I watch at this show 4 more times in the last year, i cry every time at the end.

Dank Waifu

You guys gotta do a reaction to the openings and endings with lyrics, they're very insightful.

Isac christensen

Also I Hope you have tolerated my nonsense these many months with my crazy titles for episodes. It was an experiment to see if I could keep it up for a show. A great show comes to an end, I hope for many more :D

top 3 reactors of all time to this series

Dank Waifu

Some of the endings contain subtle spoilers and hints that you wouldn't pick up until you finished the entire story.

Xanakone SPT

I'm so glad to people who just started watching this show after it's finished, you don't need to waiting in agony for f**king 10 yearsss haha

dom

cannot wait to see their reactions to the openings

K

I can now definitely say that you are one of the smartest to react to this show. Thank you for the fun rollercoaster ride (once again). 🙏

K

Now please react to Haikyuu!! to cure your trauma. :)

Manuel Gomez

Yup 10 years of waiting for this ending and fighting for our lives trying not to get spoiled as anime only watchers 😭 was 13 when I started the show and 23 when it ended, was highly expecting/hoping for a movie but it would of been a sob fest for the whole theater so I'm glad that didn't happen 💀

Auti O

The cycle doesn't stop. Floch was right. Genocide would have been the answer.

Alex Kaiser

How do you even write something like this comment and not feel like a piece of shit

Spencer Brown

Eren talked with everyone and erased their memories in the scene with Annie and armin on the boat, and then gave them back their memories when he died

Aureum Exitium

That was such a great reaction and still one of the few that realized the symbolism of the final tree and how the cycle never ends. I'll say it again, S-Tier reactors right here.

Stan

What an epic journey, guys! The end of an era indeed! It has been a pleasure to watch your reactions. As for the connection between Mikasa and Ymir, I like to think that Ymir needed an example of someone who could rise above a tragic love and do the "right thing" over her own interests. And that is why Ymir was freed when she saw Mikasa kill Eren. Ymir understood that she no longer had to obey Fritz and produce Titans. What I find a bit disappointing is that Eren was too "emotionally stupid" to understand that. He knew that Mikasa loved him, so he could have made the connection.

Angelia Dark

The end for me is equal parts despairing and hopeful. Mankind progressed and degressed but also proved that the Titans weren't the reason why, PEOPLE were. As for the end piece, in the past, Life had given Ymir what she desired. Who knows what Life will give the boy what he desires.

van der Lark

I think the „post credit scene“ of this show is some of my favourite non-verbal/visual storytelling in a few minutes that I have seen in a while, maybe ever

Shawstyles

U guys r the best aot reactors ever! Def my top3 aot reactors! 👐🏻🫶🏻

Francisco Yang

Holy yall actually realized the entire show is Armin telling the story of what happened, don’t think I’ve seen another reactor notice that while watching this finale. As the Instagram/Tiktok comments say: It’s Armin narrating Eren’s point of view of Mikasa’s story.

rina.

I love this show 😭 Its been amazing watching your reactions 💓

Julius Cervantes

the cycle keeps repeating with the new ‘Subjects of whoever that guy with the dog was’ 😭

Mariam

Ymir was connected to Mikasa and not Eren because Mikasa managed to kill the one she loved for her own and everyone else's sake when Ymir couldn't do the same. In a way Ymir got her revenge on King Fritz through Mikasa and now she's finally able to rest.

Lack Broke

The 20% of the remaining world are way more than the population of Paradis. It's not a 10% Paradis/ 10 % world situation. It's still a case of hundreds of millions against 1 million people on Paradis. By "same level of civilization" Eren was referring to technology and infrastructures, as a society.

Bryan Givens

Great reaction to a great show!

NigerianPrinceNoScam

To explain the Mikasa - Ymir relationship. Both were slaves to love, Ymir probably had stockholm syndrom. In the Ymir flasback you see her protecting King Fritz by blocking the spear. Mikasa showed Ymir a way to become free and not being slaved by love by killing Eren. Ymir seeing this broke the Titan Curse. And Eren always moved forward to reach "that". He never knew what Mikasa needed to do, but his whole "moving forward" was always for this. So in the end Erens whole inner unconscious motivation we've saw throughout the show was to free Mikasa, which freed Ymir which led to the end of all Titans, which was Erens first goal he told us (Episode 2 i think). Truly a Masterpiece.

Derek Rios

No matter how many times I’ve seen this Armins scream always gets me ALWAYS!!!!

Gabriel Mendez

They're gonna lose it when they find out that baby being saved by the mob was Eren's voice actor's real life baby

Lone Wolf Knight

I really wish the author left it at Mikasa thanking Eren for wrapping the scarf around her or even just her funeral where she's buried next to Eren. Didn't need that extra depressing stuff. Though someone pointed out to me that the whole thing with the kid and the new tree at the end isn't necessarily bad. Zeke explained how the power of the titans came from Ymir's wish to have a strong immortal body to escape her pain and fear and how the paths are likely from her wish to have connections. He said the powers are a result of the circumstances around Ymir which were obviously fucked up. However the circumstances of the kid who found the new tree are almost definitely much different so if he does end up coming into contact with the centipede thing chances are the results will be completely different than Ymir's as well. Though obviously the ending is up for interpretation (I think the author even stated as much, that it's up to you to decide what it means) but that's how I like to look at it.

Gabriel Mendez

Also Mikasa singing the end credits song written by linked horizon who did the first op which is everything I wanted. Aot really does incredible story telling in every facet possible ending the show with how it began

Mister X

It's been fun to watch your reactions, and now I can finally be at peace with the ending of this incredible show. Shinzou wo Sasageyo!

baja

Historia's kid is the furst eldian to be born without the titan curse

Xanakone SPT

I don't think founder Ymir has only Stockholm Syndrome but she might have Learned Hopelessness too, I think she already decided that she can't escape or do anything she defined herself as slave.

Solemnity

@Alex Kaiser Probably because it's fiction and nobody actually died.

Reginald

Something i just realized…eren is, in a sense, the purple bad guy from the marvel movies.

Gabriel Mendez

Don't forget to include the final chapters op and endings by linked horizon and higuchi ai respectively. They flew a bit under people's radars since the final chapters were released as specials and not individual episodes but they exist. It would also be cool to hear your thoughts on any of the osts that stood out to you if you have a favorite or wanna share thoughts on the final chapters soundtracks that largely borrow from the original seasons while still being new my favorite is bauklotzen which plays during hanges scene

Solemnity

Is this something the mangaka stated, or are you just fabricating?

Kenzielle

What an absolute honor it was to stumble across y’all’s channel just as you guys started this show. I’m sure you’ve heard it time and time again, but you two are seriously the best reaction channel I’ve ever seen. You’re both so funny, extremely astute, and warmly empathetic. I found myself giggling in joy when I’d see a new notification of another episode posted from you both. It felt like I was getting the opportunity to watch this series again for the first time from fresh eyes. And I felt like you both revealed stuff to me that I didn’t even realize about the show until now. I feel like that says a lot about the depth of the show and how amazing you both are at catching symbolism and seeing the double meaning in everything. Thank you for watching this show, and thank you for the past seven months. It’s been an absolute honor to have you guys join the scouts. You’ve earned yourself a loyal fan out of myself, and I can’t wait to see what’s next! Sasageyo!

Eren is who Ymir thought she wanted, as he’s someone who desperately desires freedom and will keep moving forward to achieve it, but it was Mikasa is who Ymir needed, as she’s one of the only characters who is truly free. The shot of Falco's wings behind her symbolizes that. It also makes narrative sense for her to be the one to kill Eren. She's Ymir's antithesis and was able to do what Ymir couldn't. Ymir had a twisted perception of "love" and developed a trauma bond to Fritz due to her trauma and abuse. She wanted love, hence the flashback of her looking at the couple kissing, and the only person who gave her that in her mind was him, as messed up as that is. He made her feel important and useful and gave her attention and a life as royalty. It explains why even though she had the titan powers to kill him and his army, she willingly choose to come back to him after obtaining her powers. The fact that Mikasa is the one who truly frees her is so poetic to me. Another thing that was poetic was the “See you later, Eren” callback. From the very beginning of the manga, we see Mikasa say these exact words to Eren and 137 chapters later, Isayama finally closes this narrative loop after 12 long years. Absolutely brilliant.

Lone Wolf Knight

Same. It's absolutely gut-wrenching. The voice actor earned their pay on that scream alone.

Lack Broke

Hey, to answer your question, yes, we know that Paradis population is 1 million people according to the first few episodes of the show. We also know that the population of Marley alone is more than 100 million people (they have an army of 1 million people according to episode 9 of season 4). So Marley alone is way more than ten times the population of Paradis. So the entire world population must be thousands times those of Paradis. Even after Eren's massacre of 80% of humanity, there's still a few hundred millions people alive (like 400-500 million). That's a situation of 400 to 1 for Paradis. Think it that way, that would be saying like the population of a small country like Qatar or Luxembourg is 10% of humanity in our world, it's just absurd.

Reginald

Ladies, in the manga. Something they didnt do in the anime. That first scene when eren wakes up, the moment right before, he sees mikasa’s hands reaching for his hand saying “see you later, eren”. Then he wakes up crying without realizing he’s crying because future Eren sent his memories. So he was basically dreaming a movie of Whats to come. But in the anime, they only go as far as him seeing his mom being eaten and some marley soilder uniforms. Basically what im trying to say isayama is a genius, he planned his entire story out, minus a few details I THINK, like he had the skeleton of the story made, then put the muscles, organs and the skin after. For example, the armor bottle eren bit to create his titan crystallized form ….that was nonsense.

Phillip

Shinzou wo Sasageyo

Gabriel Mendez

Yes, expanding more on the fact that he didn't know the outcome of what Mikasa needed to do: Eren's memories, past or future, rely on an attack titan wielder to see and send memories. It's a little more extreme when he touches historia and unlocks all of his memories past and future with the connection to his founding titan. However since he already has his head cut off by Mikasa when he opens his eyes that experience of death, freedom, and love from her kiss is all new to him, outside of the countless loops of time he's experienced. This is paralleled with his experience with Armin, when he sees the shell for the first time and witnesses the beauty that was at his feet the whole time.

Green Hog

The fact that Ymir was in love with that incredibly arrogant and evil king Fritz is mind boggling. Shows how some people will continue in a toxic relationship and never realize that it’s ruining everything for them and around them.

Reginald

I JUST WANT TO GIVE A BIG SHOUT OUT TO 諫山創!!

Rae

As bleak as the ending is, my personal takeaway is that even though the cycle of violence and hatred will always continue, we have to try our best to not perpetuate it and if we can’t we have to keep trying regardless of what the outcome may be. It’s been repeated throughout the series that human conflict will never cease by Erwin, Pyxis, and Kyomi. And like Nicolo said, there’s a devil in all of us; we’re all capable of violence. So what do we do? We escape the forest and even if we can’t we have to keep trying. I believe that's what the scouts were trying to do. Because they actually had a hand in furthering the Rumbling by helping Eren get to Zeke. Aot has always been about making choices that one thinks they will regret the least. They just didn’t wanna regret not stopping a near-omnicide. The scouts represent what the Survey Corps stands for and what, I hope, we all stand for: fighting against insurmountable odds for even the slightest chance of an unrealistic idealist world.

you guys are without a doubt my fav aot reactors ever. ive rewatched this show along with so many reactors before but nothing has been as satisfying and amazing as rewatching it alongside you. im so happy you guys love this show as much as we all do and will forever be impressed by yalls ability to understand so much on ur first watch. you two are freaking incredible, i hope you know that. i want to talk about eren, armin and mikasa and their roles in conveying this storys message. all three of them represent aots main themes: eren is the forest. he embodies the endless cycle of hatred and violence. no matter the circumstances, he keeps moving forward and fighting. thats just who he is. mikasa represent beauty in a cruel world. throughout the story she fights for and protects the beautiful things in life. armin represents the “insignificant” things in life. he appreciates the small things, the things that bring you joy, and carries hope for a better future. eren had been doomed from the very beginning of the story, only that neither us nor eren knew that. and he wasnt doomed because of fate or anything like that, but because of everyones choices, made because of the things they are enslaved to. everyone wanted something in life and made choices based on that. eren was bored when he lived a simple life inside the walls. he didnt have any dreams to fight for. but then armin showed up with his book and while talking about the free world outside he had that look in his eyes, and eren too wanted a dream that he could use to motivate himself. thats when he gained his reason to fight: he realised he wasnt free and wanted to fight for freedom. anyone who took away someone elses freedom was a monster to him. his mom getting eaten amplified his anger at said monsters, in this case the titans. reaching the basement and seeing the future after kissing historias hand is what shattered his worldview: he learned that the “freedom” he had been fighting for didnt exist and the world actually was full of people who wanted his people dead. he lost hope, became depressed and began distancing himself. when him and the crew came to marley, that was when his worldview was shattered again: this time he learned that the people outside werent actually all bad. they were humans just like everyone else he knew. the things he was going to do werent justified, he was going to become just like the kind of monsters that he has always hated, the ones that take away other peoples freedom. his self-hatred peaks here, he breaks down and asks mikasa why she cares sm bc he 1. cannot fathom how she could love someone like him and 2. wants a way out. but the future doesnt change because mikasa wants to keep the beauty in her life. eren is the most beautiful thing to her, because in a moment when she thought of the world as nothing more than a cold and cruel place he showed her how to fight, gave her a home, comfort and warmth (the scarf). she doesnt confess because she is scared of losing him (not knowing that this is what would make her loose him). and eren is a slave to freedom. so even though he hates himself for what he will do he cant stop himself from wanting it because he cant let go of his childish illusion of freedom. which is why he reverts back to a child during his scene above the clouds because he, in order to enjoy this “freedom”, his childhood dream, has to completely dissociate from the reality of what he is doing. he also does it because he knows that by doing this the titan curse will disappear and because its the only way he sees for his friends to life long lives. ultimately, eren dying and mikasa and armin surviving is important for the storys message. eren, who symbolises the cycle of hatred and violence is killed and mikasa and armin who symbolise beauty and hope survive. mikasa killed eren because she knows that sometimes one death can save many lives and because eren showing the alternative timeline made her understand his pain and she wanted to set him free of that. her love was her strength. through this sacrifice she was able to give ymir the strength to let go of her love and end the titan curse. armin continued to have hope for a better future and became a peace ambassador and mikasa finally got to live the peaceful live she had always wanted. the rumbling allowed erens friends to live out the rest of their lives. conflict, however, never ceases to exist and so several thousand years in the future their island gets bombed and destroyed. but life continues to multiply. history always repeats itself. aot ends with a boy and his dog finding erens tree which now looks like ymirs tree did. many think that means that the titans will come back, however that is very unlikely. the titan curse was created because ymir was suffering and wanted strength and connection. she was chased by people and dogs when she found the tree but the boy had found it while exploring alongside his dog. he doesnt seem like he would have any reason to wish for something as tragic as ymir did. so now its on us: we need to have hope that this is a better future and not let the hatred continue. also: - the ending song was partially sung by mikasas and erens voice actors - in the first manga chapter eren sees mikasa saying “see you later eren” and then wakes up from his dream. he asks mikasa when her hair has gotten so long (the last time he sees her before death her hair is short) and then he cries but he cant remember what he dreamed of that made him cry. theres also a cross on the tree that is seen when eren gets up from where he was sitting. this page is the only numbered one in the entire manga series and the number is 13. that is the life span of a titan shifter and 13 years later we see mikasa sitting next to erens grave, which is where eren sat in the beginning of the story. absolutely insane

Skellyp

Yes, all the openings and endings!

PO

FAV POINTS FROM THE FINALE - feel free to add and discuss -Armin was seen as the old man near the tree after old mikasa died and got buried next to eren. he was the third to make it to the tree, as was told. -First scene of season 4 was falco looking at birds. he woke up from a dream where he thought we was flying above titans wielding swords. the amount of foreshadowng in this show is mind blowing. -Similar thing in season 1 episode 1. Eren wakes up and asks Mikasa "When did your hair get so long." The last part of the dream he had, Mikasa had short hair (final episode). The genius Isayama planted these foreshadows and references in EVERY episode -Eren had to manipulate himself to be the kid full of anger and hate so he made the titan eat his mom instead of berthold. he also needed armin to inherit the colossal so berthold couldn't die there. People didn't wan't to accept that since they wanted to believe Eren and his cause but unfortunately he wanted this outcome more than anything. -The parallel between mikasa and founder ymir. mikasa did what ymir couldn't do, kill the person you loved to be liberated from 'the curse'. once ymir witnessed it she was finally free and we could see her with her children in a frame insted of with king fritz who had a spear in him. eren figured this out. -A lot of people thought eren weeping to armin was 'out of character'. but we know that that was the real eren. he didn't have to put on the act anymore since armin was going to remember it after erens death. -Eren and mikasa lived out his remaining 4 years peacefully in the paths, it was a gift given to her by eren. Only after eren's death in the paths was she able to kill him in real life. -Eren admitting that if anyone else had this kind of power the outcome wouldn't be the same. He realizes that this was the only outcome because he is 'an idiot who got his hands on power' this sums up eren perfectly. He "did it for himself" becuase HE wanted his friends to live long lives, HE wanted a free world that isn't occupied, HE wanted the power of titans to vanish. -"You were right armin, i am a SLAVE TO FREEDOM." stop it Isayama, we don't deserve you. Remember Kenny's last words before his death? "We are all drunk on something, eveyone was a slave to something." And of course, this quote applies to every single charatcer in the show. -Eren never saw the shell armin found when they first made it to the sea. he never looked back, he was too busy thinking about 'if we kill all our enemies, will we finally be free' looking out in the distance. he was obsessed with the idea of an unoccupied, free world that he didn't notice the beauty next to him. -Armin says let's tell our story to everybody while holding the feather at the end. He is the narrator of the story from episode 1. Great touch. -Zeke sacrificed himself to levi to stop the rumbling and save whats left of humanity. -Levi looking at the lollipop reminded him of hange, when they first stepped into marley. -Callback to jean thinking eren's a suicidal maniac before he blows up the dynamite (he said it a bunch of times before). also similar to when reiner said that eren should be the last person to have this kind of power. -A great call back to season 1 when eren said something along the lines of 'i would never die inside of a titans mouth' when he was almost chewed up by santa titan. of course isayama knew that he would eventually die inside of a titans mouth. -The island of paradis without walls seems to have a thriving couple hundred years after eren's death where they prosper and build skyscrapers. but of course, ultimately humanity and war goes side by side. -Reiner being the absolute mvp of the endgame. -The 'thing' aka 'glowing worm' is a Hallucigenia. Lived about 505 million years ago, believed to be the ancestor of all complex-life forms. Sort of like a first souce of all life. -Eren gave the squad the freedom to stop him, he said he will only march on, the resistance was all founder ymir. he was successful in his goal of wiping out titans from the world, but at what cost. -Last song you hear is sang by Mikasa's voice actor. I think Eren's voice actor is in it too. -We have witnessed history. the perfect show ended with a perfect ending. viewers left in shambles, tears, frustration, satisfaction, anger, happiness, sadness, helplessness. i cannot describe the feelings i have felt throughout this show. i am glad that it stayed true to itself all the way to the end. -THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD. PEAK FICTION. THANK YOU ISAYAMA. THANK YOU ANIMATORS. THANK YOU VOICE ACTORS. THANK YOU MUSIC COMPOSERS AND SINGERS. GOODBYE AOT, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MY NUMBER 1. SHINZO WO SASAGEYO

Phillip

yeah its fiction...where no one actually dies...but if you are team flock...you are team genocide..and thats bad. if you make a hero of the bad guys you are missing the mark right? the idea that its not "real" so its ok to justify what someone does in a fictitious story is how propaganda can work...glorification or justifying what someone is doing that is bad is enabling it. and this isn't "minor flaws" like hes violent or aggressive, bad father doesn't play well with others, sleeps around, or any other number of character flaws...this is genocide there is a big difference between "flock is an interesting character that shows the dangers of how genocide can seem justified and how some one could go down this path" and "genocide is the answer just like flock said" also its made very clear his way isnt the answer, he is made to look and sound crazy, all the good guys line up against him and in the end he lost. so the writer is making it clear its not the answer

baja

The last conversation between armin and eren ,To me, was a massive character moment for armin, he's been known as one of the more perceptive character and knows eren inside out. This conversation made him one of my favourite characters. He was a true friend through and through. During his last conversation Armin saw what eren became. He threw away his core identity, his freedom. The thing He lives and die by, not only because of his titan and the titan dna from grisha's goop, But it's also his personality and his motivation since he was a kid. He became what he most hated, the ultimate puppet, a pawn in ymir's freedom, the monster that steals innocent people's freedom. But out of all the strings attached to him, eren was able to muster the outcome that would give his people the most amount of peaceful years. He became what he hated for them Armin says he is partially responsible for the rumbling because he implanted idea of unnocupied earth in eren's head. However the fact that he also mentions that he considered the rumbling as an option at one point in time does not get enough attention imo. 2 way i understood it was: I think during his conversation with eren, Armin realised that knowing what he knows now, he wouldnt change the outcome if he could. Or that he was subconsciously going along eren's plan/ supporting him ( meaning he was pulling back in his effort to stop eren in his track from the revolution to well into the final confrontation). While he doesnt fully agree with Eren's action, he saw the impossible situation behind them. He knew eren would give his life to save his friends, but only now he realised how far he would actually go. This realization, plus seeing Eren slowly drying up and dying inside in front of him The only thing he could say was - ''Thank you.'" Thus his goodbye saying he will gladly stay in hell with eren forever. The only way he could pay his friend back. I know this is just my interpretation. But i do feel it makes sense from what i have seen

Zebra

The best aot reactors there are 😭❤️ PLEASE DON’T FORGET to also react to the last special opening and ending they made for the episodic release of the final chapters

Need a reaction to all opening and ending songs of aot. Also checkout aot Hiroyuki sawano project emu for the studio performances of aot songs

It’s been a lot of fun, was great to see you guys run through peak fiction. Saw you guys have FMA:B and that’s honestly the only anime show that matches up to AOT from a story perspective so I’m hoping that wins, I will be parked here to see it! ❤️

Théo Renard

Seriously you had the bet reaction one could hope, you were the only one I stuck through. Like you understands many things and we're very pertinent. Like it's probably the 3rd time I see this show and you catched more thing than I did lol. I hope I can see you reaction on more series like this, well I will at least catch you for arcane s2. Thank you for the good content.

Zebra

The important thing that they quite literally show is that mikasa was never a slave to eren because she was able to kill him despite loving him, whereas ymir was a slave to her love and could never kill fritz which led to her being trapped for 2000 years 😞 Mikasa being the antithesis of ymir is probably why Eren tells armin in the paths that mikasa is the one who comes to end ymir’s suffering 😭

Josey

You guys ready for Attack on titan next generations ?

kabinyo

This was so much fun, thanks to your reactions I got to experience the series I love all over again. The thing about this show is it sticks with you, I read the manga, watched the anime and still months later I'll randomly think about it. The theme of the cycle of hatred really gets to me. We see it everywhere in real life. I came away from the ending not thinking the cycle is impossible to break. But more so like Armin said, Eren's solution was wrong. He continued the cycle and the world did not learn to anything but it's "kill or be killed". The only way to break the cycle is to escape the forest and work to understand each other. I try to remember that lesson in own life. Anyway let me stop rambling, thanks again for the reactions I look forward to what you do next.

manne_36

Yeah. A lot of people are shocked to see her go back to Fritz but, they forget that she is a child going back to the only place that she knows as home. She also likely stayed for the children Rose,Maria, and Sina

BoredTonberry

Wait till they go back and see Jean and Mikasa at the tree. LOL

Oxy

I just want to say thank you to you guys for going through this show. You two are doing a great job with your channel. Looking forward to more videos!

Simontdk1

You guys picked up on sooooo much on your first watch compared to so many others! Here just a few things about the ending: - Ymirs Curse and the power of the titan ended because Mikasa Killed Eren. Ymir was bound because of her love for King Fritz but after seeing Mikasa kill the person she loved, Ymir was able to let go as well, and end the Titans power. - Eren secured peace for paradis and his friends for thousands of years. - It is implied the boy at the end may get the power of the titan as well and the cycle repeat, but that's not certain. Ymir was desperate to survive while being hunted and thus the ''being'' granted her the power of the titan to stay alive, and got used by the King as his slave to dominate the world, and eaten by her kids to past on the power (thus creating the subject of Ymir race). The Boy getting that power seems more hopeful. Unlike Ymir he wasn't being hunted but just explored. it's doubtful there'll be a tyrant like King fritz to control him the same way and he probably wont be forcing his children to eat him either. So I'd like to believe he would use the power he gets for good.

Oxy

There was a lot going on in the finale here but I’d like to hear both of your thoughts on the wrap up to Levi’s story. My fav character of the show - loved that he survived all of this

Its been a blast watching this masterpiece of a show with ya'll again. P.s Highly recommend aot junior high, its the best cope after watching the finale lol.

Zeng Malique

Congratulations i still crying till this day.

Dogman

I've sat with the ending for a while now and I do think its more hopeful than I initially gave it credit for. When you look at the end scene of the kid walking into the tree and contrast it with Ymir's experience, Ymir is getting chased down by dogs and uses the tree's power in a bad way. This new kid walks into the tree accompanied by a friendly loyal dog and does not appear to be in distress at all. Maybe he can use the power for something good, something that creates instead of just destroys. Even if Eren claims the cycle is unavoidable and everlasting, there are still people like Armin, Historia, and Azumbito who fight for peace and keep the hope alive that one day there will be no more unnecessary violence and death.

RiceC00ker

What an amazing journey!! Glad to be here from the start

DTLA

you can be a dick in fiction and not have it transfer to real life. I love rooting for the bad guys in fiction. Doesn't mean I support genocide in real life. Would have loved Eren to kill 100% and Floch to succeed in stopping the scouts. Doesn't mean I support genocide or violence in reali life. This isn't deep, dude, it says nothing about a person who he roots for in a tv show / manga.

LemonTart

Could you please react to all OP and ED >_<, I saw you both skip them every time. The meaning and symbol in there are awesome! Can't wait to see you notice it.

Bianca

The best series! Still mad that they didn't add the "see you later, eren" to the first episode like it was in the manga :(

Sean Carroll

its definitely not crazier but it is definitely a special experience to see all the insane clues and foreshaodiwing that Isayama put right in our faces and we never saw them

Sean Carroll

Maybe the real attack on titan... Is the friends we made along the way

Rae

This is just my personal opinion but I found the boy with the tree at the end to be somewhat hopeful. As Zeke said in this episode, the reason Ymir created the titan powers was because she wanted a stronger body to protect herself from the people attacking her. And she created the Paths because she wanted a world without death where she could be connected to everybody. So all the titan powers we know of came from Ymir's subconscious desires. If the kid walked into the tree there’s a possibility that he could wish for something completely different. Because unlike Ymir, who was terrified and being hunted by dogs, the kid is going into the tree willingly. He’s not being chased or afraid and the dog is his companion. In the episodic format, the final title card reads: “A world without Titans: Even if Titans disappear, the fear will not. Even if the number of people decreases, conflicts will not. Someone must wish for it someday. There should be a world where we can join hands, respect and talk to each other. The future is just around the corner” I’d like to think that “someone” is the boy with the dog.

Eldrick Simmons

Just watch more One Piece, One piece bodies AOT, it has a 1000 ep for a reason

Luca Martellucci

Can't wait to rewatch the series again with you ahahah

PO

Last episode of season 3, the necklace Historia gives Eren is in the shape of Eren's founding titan shape, check it out!!

Sally

So glad both of you enjoyed your AoT journey and a rewatch will be a mind blowing experience as well I think I appreciated the show more after a rewatch because of how well this story “dots it’s i’s and crosses it’s t’s” so to speak And to think Isayama (the creator) started writing this show at 19 is insane! He is a genius

Merfhew

"We plan on reacting to all of the Openings and Endings as well as the Attack On Titan suite soon"

Matthew White

When you realize the main character was Mikasa the whole time!

Slaizio

I loved the rewatch with you girls. See you in other shows (like One Piece)!

Julius

I enjoyed this ride! Can't wait for what's to come.

DTLA

I highly recommend rewatching it by the way. The only thing you should know when you start a rewatch is that the "flashback / dream" scene that Eren has in the first episode was adapted wrong by Wit. It should have been the "See you later, Eren" moment that Mappa included in the final episodes to make the ending make sense, but in the manga this scene from the very beginning was only Mikasa saying "See you later, Eren" before he woke up.

Marilyn Shi

I felt that Ymir was not so much “in love” with Fritz but felt indebted to him for the love she has for their children - and that was the unbreakable bond that Mikasa was able to help her break in the end Alsoooo - anyone else think Historia’s kid could be the reincarnation of Founder Ymir? Time of birth and death line up - and the name of the kid is undisclosed, but given Historia’s relationship with “our” Ymir, it’s not far fetched to think that the kid’s name is Ymir.

Marilyn Shi

Thank you two so much for bringing us along on your journey. You’re my favorite reactors by far, so sharp and intuitive and your empathy for the character is astounding!!! Well done 💕💕

Marilyn Shi

And Founder Ymir sticking around for so many years, making the titans whenever her CHILDREN called for them…. Obeying royal blood aka her descendants….. and throughout the episode there was always that caveat - “I THINK Founder Ymir..etc” “I don’t know the true depths of her heart” et etc etc

aryan2k2

I recommend yall watch the openings and endings with lyrics...There's so much meaning in them.

chrislu71 .

The end of an era... Sad that it's over but happy I got to come along for the journey with you two! Thank You

Julio Magdaleno

The greatest story ever told and no one will ever change my mind.

Blood Shot

y'all need to watch the first 5 minutes of episode 1 again

Rudy

I can see that definitely, but i think the king still had a mental hold on her somehow, maybe for his approval. Since she still came back to him after becoming so powerful but before having kids

Gin-liberio

Yimir had something called stockholm syndrome. At least that’s what she’s displayed. Obeying king Fritz and caring for him even after acquiring the power of a God. She fell in love with her captor and can’t let him go. And she was still a slave to his ideals after he was gone, building in the paths. There was a real instance I read about in 1974 of a hostage that fell in love with her captor. It’s like a coping mechanism to a captive or abusive situation. Some develop fond feelings toward their captors or abuser. Just like Yimir and now like Mikasa.

Adrian Czop

Okay now it’s time to watch JUJUTSU KAISEN!

My_Cousin_Mose

Halo going in to the finale expecting a masterpiece. Luckily the ending really is.

Kaden Koennecke

i have been WAAAAIIITTTING for this for what feels like FOREVER! this was a long week XD i loved to see that it hits everyone the same way lol. it is absolute ROLLER coaster of an episode, all sorts of ups and downs, curveballs, and subtle yet not so subtle reveals. and i will absolutely die on the hill that it is one of the absolute best anime's of all time. Naturally, even watching your reaction to it, it brought me to tears. i dont think anyone whos super emotionally invested can EVER watch the final episode and not get teary eyed. its just WAY too good for that. i absolutely loved your reactions to this they were absolutely perfect. I cant wait to see which you react to next! im hoping for jujutsu kaisen but Death Note is my close runner up haha

Anna Kyruin

Just going to leave this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIuB18tfwBY :D

DTLA

It wasn't Eren, it was Ymir. That's why the episode is called "To you, 2000 from now". Also, it was never mentioned or shown in any way that Eren saw anything more than the "See you later, Eren" moment with Mikasa, which included him dying, which would be more than enough to have him crying. In fact, Wit studios officially stated that the scenes they showed there in the anime were just picked "because they were cool" and that it should have only been the "See you later, Eren" moment, which is why Mappa had to include it in the specials in the end to make the end make sense.

Gin-liberio

For reactors you guys, genuinely made this show’s 5th rewatch for me sublime and invigorating. Thank you for your humanity and authenticity, hopefully the next journey is Deathnote fingers crossed. The one narrating this story was Armin himself. Isayama knew what would happen way before the last season. “On that day, mankind remembered..." "The fear of oppression under them, and the humiliation of being caged like birds" "Just because the wall has done its job for the past 100 years, it doesn't guarantee that it won't be destroyed today..."

Justice Hastings

If you guys decide to do the rewatch, are you going to record it? I think most of us would love to take part in discussions in the show now that spoilers aren’t an issue

Rj H

The very last scene with the kid going in the tree: Almost everyone has the same initial reaction because it feels like the same cliffhanger we’ve had every episode But the fact that the kids is wearing the scarf means he would know this story and therefore would not repeat the same mistakes regardless of what power he gets So it’s not really a cliffhanger because it shows that this entire story did have a purpose and changed something

Mesbah Mohamady

Thank you so much for this amazing journey ! Your reactions really will be missed !

dreg

Ymir absolutely still loved Fritz. Mikasa showed Ymir that despite loving someone, you can still do the right thing and protect the greater good by putting aside those feelings, which was saving humanity for Mikasa and protecting her children for Ymir. Ymir was never able to do the right thing and protect her children instead of being ruled by her love for Fritz, and Mikasa showed her that it was possible for Ymir to make a different decision. Basically, Mikasa did the thing Ymir was too weak to do, and it gave Ymir peace to know it was possible.

Kink Baron

Kiss & Haylo welcome back to comment section and thank you for everything - every bit of your reaction and emotion I'm gonna miss you butchering Bertolthotho and Rainahhhh name! :D

ohski

Ymir got the power of the Titans from the tree because when she went into it, she was DESPERATE to survive.. So the tree granted her wish to survive and she created an immortal body. The kid at the end doesn't seem to be in any perilous danger, so its possible that the tree will not grant that kid the same power. Maybe it'll make him rich or something. Also.. Mikasa loved Eren so much, yet in the end, had to kill him to stop something horrible from happening. Ymir loved Fritz, so she sacrificed her life instead of killing him and stopping him from doing horrible things. She had been loyal to him ever since. She needed someone like Mikasa to show her that she too can finally "kill" King Fritz and be free, even though she loves him.

Nat

How does having the scarf mean he would know the story?

Arimpact

The brilliance of this show was that the entire show was not the show, it was the end credit scene.

Nat

A lot of reactors skip them and watch them later. They said they would do the same

Nat

They literally said they would react to the OPs and EDs

Rj H

Because that’s the whole point of arming telling the story so that other people could pass it on too to the next generations And he wouldn’t be carrying scarf for any practical reasons unless the scarf had some meaning behind it

Tony Garcia

Odd to say, but you reacted to everything perfectly. You two really understood a lot of what people usually miss. It was a pleasure watching you react to this masterpiece of a story. Love yall 😊

Cation

What a time to be alive, I still remember the first day this show aired and we all were so intrigued about those tall titans that had so much mystery and then suddenly we were invested about the basement. Only to find out that it was just scratching the surface of what we would witness. I love AOT, I don't care what people think about the ending but the fact that it was S-tier from day one to the end is a testament of the amazing writing by Isayama. Thank you girls, bawled my eyes for the thousand times just watching this one with you made it extra bitter. Don't forget to take a week to just digest everything. Dedicate your heart. Tatakae

Skellyp

Fun fact. The start of the first special, with Mikasa reaching for erens head, then black screen, is literally in the first chapter of the manga (Japanese comic book and the source material). In the manga, it’s fallowed by Eren waking up from his long dream and Mikasa asks him why he's crying. One way to interpret this is that erens memories are sent back to him and he experiences everything we see in the show during that dream, then forgets when he wakes up. In a way, it could be like eren is trapped in an endless time loop, unable to change anything. And the way I see it, that scene with eren and mikasa at the cabin, that was what Eren wanted to happen had Mikasa confessed her love. But there’s no world in which she does so that can never happen.

RadicalMehdi

So, the love Mikasa had for Eren is the same Ymir had for Fritz, what Ymir wanted is the strength to kill the person she loves so she can be free and saw Mikasa do it (the little scene she imagined standing with her children looking at Fritz with a spear in him). ALSO Zeke did everything perfectly, awakened the titans to help them, had a closure moment with Ksaver and Grisha, enjoyed life and nature for a minute AND called for Levi to kill him and finally get his revenge ... Like seriously, he's the MVP.

Solemnity

If those 2 numbers were stated, then I 100% follow, I just don't recall that information whatsoever. I'll take your word for it though.

RadicalMehdi

Now what I think is, if you remember Ymir was chased (by dogs and people) and had to run towards that tree with a lot of fear and need of power to defend herself, but we see the opposite with the little boy, he went to the tree with curiosity to discover (no fear and with a dog) so even if he sees and touch that parasite it will not turn him as a titan because we know that this parasite acts as god and gives you what you need the most so MAYBE (that's my opinion) only good things will happen.

RadicalMehdi

This is exactly what I think GOD (Isayama) went for, and it makes SO MUCH sense.

Solemnity

@Phillip If I'm Eren or Floch, with the exact same circumstances, I'm more than likely making the exact same decisions they did. I'd probably take the shifters ability to use their powers during the Rumbling as well. The montage at the end proves (at least what Isayama thinks) that Eren failed to prevent war against his people (though it's entirely possible they started it). If Eren did a 100% Rumbling, the worst case scenario is civil war rather than retaliation war. Neither I nor anybody sane is claiming genocide is morally correct (if I have to even state that), just that it would inarguably be the single most effective way to end the persecution of Eldians.

HungryConnor

There's a shot just after annie gets thrown on the top of Erens spine of 2 titans running towards her, these are strongly believed to be the future incantations of the boy and dog as titans showing that they do infact bring back the power of the titans, repeating history and continuing the cycle.

Regie Khemvisay

Peace was temporary but long. But humanity will continue to choose war. There wouldn’t be a WW2 or the current wars now if we ever learned from history. AOT is Iseyama-sensei’s love letter to this war infested world. Everyone: why is Eren’s final form so spiney Halo: it’s perfect for ODM gear Dammm! You guys are soooo soooo smart.

Kevin Narciso

Now that this series has concluded for ya'll, I'm going to mention why this season (IMO opinion, fell down a hill). -Falco flying. There has been no Titan in this show that can fly. All Jaw Titans have zero resemblance to having wings. The moment Falco came with the rest of the crew to save the day, ALL dread, suspense and fear went out the window -Even after the Marleyan commander mentioned peace, they began fighting again for no reason in the middle of the end of the world. It felt so forced, unnecessary and cheap. -How did they know where eren is. Usually its the nape but somehow Mikasa just knew he was in the mouth. Did I miss something? -Berth and Eren knows Reiner can move his consciousness and yet tries to make the audience feel some sort of cheap emotional response when we know he is fine. IMO, just kill Reiner if you want an actual emotional response. -Nobody died -Everyone and their grandma kept getting saved last second. It almost felt like a parody in how often it happened. Just this last episode I lost count. The writer again trying to give a cheap emotional response. -Jean and Conny reverting back to being human. It was the BEST scene of the episode and that moment was robbed from us just moments later. The two of them were only human, and their stories were pretty much wrapped up. I thought this would be an amazing way to say goodbye, but nope. Again, cheap. -Levi finally killing Zeke felt cheap and dumb because his character development should've done that episodes ago but IMO the writer tried to make a convoluted storyline to give Zeke plot armor until the final episode to move the plot forward. Which I felt zero satisfaction. I wanted Zeke to die ever since he caused the death of Erwin, but the fact I felt nothing when he finally did die meant that his death felt cheap and tackey. -The scene where Eren confessed he wanted Mikasa all this time while crying during the flashback sequence felt so out of place. It literally felt like a comedy. And right after when Armin determined all of this was his fault just cause he showed Eren that book was so dumb. IMO Isayama-san didn't know how to properly end the series with an amazing start. Voice actors carried this hot mess.I don't know, I expected more and was extremely disappointed. Maybe because I waited so long for this finale while reactors and Manga readers didn't wait as long. To compare to another IP that I waited years for a conclusion; if you look at Endgame, that movie was consistent throughout the beginning of the marvel series, There were highs and lows, as well as deaths and sacrifice. There were zero deaths other than the main villain (Eren). All things considered, if you enjoyed this ending; than I'm jealous of you. I wish I did but I guess that's on me. The scene that only stood out to me was seeing the Erwin and the fallen scouts. That part brought tears to my eyes. Everything else fell flat.

he also changed the ending twice, manga was different, then he changed the manga ending due to backlash, then attempted another ending in the anime. just doesnt know how to write an ending, And i gotta mention the obvious obfuscation of the horrible things Japan did during WW2 by focusing on a German - Based holocaust theme as is with most Japanese war anime. I'm looking at YOU fullmetal alchemist.....

Akira Hyerim

Hell nah, it's ur opinion. It might be like that to yall avg anime fans, but for non anime watchers AOT is unbeatable. It has everything that a fiction needs to have that's not typical anime type, it's more mature, serious, fast and well paced and doesn't need 1000 eps to be the greatest. And not to mention the fkn unnecessary fanservice and filler eps that one piece has along with EVERY other fkn anime has except AOT, a masterpiece for a reason. I'm a non anime fan and I've watched both OP and AOT yet AOT is the one that did it for me as it did for many other countless ppl.

Kevin Narciso

I'm glad someone gave a civilized response. I guess feeling the ending was a mess was not coincidence.

Akira Hyerim

Ik yall r gonna react to every intros and outros of this show but Please react OSTs like Call of Silence and Call your name, you see big girl, apple seed and TkT!!!!! These r the songs that u guys liked so much as the background tracks remember??!! They r absolutely beautiful and beloved part of AOT and it'll be so nostalgic when u re-listen to them as full songs!!

Iceman Radioactive formerly Joe (Moore)-An, a.k.a. No Meds Muscles Ripley, Stalwart Neelix Defender, currently adrift in space

also, you forgot to mention that Eren could have eliminated all eldians ability to turn into titans at any point other than in the end, which means that was always an option, He could also eliminate the genetic markers that would show up in the dna tests to confirm they are eldians. This means that he could have taken paradis into the rest of the world in secret and they would never be able to tell who they are, other than practical knowledge of the world, which could be aquired.....most likely from Eren having that knowledge through the memories of eldians off paradis, then adding it to the memories of paradis through the paths.....

David

Okapis are real, they look cute

Kevin Narciso

I mean, you got a point. That definitely sounds like a better alternate ending than (IMO) having a villain who was once a hero being forced down our throats. But again this show is all about that meme 'never let them expect your next move'. So I could see why Isayama-San went down this route. I just wish I could've resonated with it better.

baja

He cant Ymir would keep on making the monstrosity to expand the eldian clan. Eren has no choice, he is the embodiment of ymir's will for freedom. Thats why he said he was an idiot. That was the only decent outcome for an embodiment like him

oikeeherkku

That wasnt the moment Armin remembered Eren visiting him. Him on the boat was the time Eren visited him the last time. Also Mikasa and Eren being in the cabin was him visiting her. He also wanted to be together with her. I dont understand why people say that they werent in love. They definitely were.

Hans

NOOO LOL. 55:00 and onward is FACTS. Best react channel; from the discussions, appreciation of the scenes, music, and themes of the show; you never miss a detail. It's been a ride and I'm sad it's over. I love how philosophical AoT is within the mix of genres/themes it covers. And yes, the rewatch is CRAZY once you know everything; the details you'll catch will further your appreciation for sure. Found y'all thru The Last of Us and I'll be sticking around!

thanksalready

It's been fantastic watching the show with you. Glad you loved it!

Rafael Ramirez

Genocide would have been a temporary answer since as you said, the cycle doesn't stop. Therefore, it would have been a terrible answer regardless to think that a massacre of innocents alongside your enemies would bring peace.

Jeremy

NO MR.PRESIDENT!!! DON'T GO IN THERE!!!! 🤣 Glad you guys liked the series. I'm just here for AOT but sub to your patreon again if you guys start Death Note or Invincible

Rafael Ramirez

Yeah it's more about crippling a worldwide infrastructure to where it's forced to operate on the level of the self sufficient one in Paradis that has done so for 100 years. Paradis will have caught up to them enough to be seen as equals by the time the outside world is able to operate efficiently enough to potentially retaliate.

Jeremy

Ending definitely feels rushed which I get from Isayama's point of view. He definitely seemed like he was done with AOT torwards the end

Luis Galarza

Seems the girl in blue may have spoiled the ending for herself . Just a couple red flags from her reaction . Maybe I’m crazy whatever …

Skellyp

Jaren and Jorden just finished AoT also. They’re brothers that watched it as their first anime also. It’d be cool if you all did a collaboration discussion about AoT.

Ciara Pitt

Im so sad the series is over you guys were my reason for rewatching aot and i loved it 10000 times more on the second rewatch i shed just as many tears along with y’all for the second time now it will never not be sad.

Costosou

Is kiss seeing memories from the future? At 2:01 she made an awesome prediction! Hahahahaha jokes aside this proves how much they understand this show

Rafael Ramirez

There's not a special ending they mean specials in the end as the final chapters part 3 and 4 released for the end of the show

Rafael Ramirez

Pokemon has more than 1200 episodes so I guess Pokemon > One Piece. Why even waste time with One Piece when you can watch the masterpiece that is the Pokemon anime am i right

Fredrik Larsson

Thanks for bringing along for this amazing journey, I've enjoyed every minute of it. I started watching on youtube but I had to sign up to patreon just to watch it earlier. Thanks again and Shinzou Wo Sasageyo

Nat Li

The falco bit can be explained, he ingested some of Zekes spinal fluid giving him some qualities of the beast titan which can take any form of “beast” I guess

Rafael Ramirez

Once you get used to the author's writing and pay attention to as much details as you can you can understand what he's trying to get across and where the show is going. Characters are written very well for the most part so it gets easier to guess how someone will respond to a situation or when they are lying. It's not that she got spoiled but more so that the author did a good job laying out all the clues.

Nat Li

Also you probably didn’t feel satisfied with zekes death because he died completely satisfied with himself almost happy, I assume anyone who hates a character that much would want them to die a painful death 😂. I do however agree that the ending wasn’t great.

j m

tbh I've yet to come across another anime that is as in depth and twisting as AOT but there are plenty of amazingly written anime with incredible stories, visuals, and all the feels. The 3 in your current poll are just that. Will have you feeling all the emotions and feeding your eyes with visuals. Looking forward to more reactions!

j m

You have to understand they've watched the entire show without year+ long breaks. It's easier for them to make connections because their memory isn't needing a reminder on small details. When I watched the final episode I was thinking wtf is the place Eren naps at until I seen the tree. Plus a lot more scenarios just like that as I'm sure a lot of viewers had similar experiences and needed some reminders

MacarooniR0b

When you react to the OPs, listen to the full versions and have lyric translations if you can. Also, check out OP 1 and 3 (Guren no Yumiya and Shinzou wo Sasageyo) performed live by Linked Horizon.

I truly appreciate the fact that you two note the complexity in Eren’s character. He is one of the most authentically human characters ever written in a show. I feel like most reactors miss this. Most people tend to focus on looking for some type of redemption in his character or reason to justify his actions that they miss out on all the nuance … the beautiful and the horrific. Eren Yeager was bringer of life. Eren Yeager was a bringer of death. Eren Yeager was a friend. Eren Yeager was an enemy. He loved and was loved. He hated and was hated. He unleashed fear on the world. He freed the world from that same fear. He was selfless enough to sacrifice his image, his desires, and his life for his people and his friends. He was selfish enough to flatten the world because he was disappointed that it wasn’t empty and waiting to be discovered like he had pictured in his mind. Eren Yeager was a 19 year old hero that got his hands on power. Eren Yeager was a 19 year old tyrant that got his hands on power.

Kevin

Just wanted to thank you guys so much for your genuine reactions! Already a classic among the AoT reactions on Patreon/Youtube, and I’m certain any list compiling all the best reactors will have your channel on it.

Zain kb

Levi didn’t look like he was satisfied in the manga after killing zeke, here he looked like his eyes fueled with hunger to kill him, i don’t think it’s about hatred, he was enraged about himself failing to kill him when erwin and the entire group suicided for the exactly purpose of him killing the beast titan plus for the rumbling to stop too, he’s so loyal to erwin and respect him it’s a promise i don’t think it’s about revenge

vvs

despise this ending

Nando

He never changed the ending though? It’s still the same ending, it’s just that the dialogue was altered to better suit his vision, this has been done since season 1 when he didn’t like how he did certain scenes in the manga, everyone knows this. Either you got lied to or you like spreading misinformation.

Nat

I don’t think you know what a red flag is

Nat

Most of what you’re complaining about has been explained, or could be made sense of if you just think for a minute.

fr0st

What an incredible journey!

Javier

I just want to add, that the link of mikasa and Ymir was, that ymir needs to watch with her own eyes, someone capable of kill their love for a greatest purpose, thats the reason she was when mikasa kissed eren's head. Ymir needs to contemplate that scenario and that gave her the understanding for rest in peace.

Costosou

This is my opinion to what have you said: -Falco flying: They said due to Falco drinking Zeke's spinal fluid he saw some "memories" of zeke, but i think the memories were from some beast titan who could fly, also maybe the influence of beast titan's powers within jaw structure could contribute to Falco's abilty to fly. -They fighting in the middle of the end of the world: I cant see this scene as fighting, i just can see how a group of marleyans who have seen the destruction of the rumbling having precaution against some unknown eldians who might turn into titans, who could know? -Mikasa knowing how eren is in the mouth: First time i saw this i was confused too, but later i caught some details like when they blow up his nape the "source of living matter" or however they call it went direct to his head and also maybe in his connection in the paths she realized. -Reiner not dying: Well i see this more a personal opinion because i think eren didnt put all the effort he could to kill him(bert was being controlled by eren at this moment). -Nobody died: Well, zeke died, 80% of humanity died, all these past 3 seasons characters died, there is a lot of death and destruction in this show, in my oppinion is enough. -Everyone kept getting saved last second: Isn't this show allways doing things at the last second? Plot twists, deaths, trasnformations, even saving someone. Not only in this epsiode, i mean, is the typical "dramatism" of the manga, dont forget this is a japanese manga and mangas have this type of "cliches", also i think thats the line that the writter wants for his story. -Jean and Conny reverting back: Isn't best way of wrapping up a story than leting the characters live his life peacefully? I mean, again i repeat that during the show there is a lot of death and destruction, this anime has so much meaning, anti-belicism, anti-racism trying to show us that inside we are all the same, trying to teach that the lives of everyone matters even if you dont know him(this is not as simple as it sounds but you have to understand what involves it), so i think is fair for us as viewers and for they as a characters who have suffered the most to let them have some peace. Also if Eren see in his memories that nearly all his friends die and one of his strongest motivations is that they can live long lives, whats the point on doing what he's doing then? Even him would abandon i think. -Levi finally killing Zeke: I understand your feelings, for a lot of us Zeke deserved death from the moment he killed Erwin, and yes Isayama gave him some plot armor to letting the plot to continue, but for example for me Zeke death was so meaningfull, i care a lot for Levi and letting him ending his mission was so nice. Anyway the story cant be allways realistic, is fiction, we are seeing humans transforming into titans between other things, the important thing here is what this story try to teach us. BUT meanings aside, we all feel different things so its totally understanable how you (and sure more people)felt. -The scene of eren confession and what armin said: As a man who when was at the age of eren loved someone for many Years until the point of feeling that you can give your life for her i could only say that this is a perfect portray of how a young man of 19-20yo(age where you still being too young and is common to not having rational emotions/ thoughts about love and relationships) can lose composure and start to saying childish things like the ones he say(even in relations of mature people things like this are said)due to his "unknown" feelings about love and what love is, if you arent prepared or dont have experience about love It is common to manage feelings like this. In other hand, what armin said to Eren is a way to give Eren some peace, is a noble act of Armin letting Eren think that his friend carry his terrible sins with him even if what Armin said isnt true. Well, as I said at the beginning, this is just my humble opinion. But as a Marvel fan with a family full of Marvel fans since 1956 i can tell you with 100% security that Endgame was like 30% consistent... (Plot hole with the pym particle, the chitauri plot hole. When Captain America returns the stones, how does he repair the Tesseract? How does he get the Mind Stone back in the scepter? How does he return the Soul Stone?)I can spend here all the day hehe but this is not moment to talk about Avengers. Peace <3

I loved watching you two react to my favorite anime:) Can't wait for the next show. *Forever Your Patreon*

To me the boy wearing the scarf was just a neat parallel to the trio. Eren and Armin's curiosity of the world along with the scarf for Mikasa.

Gin-liberio

Elaborate, I want to see the explanation…. I doubt it’s a sensible mature one though.

Gin-liberio

Rushed? I just think people like you need to genuinely ponder and try to be cognizant of what this show portrays. Yall hate on the ending because some of you interpret it in such an unrealistic way that it detracts from the sublimely profound message of this show. Im always perplexed when people say that. This show is parallel to our world in almost every way but I guess even in the real world, people aren’t aware of reality even when it slaps them in their face.

Blue42

It’s always the same, funny reaction when everyone sees the tree… it’s always “wait……….NOOO!!!”😂🤣

Gin-liberio

No, I think it’s an actual reality that happened. He pulled each of them into the paths and each one experienced something. And with Mikasa she experienced 4 years with Eren alone. Feel free to drop a rebuttal.

Christian

Please react to the Hiroyuki Sawano / Project【emU】 “Attack on Titan” suite. They play some of the soundtracks including singers live.

Skellyp

In the real world of AoT, it never happens, but it’s what could have been had she been able to confess. Is my interpretation of it.

Piranhaconda

In case noone has mentioned it: that spine looking "life" creature is called "Hallucigenia" in real life. It's a worm that apparently lived 500+ millions years ago. So we might just be on another cycle that's coming up!

I love Eren and Armin’s conversation at the end so much because these two characters both self-reflect and admit their own flaws that led to this tragedy. Eren admits that he didn’t like the world because it was different from the world he imagined, and instead of modifying his expectations (having to continue to fight for safety in a more complex world), he instead tried to modify reality to fit his own expectations (by killing everyone). Essentially, it was the world’s biggest temper tantrum. Eren dreamed of going out there and exploring fiery rivers and snowy sands once he broke through the walls. But when he realized he couldn’t because other people were out there, he simply decided to kill everyone. For Armin, his contribution to this tragedy was actually the fact that he planted the idea of a free uninhabited world in Eren’s brain. Just because he read it in an old book, Armin believed it wholeheartedly, and continuously rallied his friends around this dream. “Trust me guys, if we only break through the walls, we can go out exploring the wonders of the world!” But as we know, that wasn’t the case. His flaw was that he believed in something he read without getting proof - basically Armin spread fake news. In the conversation with Eren, Armin says “no one would believe that the idea that ended up motivating Eren to kill everyone actually came from me”. Armin’s belief without proof and Eren’s clinging onto a disproven belief worked perfectly together to create this monstrous outcome. When they say they will see each other in hell, I think it means they fully acknowledge their own contributions to the tragedy and willfully share the blame. As a side note, this part was actually missing from the manga ending. Eren continued to push the narrative that he did all this just to save his friends, and Armin never has this realization. I’d like to think that the anime version of Eren and Armin is the “true ending”, where they both fully understand what went wrong with themselves. In the manga version, the end credits scene actually shows Eldia being dragged into war much earlier (probably only a couple hundred years later, we see modern-ish buildings), unlike the anime’s sci-fi skyscrapers. Everything in the anime ending was the same as the manga except for the few lines of extra dialogue during Armin and Eren’s conversation. I’d like to think that these few lines of self-reflection was what gave the anime version of Eldia 1,000 more years of life and prosperity, because Armin would have told his story differently and people would have learned more about human nature.

These girls are my favorite group to have watched this show with. AoT is a top 3 show for me, if not my favorite. Idk about anime, but Breaking Bad is one of the only other shows that’ve given me a comparable feeling to AoT in the last decade. Also Better Call Saul is great, too.

Sean Carroll

People that say they hate the ending can never explain why in any way that I can’t refute. I look forward to seeing if you are different

You'll find yourself drawing parallels to AoT from media you consume here on out. The themes are relatively common, but few stories explore them in as thought provoking and beautiful a manner. Blessing and a curse lol. Anyway, was lovely being on this ride with you guys for the past 7 months. Your insights, empathy and genuine love for the characters/show was phenomenal to watch. Can't wait to see what you guys do next (and personally very much looking forward to an Arcane S2 reaction later this year). Thank you!

Ideophagous

The ending in the manga caused havoc in the community back then, because it seemed very rushed, and had many missing details. I remember how terrible that week was for me, when the last chapter dropped. I was so frustrated and couldn't sleep well or concentrate on anything. The anime on the other hand fleshed out the story and themes so well, and improved the dialogues and scenes, to create a fitting ending, and keep AOT on the top of my favorite TV shows of all time.

Make sure to watch the ops and endings with subtitles, the lyrics add son much!

Had to come back for another comment :P As you react to the OP and ED of all seasons, I think it'd also be great for you to check out the soundtrack performances. "Hiroyuki Sawano / Project【emU】 “Attack on Titan” suite" is a performance of some of the music in Seasons 1-3 with the composer, Hiroyuki Sawano himself, on the piano. Also, I don't know if you will, but some time in the future I'd love to see a rewatch of the show. Much love to the both of you. <3

Aison Magday

Don't know if you guys caught these but I just want to point them out now that you've finished the series. The headaches Mikasa got was Ymir peeking into her memories. Ymir saw herself in Mikasa and the reason she was the "chosen one" was because they both loved someone who would bring darkness to the world but Ymir couldn't kill her love whereas Mikasa could. That's the ending Eren worked towards because Mikasa closing that chapter in Ymir's story meant closure for Ymir and thus she could let go of her twisted love and end the Titans. Eren chose the path that would give his friends the closest to a peaceful life where Mikasa and Armin survive, but he knew it wasn't going to end the violence. Also, the paths existed as Ymir's little heaven and all Eldians didn't go into the afterlife but were trapped in the paths because Ymir was looking for connection. I think that's how memories were tied to the shifters as well as why Zeke said the line "If it meant being reborn again..." in the scene with Kasaver. Ending the Titans meant saying goodbye to Ymir's "immortality" and that's why the scouts said a final goodbye to their friends before fading away forever. I think Mikasa understood this as she said RIP to Ymir. This story is so deep you will continue to find more things the more you rewatch it. Thank you for giving us the pleasure of experiencing the show for the first time again vicariously through you!

GOAT animation right?

Jake the Movie Geek

I disagree. I mean I’ve been theorizing that Eren is a Slave to Freedom all the way back in season 3 when Kenny said his famous line. I also theorized that Falco could fly and going by the chapter title I guessed that past generations of the Nine Titans would come back in some form. So it’s not really getting spoiled. It’s more about paying close attention to the story and see what the author is putting out there.

Well its been a fun ride re-watching this beautiful show with you guys, if you will excuse me I'm going to go cry now.

Death Note ;)

NomadCisco

I don’t think so. Thanos was killing half a plantes resources so that they could have a better chance of survival. Eren was trying to kill EVERYONE else so that there would be no retaliation against his people. It’s not the same.

Reginald

eren never tried to kill everyone. He was only following the plan until his friend did their thing. he killed enough so that way his friends had “a better chance at survival”

Jake the Movie Geek

I’m going to try to debunk everything you said. I’m sorry that you didn’t like the ending. I’m being genuine when I say this: it sucks to be you. Because for someone like me who has read the manga and watched the anime mmmm maybe 6-7 times (before the finale aired) I would genuinely feel terrible after putting all that time to hating the finale. So I’m thankful. Here we go! -Falco flying is something I’ve been theorizing for awhile. Rewatching the series definitely helps if you don’t pick up on the details. 1- Falco’s dream of flying and calling out to the bird during his introduction. 2: The Marleyan General jokingly asking “We don’t have any Titans with wings do we?” 3: The spinal fluid that turned him was from a Beast Titan with Royal Blood. 4: When we first see his Jaw Titan transformation he literally is bird like. He has feathers, a beak, and talons. That’s the moment when I thought Falco is going to fly. 5: His name is literally Falco like a Falcon. 6: This is something I didn’t pick up on myself but when Eren and Zeke first make contact you can see a large bird flying towards a mountain. We now know this to be Falco. So it has nothing to do with the Jaw Titan. It’s all about the Beast and more importantly a Beast Titan with Royal Blood. As for all fear and dread going out the window, in that moment yes. Because Falco brought hope. But dread and fear kept coming back like when Reiner starts getting destroyed by the Warhammer Titans, When Annie Mikasa & Connie are surrounded by Titans, definitely when everyone gets turned into Titans and it’s just Reiner Annie & Pieck holding onto the Source of all Living Matter with their friends and family trying to stop them as Titans. Also the scenes of the Rumbling around the world. The moment right before Armin transforms gave me worry and dread. Also when Eren’s final transformation happens. I apologize if this is sounding garbled but I’m typing this down as it’s popping in my head. But i can keep going: When the Marleyans turn their guns onto the Eldians. The credits scene when Paradis gets attacked. -The reason why the Marleyan commander turned his guns onto Eldians is because he was afraid. You forgot to mention the previous scene when the Marleyans are helping the Eldians. The Marleyan Commander even asks Annie’s dad if his leg is alright and helps him up. And then all of a sudden they all just turn into Titans. You can see that the Marleyan Commander is afraid when he looks up and sees the people he was aiding are now Titans. So later he’s acting out of fear. And it’s also to show the cycle of violence. But as we see Armin is able to calm his fears by saying if we still had Titan abilities we would use them here and now to defend ourselves. -At first they aren’t sure where Eren is. On the Flying Boat they assume the nape if it’s like any normal Titan. But Levi brings up the Warhammer’s ability. So Eren could be anywhere. Pieck places the bombs on the nape because it’s the most obvious first place to strike. Eren obviously doesn’t die but the Source of all Living Matter comes out of his neck and goes towards Eren’s head. So that’s where Eren must be. -I think this is more of a personal viewing experience about could Reiner die after Armin’s Colossal Titan explosion. For me I felt a little nervous for him but when Pieck says calmly and reassuringly that Reiner will probably be fine, it settled the nerves I had. And I also considered that Reiner has survived a lot up to this point. In the moment I felt more sadness towards their fallen Warriors and Comrades who were helping them because they’re about to “die” again. Going back to Reiner, I think it was more about the fact that the character of Reiner himself didn’t know if he would live or not but he was going to keep this thing from reaching Eren’s head at all costs. And as a viewer who likes Reiner I was happy that he survived. -Nobody died? 80% of humanity died. We see the Rumbling a lot in this 2 part finale. Floch officially died not long ago. Hange literally just died. Eren died. Ymir finally died. People on Paradis died during that war thousand plus years into the future. We see Mikasa finally die of old age later which means all of the characters we’ve been following have already passed on or will soon. Which brought a tear for me. In the moment we think Jean, Connie, Gabi, the Eldians from the Internment Zone are dead. But I’ll get more into that later. -People kept getting saved: I personally didn’t notice it but I think that’s because that’s just a writing cliche the author uses. But I feel like you could use that argument anywhere in the show. I’ll do it right now. Eren saving Mikasa in Trost: Trost is huge and Eren’s Titan just so happens to be in that particular alleyway? And Mikasa runs out of gas at that particular alleyway? Trost is huge. So the fact that Eren shows up to save her is pretty ridiculous. I’ll go again. Eren saving Mikasa in Season 2: Of all the Titans to come across Eren and Mikasa, when they’re injured without a horse, is Dina. The key for giving Eren the power to save themselves. You could argue that’s pretty convenient that it just so happens to be Dina. Again I think this is another personal viewing experience. It didn’t bother me because this show has been all about sudden twists and turns. If you pay attention you can catch the author’s writing style. Which is why it didn’t affect me. -The scene of Jean and Connie accepting that they’re about to be turned into Titans is an epic scene. I had to pause the episode because I was crying my eyes out. I felt so sorry for also Falco & Gabi. But I was so relieved when I saw them back. I was happy! You have to remember that Eren is doing this to save his friends so that they can live long happy lives. Afterwards people could criticize that well Eren’s plan was pointless because in the end 75% of his friends died by him doing the Rumbling. So at that point critics could argue it was all for nothing. But with them coming back after the power of the Titans is gone, then only 2 of Eren’s friends died in the process of his plans. Which we see later even that affects Eren. -I’ve always thought that the people who hate Zeke after him killing Erwin are pretty ridiculous. I totally get feeling that way at first but with season 4 we learn that one of the main themes of AOT is that it’s all about perspective. Once we got Zeke’s backstory, Zeke became one of my favorite characters in the whole show. He’s an awesome character! Why didn’t Levi kill Zeke earlier? I take it that you mean in the Forest of Giant Trees. You have to remember that Levi isn’t like you. He doesn’t kill Zeke immediately out of revenge and anger for Erwin’s death because he’s rational. He’s not like child-like Eren who just acts on immediate emotion. Levi is a more cool calculated character. Don’t get me wrong he 100% wants to kill Zeke to keep his promise to Erwin. But during that time of the story, the higher ups are still trying to figure out what’s going on with both Zeke & Eren. Which is why both are in custody and the volunteers are under house arrest. The higher ups are trying to piece together what’s going on. Levi and the higher ups also acknowledge that if they want to have the full power of the Founding Titan they need a Titan with Royal blood. As that drunk MP guy says later that they would’ve fed Zeke to Historia immediately but she’s pregnant and they don’t know what that’ll do to the child by turning Historia into a Titan. And part of the plan is for Historia to have descendants. So I think what you have to remember is that Levi isn’t like Eren or Floch. He’s doing what’s best for the Paradis. Which is what a calm cool level headed leader would do. I think the reason why you felt nothing when he died is because you didn’t want Zeke to have a character arc. For someone like me who loves both Levi and Zeke I was very satisfied with Zeke’s death. Zeke is a tragic character. I was happy that Levi fulfilled his promise to Erwin and basically is the one who stopped the Rumbling. Man, I went on a long time with this one. -Eren’s Confession: This is who Eren is. The mask is off. There are people who wanted Eren to be this edgy ruler of the world. That’s not Eren’s character at all. Eren is like a little kid. His dream of the outside world not being true led him to thinking alright I’m so disappointed by this because it’s not what I dreamed of so I’ll just wipe it all away. Eren’s facade is something I theorized was fake before S4 P2. I didn’t buy the table scene at all. If you pay attention Eren can barely bring himself to make eye contact with them because it’s so painful for him. And here’s a slight detail that I missed: When Eren turns back to Armin after beating him up saying “Who are you calling a slave?” you can see tears welling up in the corner of Eren’s eye! It’s such a tiny detail it’s awesome! The tear is showing this was painful for Eren to do this to his best friends but he needs to create that separation for his plan. As we see in Season 1-3 Eren has always had these child like tendencies. Making childish claims: I want to see the outside world! I want to eradicate the Titans and save humanity! I want take revenge for my mom! I was always like okay kid. We see in the early seasons that Eren makes these big claims but always needs rescuing. On his first mission as a cadet he literally gets his entire team killed because he’s hotheaded. He acted on emotion. He dragged his little team into battle against this one titan for killing one of them and that got his team killed. As I’m typing this I’m realizing how that connects with Eren in season 4 w/ the Rumbling but on a much larger scale to a degree. Eren has always been a raging child. His character started with “I’m going to kill every last Titan” and that changes to “I’m going to kill everyone”. Fundamentally Eren has been the same character but in season 4 he’s had this mask on. But in the finale we get to see him without the mask on. This false facade is gone and we get to see him break down and cry. When Armin is talking to him he (Eren) literally says he’s just an idiot who found a lot of power and the only answer he has to all of his problems is rage. He says he’s a slave to freedom. Eren can’t escape his nature which is an idiot whose only answer to anything is violence. During Season 4 Part 1 everyone is questioning when did Eren change. For me watching it, when it got to the scene of the kidnappers with Zeke & Eren in the Paths that’s when I figured out that Eren never changed. He’s always been like this. He has always been a kid who is having a temper tantrum but he just happens to get so much power that his temper tantrum changes the entire world. Eren really is the only character who never changes. Eren has always been like this and it’s totally in line with his character. Eren Yeager is the perfect example of “You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain”. People had in their minds of who they wanted Eren to be and that just isn’t who Eren as a character is. He’s still the kid from the start of the series. The reason he did the Rumbling is so that his friends could live long happy lives. And he also just wanted to do it as he said. He wanted to see the sight of him obtaining freedom. As for Armin taking blame is really simple to answer: Look at Armin as a character. He’s super hard on himself. From the start he sees himself less than his friends. When Levi chooses Armin over Erwin, Armin agrees that it was a huge mistake to choose him. Armin even admits this multiple times in the Final season. Armin calls himself trash, lower than dirt. He was given this second life and he thinks he’s letting everyone down. Basically Armin is hard on himself. So Armin sharing the blame makes sense for his character. He blames himself for putting the ideas of an empty free world in Eren’s head. Is Armin to blame? No of course not that’s ridiculous as the audience should come to think. But it’s in Armin’s character 100% for him to feel somewhat responsible even though it isn’t true. And you also have to realize that Eren is dying so he’s trying to comfort his friend by shouldering the sins with him. Well that’s it. Thanks to anyone who read the whole thing. To Kevin: I am sorry you didn’t like the finale. Like I said it would 100% suck to be you in this situation. I love AOT. I agree with the overall sentiment that it’s peak fiction. I’m glad that the majority of people love it. I went into this finale knowing that the ending was hated. When I finished the finale I said “What did people hate about this?” AOT as of now is my favorite show of all time. I’m not sure anything can top it. Hopefully you could at least come to understand why others love the finale. If not maybe just let it go. I know easier said than done.

Eren was visiting armin throughout their life growing up giving him bits and pieces of the future (as they showed them getting older) until he tells him what his future ends at on the boat, just to erase his memories every time until he dies, is tragic 🥲

Y’all should do a character tear list from this show 👀

When Mikasa and Eren were at that cabin, it was Eren speaking with her thorough paths and even tho it was just a second in real time, it was 4 years in the time of paths ( yes, it is true). He gave her an opportunity to live with him, happy and in love and that is what would happen if she said that she loved him back then when he asked: what am I to you? He asked that even tho he knew the future answer because he was so desparate and was doing everything in his power for her to maybe change his final decision, so he asked even tho he knew that she would say. If you watch AoT again, you will see that he was actually in love with her but he was just a boy lost in his idea of freedom because of his suffering. One sad moment for me is when he was talking with Zeke about Ackerman's power. Zeke was telling him that she protects him because she loves him and then asked him what will he do with her. It just like a brother to brother conversation about a girl that he loves but that love isn't possible in this sad universe. And when Eren cried, some people say that it is pathetic but he is just 19, he never expressed his love, he was always keeping his emotions to himself because there is no point in having them. His breakdown just showed that he really is just a broken boy. The only thing that lets me sleep at night is knowing that maybe in that 4 year timespan that they spent in paths, in that cabin together, they were able to live a life filled with love they always wanted to have but never could ( it is a popular joke in AoT fandom that they possible did IT in that cabin because how long they were there, that is another thought that keeps me sane after this heartbreaking ending). For me, it is the best love story.

When you watch the opening and ending songs, watch them with lyrics. The lyrics for the show It's a masterpiece.

You see the baby’s mom pregnant in the first special episode, when Eren leaves the auditorium for the Eldian group and he’s thinking about what his own mom would think

Thank you so much for sharing your AOT journey.

They finished it already? Damn, they are just at the start of season 2 on youtube

The last chapter of this anime/manga was a total mess. Alot of things didn't make sense.

That's just the manga, the anime was solid and fixed the eren and armin conversation

would you guys be willing to watch the attack on titan high? it's a parody of aot with their va and it has alot of parallels from the show. it's very funny and lighthearted. I think you guys need it after the finale. this way you kinda revisit the show again 🥹

Skellyp

yeah, on patreon they were doing an episode a day basically

Nat

Yes, junior high was adorable they need to watch it

Nat

I feel like a lot of the people that I’ve seen complain about the ending are just whining about things that “don’t make sense” but they actually do make perfect sense and have been explained. Or they can be figured out if people just use their heads

Nat

This is why he’s one of my favorite characters in all of fiction

Gin-liberio

It boggles my mind how every time you tell them to explain their unrealistic hatred for the realistic ending, their brain seemingly short circuits & are unable to give a pragmatic take on the matter. I hate people that spout utter nonsense and don’t have the balls to back it up with conviction & proof. And when they do explain it, they seem oblivious to the world we live in & can’t draw anything from our reality to help facilitate an understanding to what the show is about.

Nat

But him having the scarf *because* he knows the story doesn’t make any sense

Nat

I’m so stoked for them to watch that

Glad to share this experience with you.

I genuinely don’t think there’s a better character arc than Rainer. From background, to villain, to empathetic and finally to hero. You understand every part of him and why he changes. Truly outstanding.
