing properly on a Fundamental level either of game macro and sometimes micro but also using their hero's specific build to it's strength. I am not a GM, I'm training and studying to get the closest I can, and I see Fan's GMs games where most low GMs are actually not doing what he talks in these "summarized" and "build" guides. Also, in Storm League there is no team communication or strategy definition, you have to play solo queue (at least for me the the only fair option), this means you have to master your hero/heroes, and simply adapt on the fly to what is happening, because there is no shot calling. The moment you understand these basics of builds and specific tips and tricks, you can actually analyze Fan's gameplay via another perspective, you start paying attention to details and critizicing what you see to learn. I actually do this a lot from Counter Strike, at an extremely high level. You learn the basics, and then you study through demos/replays, because META changes.

Thank you for the guide once again Fan! :)

I don't think your comment was toxic at all, but I'd still be interested in Fan's response.

I have some positioning and targetting guides on Patreon that are very similar to this, so you can check those out if you haven't. I do see what you are saying though, you want it specifically for this hero. My idea was that players trying to learn a hero can combine these patreon guides with replays of my grandmaster games on the specific hero on my Youtube to get more of what you said, but maybe people don't realize that. That is a good idea to include some replay analysis of various plays you can do with the specific hero in the guide as well, I'll try to start incorporating those into future hero guides.

Thank you guys for giving us different point of views. I believe that if you want to master a hero you need to watch as many videos as possible, guides, comparison with other players and a lot of practice.

fanhots

I agree! The more you know the better you will get, even if you don't play the hero, it will be useful whenever you play against it to know the kit and what they are looking for so you can counterplay it.

Oops. Patreon didn't tell me you replied. Thanks! I noticed the difference in your Greyman and Gul'dan videos. I'll try and get to those guides; right now there's a browser bug that makes it hard to reach older content (hooray for infinite scrolling).
