I didn't like how they used mr mxyzptlk he was just there to explain the season story I guess but really Totems named after the paragons fine let see where this goes Like I said the arrow situation because it's a superhero show everyone in the main cast will get superpowers or skills which I hate Alex should had stay as a agent and Lena should had stay as a scientist like they could still help from time to time I'm mad at the writers what was so hard for John to use his powers he could shapeshift into mxyzptlk also you look into his memories to trix her But no let's make this harder than it's has to be we can't have the Martian Manhunter figured out all our problems because were the writers not smart ones apparently The cat going after the laser beam like it's a laser pointer was funny at least I will give the episode credit for making me laugh

I very much agree with your annoyance about everyone getting powers, like you said, when everyone is special nobody is. I think they want to give Kelly a reason to be more part of the group, but I think she would be better suited out of the field. I mean, we know she’s smart and on top of that she’s a psychologist, so she could be a recourse for everyone. I mean, I do like that she’s carrying Jame’s legacy in National City in a way, but I was never really on board with him as guardian either. The difference with Lena is I believe her getting magic is supposed to be a call back to her iconic role as Morgana on Merlin (Katie said this in interview I think), the writers wanted to give something to the fans something since that character was so beloved. In terms of the actual show I think it was also supposed to be something to connect her to her mother in a way? Even with magic I think Lena will always be a scientist first in the long run. One more thing about the Irish accents everyone in Lena’s birthplace has, I don’t know if you noticed but as she was driving in there was a sign that said “Newfoundland” on it, which is a province in Canada with Irish origins. Yes, I’m sure the writers chose that province specifically because Katie is Irish, but Lena did mention in season 3 that she was born in Canada or her mother was from there.
