Wails

"Haa......haa......haa......shitt!"

A few kilometres away from the inn, Hazen was running pantingly. As soon as he recovered consciousness a few hours ago, he came all the way over here with all his strength. Despite vaguely, having a feeling that everything is too late, he has no other choice he can choose either. He was simply, painfully moving his body that had barely any magic power or stamina remaining, without thinking about anything now.

And then.

From afar, in the direction he was facing, a small silhouette was visible.

Before long, it gradually gets closer.

......a white-haired......tall man......while carrying a human-like object......in both hands......

"Haa......haa......haa......"

Hazen stops running and starts walking. He was sure that all of it was over, but even so, like he was afraid to confront the reality before his eyes......he walked slowly.......slowly....... While making the deluded wish of, 'the person carried by that man just has to be somebody else'

However.

As that blurry silhouette became clearer, he was made to recognise the fact that that was an unfulfillable wish. The fact that the person who was being carried, was the person he couldn't protect, despite devoting everything he had. The fact that it was the person he loved the most in his life.

"Haa......haa......"

He, stops his feet as it is, but Asch is walking over expressionlessly.

"......is Liana......dead?"

"......"

In response to that question.

Asch kept quiet, and slowly, placed her on the ground.

"......she seems to be sleeping"

Dropping to the ground on his knees, in a dazed state, Hazen mutters. Her expression is, relaxed......comfortable......as though she's listening to a lullaby or something......even now.....it's like you can hear her breathing in her sleep......

Before long, rain falls from the skies, dampening Liana's cheek. With quivering hands, Hazen wipes it. At her body temperature's coldness......and then......at she who doesn't change her expression as expected.

"......ku......uuuuuuuuuu......uuuuuuuu"

Hazen's sobs, reverberate softly.

"......"

"Uuuuu......I said......I would, rather let you die......if you are going to become a monster......I said I would rather let you die......."

"......"

"But......now......I think if only you were alive......even as a monster......I think......why didn't I......let you drink that medicine......I......I.......uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu"

"......"

Asch, stood up as is, passed right by the bawling Hazen, and started walking. From his expression, you can't feel, any emotions.

"......I, won't forgive myself. And......you'll......"

Without, hearing those words until the end, Asch walked off as is.

In the empty forest. In the god-knows-where grasslands. In the aimless wilderness. Asch continued walking. Without consuming food, without sleeping, without stopping, day after day......

However, he didn't die.

No matter how much he didn't eat.

No matter how much he didn't drink.

His body, simply, continued keeping him alive.

Before long, when he was walking while dragging his feet, he tripped over a rock. It was quite a vigorous tumble, and from his pocket, a single letter. The letter from Liana fell to the ground.

"......"

Asch, neatly and slowly, opened that writing paper.

It was, written in the ancient Zelrolf language.

Let us look up into the sun, Orchestrate a song about the land's harvest, Vary the seasons may, Everybody's hearts, Yead as they age they may, Oh let us celebrate our reunion at Irvam, Under the blue sky, Taking on death in the face, Of all the while feeling the warmth of your hand, Observing your lapis lazuli tears

"......"

"......u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛uu......u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛......u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛uu u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛......u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛ uu u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛u゛"

His wails, echo in the wilderness, endlessly.
