I've been doing some thinking about how I want to represent the Commander in-game, and I'm a bit conflicted so I wanted to get some opinions here. One the one hand, I'd like for the Commander to be as open as possible for interpretation if people want to self-insert or imagine them as their own character. On the other hand, that requires them to never appear on-screen, and there are some parts of the game that may be better if I can show them. Out of the following, what would you prefer?

(Note: This won't decide anything, it's just an interest check.)

If fully designed the uniform should be just as skimpy as the vessels I think that would be kinda cool

DiceBagSys

Fully designed character, but with a few palette swaps, a la Pokemon. Various skin tones and hair colors, but nothing in-depth, no like, FULL customization!

Miwwa

Would it be a full design for both genders or just for one? If it would be for both it would be neat to do that, maybe even some commander customization like something like GFL1 would be cool 👉 👈

MeshiSoftworks

I'll think about customization, too! I haven't play GFL, but how much customization I can add really depends on how many times the commander will show up, since it could potentially add a lot of work

MeshiSoftworks

I'm not sure if I would go full skimpy for the female MC, but it would probably be about in line with other gachas

Peach

Or like Path to Nowhere The same male director and female director

V-Ate

Light customization like GFL1 would be my vote if it were an option. Alternatively, the "fully obscuring uniform" could have some customization? Depending on how much they're shown, but it could be neat.

PizzaKat

As long as it's drippy

HorrorSanek

Havind an faceless preson as main character (like from Arknight) suits the game really well, making a mistery around them is a wonderful idea!

Some Random Person

Would the commander be relatively close when a fight happens or is it kinda like the commander is observing from behind a screen?

PAVAGA

honestly, as long as they're pleasing to look at.

Cres

im not sure what part you'd be showing them. i think like how gfl does it would be good. where essentially its androgynous

Robert Walker

Id leave it as open as possible honestly, may well save on dev time too!

Virgile Lefranc

Can I be annoying and ask for a very curvy female version and a quite beaffy one for the guy? For the apeal of eating them of cours. " For the lore!" XD

Lackey2

Would be pretty interesting to have a chess-type situation where you have to prevent the Commander's digestion while a battle's still going... I just never thought it was actually a possibility.

dessi.coutorie@gmail.com

Idk if im a little late, but i do my own art and id like to insert my own characters in the commander spot

Andy Dennis

Either 'Commander never appears on screen' or 'fully designed character.' The latter I would prefer only if it accompanied actual characterization. Alternatively, perhaps a faceless uniform designed in such a way as to obscure their appearance entirely? If the Commander doesn't need to be on the battlefield, symbolic representation?

Malakai Culotta

I voted for a fully designed character, but obscured face is a close second, so I'm fine with it winning. Having the commander get digested in the secretary segments is super fun, but I'd love to see them in some more *visible* peril.

Michiru Kururugi

I like the idea of a generic type character with customization options, but I fully understand if something like that would be very hard/time consuming to create and implement. Otherwise I like the faceless idea best among the listed options

MeshiSoftworks

I saw a lot of people asking when the commander would be shown, so at the moment they would likely just appear in CGs, but it would open up other options such as them appearing as a unit that must be protected in battle, too.
