The studio used in the episodes was Bridge Studios where SG-1 was shot. A lot of the crew did cameos as the Wormhole X-Treme crew. For the whole "As a matter of fact it does say Colonel on my uniform" line, that's a play off the season 1 episode The Fifth Commandment when no one was following Jack's orders & he said "Does it say Colonel anywhere on my uniform?"

First let me say Shan...uh, I mean Teal'c. I love it. Well done. The head piece, the camo uniform, (very funny how you were embarrassed when Jack was making fun of the ones on show). BTW Jack was making fun of the big "X" on their uniform "Don't want a big target on you". So yours was fine. So let me just say.... Jaffa Kree! I love this episode. The Meta episode long before Supernatural did it. It gave the show a chance to make fun of itself. Many of the issues in “Wormhole Extreme” came up in episodes of SG1. For example; the red painted kiwis, the Air Force General guest spotting on show, aliens speaking English, etc. The "behind the scenes" part was entirely improvised. The reason Sam and Daniel thought the name Steve Austin suspicious is that Steve Austin is a name from a TV show called The Six Million Dollar Man. It’s about a astronaut that gets turned into cyborg spy. Yes, the 2 guys at the end talking about how to end the episode are Michael Greenburg (executive producer) and Brad Wright (executive producer and co-director).

I hated this episode back when it first aired. Nice to get some pleasure from seeing it through your eyes. The whole "three shots disintegrates to body" dialog was to make fun of the one time they said that to solve a plot problem and it was seen as so stupid they never mentioned it again.

I liked when Dr. Levant was being crushed by Styrofoam rocks. I think it probably references the season 2 ep Need when Daniel died after being crushed by rocks. This is a fun episode, Stargate can do wacky pretty well.

I have to admit that I found the episode just okay. The beginning was good and the ending was great but the middle dragged a bit. There were some very funny comments and references but I didn't find the actual plot that interesting.

You would have no way of knowing this, but the guy doing the voiceover in the Wormhole Xtreme ad shown at the beginning of the episode, and the stay tuned bit at the end was the same guy that did the real ads and anouncements for Stargate SG-1, and does them exactly the same style he did for the real ones. The director of Wormhole Xtreme is Peter DeLuise and the O'Neil clone is Michael DeLuise. Peter is one of the producers, writers, and directors of SG-1, so he's basically playing himself here. Michael is his brother and both are sons of Dom DeLuise, who starred as the silly brain implant person Urgo in an earlier episode. We discussed then how involved the entire family was with the show. Steven Austin, the fake name used by one of the guys following Martin, is the name of the main character of the tv show, The Six Million Dollar Man, as well as also the name of a professional wressler. So it could be a real name, but also is an obvious one to use as a fake and also a nod at a classic TV show. The "Don't worry it's on cable" joke was both poking fun at themselves, because SG-1 was only on cable, and also a reference to the fact that cable shows got more less viewership at the time. Hyper popular cable shows like The Sopranos and Game of Thrones weren't a thing at the time. A popular cable show would have a small fraction of the viewership of a popular free to air show. So he was saying that no one's probably going to see it anyway.

2023-01-15 19:45:47 First of all ..cough.. CURLIES!!!!! <3 Ok.. Now that I got that out of the way.. Let's proceed 1. You: "Look I tried face paint...." ...Lemme just add to that.. You meant face paint for the Teal'c symbol ....You didn't mean painting any place else of your face 2. You: "I can't believe we're at 500" (then you correct yourself) Yeaaaahh.. Even with all of the Gateverse episodes combined (SG-1, Atlantis and Universe) We're about a 146 episodes shy of reaching the 500 goal ...Maybe if we get that spin-off going at some point though 3. Soooo... 5x12 initially had a "Previously on" ...I went ahead and cut it from the episode as it already gave away that Martin (Willie Garson) was gonna be in this episode.... I figured I had to redo the episode anyways as I had to put in the intro so might as well put in the extra effort to keep you safe from spoilers just a liiiiiittle while longer until he was mentioned in the episode itself 4. The quick SG-1 intro ...Again.. Suggestion by a subscriber.. It's teeeeechnically a spoiler.. But I'm not gonna say WHY or WHEN it comes up.. You will see it again at some point 5. Sooooo... According to writer Joseph Mallozzi... (the guy asking Teal'c where the donuts are) In one of the early drafts of the script.. When Grell The Robot was introduced.. The scene in the SGC would have the camera panning over to Teal'c laughing his ass off with the rest of the team looking over really confused... Sadly that didn't make the cut 6. As you've seen 5x12 had a LOT of little things poking fun at Stargate SG-1 and scifi in general... Another thing to add is the whole "Plausible deniability" ..Total shot at the whole Stargate conspiracy that the show is a way to cover up a real stargate program ...Brilliant idea from the writers?? Or is there more going on???????? 😉 7. There's a fine line when it comes to meta ....Legends overdoes it where it breaks the fourth wall too much... Supernatural did it perfectly where it made fun of itself.. And I think 5x12 which pre-dated the Supernatural episode definitely was more along the lines of Supernatural than it was Legends 8. From what I heard... The shot of Colonel Danning complaining about all the dead bodies is kind of a parody on the episode "The Fifth Man" where O'neill helps the alien called Tyler and takes out a fuckton of Jaffa ....In the original draft O'neill was knees deep in Jaffa bodies.. But it would've been too constricting to have all that going on while filming with all those extras on the ground.. So they changed things around and this scene is a joke in reference to that 9. If you pause your recording @25.43 you see a Death Glider prop in the background ...@26.23 you can see the puppet they use for The Asgard ....Little easter eggs are thrown in everywhere.. Blink and you'll miss them 10. The exterior shots of the studio that Wormhole X-treme! is being filmed at... It's Bridge Studios in Burnaby, Vancouver B.C. ..The place where they used to film all of Stargate 11. Grell the robot was glistening cause... Well... He's a robot made of metal.. Makes sense 12. The TV show executives talking about the show needing a "sexy alien" was a dig at Anise ...Y'know.. They were MOST DECIDEDLY making fun of the fact that Teal'c doesn't get to speak often 16.
