Shan: "Come on. Teal'C wouldn't do that, he's smarter than that" Ya... tv show gotta tv show. Usually the writers are better than this on this show...but I guess no one's perfect. I still really liked this episode and we haven't really gotten a Jonas somewhat-focused episode yet.

Oh... and the reason the ending was different was because General Hammond did get his message through and it caused that traitor to sound the alarm which warned O'Neill before they entered the code and to get ready!

Retro Tom

I believe the difference comes from Hammond sending the warning. That wasn't meant to happen if Jonas didn't get the vision so that one guy that heard Hammond's warning called the alarm which blew the cover on Mot's ambush so it failed & the outcome was changed

Patrick - Excelsior

What they said above. The SGC did help. O'Neill asked Hammond for 2 more teams to go back and I assume take out the rest of the rest of Mott's Jaffa.

In addition to the possible explanations, keep in mind what Carter said. He's only seeing PROBABLY futures, not the actual future. What he sees happens almost all of the time, but there are going to be times when it doesn't.

2023-02-19 15:58:47 I like that they addressed the science of predicting the future because science does have something to say about it. Sam is right, according to quantum mechanics, predicting the future is not possible. It is however theoretically possible to come up with probabilities of potential futures. Which is what Jonas' visions were. Evidenced by the fact that one of his visions did not come true.

2023-02-19 15:58:47 It's interesting that Jonas was given the power to see the future, or more accurately, potential futures because Jonas' very first scene in season 6 was him studying while also watching the weather channel. When Sam walks in and questions him about it, he says the weather channel is fascinating because it's like "predicting the future". Similar to how Jonas' visions worked, science can only tell us the probabilities of the weather on a particular day. It is obviously not guaranteed. Jonas' fascination with the weather channel is also noted later on in another episode. Coincidence or intentional?
