Another Patreon preview, and another test of the new filming setup.

I like this little light.  I wonder if it was created as a way to use up offcuts of a standard aluminiumextrusion.  Either way it has a novel and versatile connector and the heatsinking of the LED means they are run well within their design parameters.  It should hopefully last a long time.

Thoughts on the use of the Moto G4 for filming are welcomed.  I'm still not quite convinced about the audio, since it seems that the phone is not putting the full audio range onto the video file for volume.  I can't find any way to adjust that without external processing which defeats the point of having an all-in-one record and upload device in my pocket.

I might test my brother Ralfy's Wileyfox phone to see how it compares.

USB LED light with nice design and interesting connector.

Apart from the very good heatsinking of the LEDs on this light, there is a very unusual feature in that the metal bodied USB plug can go in either way round. I'm still pondering if I'll continue using this phone as my main camera. Comments welcomed.

I really like the new camera, even in 720p it's much clearer. I didn't mind the triggered autofocus at all as it was very precise, and I also don't mind the colder image, it looks like the new WB is closer to reality. As for the sound, I actually also find it much better than usual. It's quieter, meaning there is little compression and you're getting a good dynamic range... perfect for future explosions! If you find it too quiet, there might be an eq/compressor setting somewhere in the phone, might be worth checking out.

Great video has any ideas for the leds and board I sent you Clive and what you Think about the multimeter

I have not experienced any audio issues with your new camera setup. I usually watch your videos on my iPhone 6s which has a fairly crappy-sounding speaker, and I think your videos sound fine on it. Of course, they sound even better on my Bluetooth speaker. - but no complaints either way.

I find the image brightness just about perfect and the sound also seems pretty good to me.

This new recording set up seems pretty good to me too, the audio is clear and has a nice depth and the video is very good, I always watch using headphones so the volume is spot on for me.

Video looks and sounds good. Just wondering what to look for in the listings for that light. Thanks

That's reassuring to know. Now I just have to rearrange the lighting to avoid the major intensity variation.

Video and sound seem good to me. You can definitely tell the jump in video quality from the iPad but I've noticed no drop in sound quality. If anything to me, it sounds richer than it did before.

Bit of an odd set of keywords. I'll add this link to the video description. <a href="http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&amp;_sacat=0&amp;LH_BIN=1&amp;_nkw=Warm+White+Mobile+Power+5V+Highlight+USB+Lamp+8+Beads&amp;_sop=15" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&amp;_sacat=0&amp;LH_BIN=1&amp;_nkw=Warm+White+Mobile+Power+5V+Highlight+USB+Lamp+8+Beads&amp;_sop=15</a>

I did notice on the motos' premier that the sound was slightly soft but it didn't bother me, I liked the IPad. Just to add my two cents. Think people are drawn to your channel as you have a natural way to explain stuff, and make seemingly inane stuff soo damn interesting.

Phone Camera - Manual exposure looks spot on. Lighting seems more even now. I can't see a major intensity variation. Shadows seem less obtrusive, but undoubtedly softer lighting would be better. Your focusing technique is a great way of doing it. White balance seems very slightly on the cool side. Slightly choppy movement when you wave your arms around rapidly. Audio again beautifully clear but rather quiet.

I find the video quality is better now than it was before and the sound quality seems about identical to the iPad's. The intensity seems like a bit of a pain but worthwhile to get it dialed in. I think the difference in the sound is that its using different equalizer settings than the iPad. Depending on your android phone, you might even be able to set the defaults for that. On my acer its a setting under audio between a few presets.

Your poor knuckle! How long has that been bandaged? You might want to try New Skin, which is a paint-on liquid bandage which survives washing. Helped my boo boos heal fast. I see it's available at amazon.co.uk.

Just ordered (what I think was) a couple of these for use as video lights. Thanks for the review!

Video looks fine, but I'm not sold on the audio. It sounds warmer, but has less depth and very sharp esses. I think a de-essing filter would help if that's available on the software. Also I feel like there's a noticeable difference in tone and volume between stuff that happens in front and behind the camera. So to me, your voice sounds different in tone than sounds coming from the bench. Another option might be to use an external mic with the phone to see if that improves it, I think there are 'fixed' 3.5mm mics available for that purpose. But I'm no audio expert, so maybe I just need to get used to the new sound :)

Lapel mic maybe? Perhaps ask TechMoan for tips ;)

bigclive

I'm using a forehead (on a cap) microphone. The lapel position doesn't work because of my long beard. The issue is more with the phone not adding the full range audio track to the videos. I can drive it way beyond the AGC limit and it still sounds quite low.

Neat light (apart from USB). I wonder what the nominal rating is and how much light that puts out. Could it be used to replace e.g. a small desk halogen?
