Hi Patrons, tomorrow one of our own James Wilson is joining me for a Podcast on Patreon on Mental Health and FPL.

We'd appreciate some feedback on the following question by simply answering 'yes or no' please, you are of course free to add comments in the replies if you wish and feel comfortable doing so.

Do you believe FPL has an impact on your mood/mental health and/or the time you have available for social/personal activities?

I used to think FPL didn't affect my mental state at all but started noticing that I'd get much more reserved and pissy when I had a bad gameweek. This stuff can be very subcontious. It was especially bad when I'd do a lot of (fpl) homework and still got my decisions wrong. I went into the last season with the mindset of giving less of a shit and it ended up being one of my best seasons since I started playing. I think there's a correlation for me and many others that not stressing about it and just going with your gut, instead of doing hours of research, helps you play better AND keeps you sane

Far too often I’m put in a bad mood when the game week is active. This has a detrimental effect on my family and has led to me wanting to quit numerous times. I always come back though as I enjoy updating my FDR and player stat spreadsheets too much. I’m not sure what I’d do instead. Meeting other FPL players from the community is also a big positive.

I really do struggle with this a lot during the season. It’s definitely come up sometimes at home that my partner says “why do you play if your hobby isn’t fun?” I find what has been the worst part is that I’m grumpy when things go poorly, but rather than being happy when things go well I’m just relieved. I am not sure the game is really for me, to be totally honest.

I'm genuinely considering not playing this season. The last day of last season was really disappointing for me and left me pretty despondent and I'm not sure I'm up for feeling that way again. What has been good for my wellbeing is 100% Planet FPL and James and Suj. They've been a go-to for a few years now and help to fill any empty time I have with a comforting reassurance and genuine warmth.
