Yep question on what happens if they survive while someone kicks the bucket question answered.

Tyric Gaias

So, L tried to kill them right?

Retexks

you mentioned Mana and I think you meant Chi

Vincent Mason

Damn. Posts like crazy, but I'm here for it.

Wow the self righteous speech was strong in this one, holy crap this Lee is a head case. Yes everyone is definitely going to immediately defer to the random maybe person that’s claiming to be working for the slave dealing conspiracy that kidnapped them, implanted who know what into their soul, and then sent them into a time loop from hell. Not telling him something immediately or from conversations that don’t include him in no way implys that they are “superior”, nor does not telling him that the obviously unhinged person might be suicidal a “challenge to his leadership”. Man the self righteousness of this Lee is amazingly grating, maybe dieing a few hundred more times might do him some good.

PublicLee Speaking

That's an... interesting take. Perhaps you should give the rest of this one a pass, since it's obviously not to your tastes.

Edits there’s one’s -> there's one that's I can’t both -> I can't be both

While I don't agree with this opinion, I do understand to some degree. To them (well really Mel) this is a ridiculous and horrifying situation that they found themselves in and the one who seems to know the most is asking for trust. We the readers know that Lee is trustworthy but Mel comes from a background of politics so her skillset is not optimal for the situation they are currently in. Which I think it maybe especially hard to to trust in Lee honesty.

Tyric Gaias

I can't help but feel that when L finally believes that what's happening isn't a simulation it's going to really suck for her and everyone else.

PublicLee Speaking

Oh, absolutely, but when you start quoting things that haven't been said, or wishing literal torture upon one of the characters for being kind of a dick in the way they talk, it's likely time to give that story a pass.

Tyric Gaias

True. That's what sucks about that kind of mentality she has; it keeps you/others safe...until it doesn't.

You are not wrong, I am probably reading to much into this one and should take a break or skip it. on the other hand I was using quotes as my phone keyboard doesn’t have italics to emphasize things. Not trying to quote anything that was said/written. From an outside perspective there is absolutely no reason to trust Lee. The characters we have been introduced to all have very good reasons to distrust him actually. First of all the entire situation reaks of either torture or an intellegence gathering mission, repeatedly “dieing” to make them trama bond to the person that’s supposedly helping them all to get at the secrets they know. Kaylee probably thinks that the blue gloves got her and have her in a psychic torture chamber, L rightly distrusts what could probably be an deep neural dive with alien tech, Mel is from a world with literally insane mages that warp reality, and another comes from a world with literal demons. These are obviously wrong conclusions to the readers, but the characters don’t have that meta knowledge nor is the fact that there is a loop going on and what sounds like some crazy guy has all sorts of information he shouldn’t have suddenly spouting out life facts and trying to establish trust in a situation where there has been no time to justify it or to do anything other than endure what to a lot of them seems like simulated death over and over. Then the man that seems to know what’s going on declares himself leader, demands absolute trust and discretion, then goes in an internal/external rant about how everything is all their fault for not confiding in a stanger that calls them all slaves. Meta knowledge renders all this false but none of the characters have that. Either way these are my thoughts on this chapter. Very good writing, and good use of show not tell with the abilities. Looking forward to when you go back to the NWD fic!

Next up on the Kommissioned Kueue is Skyrim, and then Naruto, but I'm going to do two rotations of my main three first.

Honestly, I'm wondering if it's going to break her cultivation somehow. Her's is literally built on the lie that she has alien extrasensory organs. Once that comes to light, she's going to be forced to work through the realization that magic is real and the spiritual exists. Well that, or absolutely nothing happens and she's fine. Can't wait to find out!

SoraWolf7

Interesting chapter. I'm not surprised that Kobeni was the first one to snap (poor girl), but at least the others (besides L) have (hopefully) learned a valuable lesson about communication. Because clearly, this is an all-or-nothing fight.

JohnJohn2195

you know with L disposition on how its all aliens vs it being magic it reminded me of a table top game i watched on youtube where a dude rolled 1 and they played hard into thinking the lich was a normal guy and ghost weren't real. was a fun time. (it was team four star if anyone ask)

That part about acting like before the company came out of nowhere and left like things are going a dark place. But it’s interesting to see what his mental space would be like without the security blanket that is the stamp. As much as your Lee bitches about the mental effects of the stamp he is very reliant (or at least leans into) the enforced loyalty aspect of it. We see it in RWBY and Arcane, but seeing how he reacts without one really drives that point home. On the bright side killing everyone to advance on your own won’t work. And even if used to grow stronger than the team for now and pass on your own when you are much stronger (killing everyone at the start till you are ready to pass) might work at first but given the themes of the cultivation techniques I assume at some point all 5 need to be at a certain level of cultivation to pass.

I'm finding that I'm enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would. Yes all of the characters have some deep trauma and or very valid reasons to distrust Lee; but at the same time I don't see why after they are stuck with each other for a while longer and get more powerful, that actual communication in good faith can't happen. Even L, though I think that she is going to come up to a hard block in her cultivation until she either gets over herself a bit, or accepts the reality of the situation. But that will probably require her to witness something that she can't rationalize away. And honestly, I don't think that I would have as much patience as Lee does myself. Just about everyone meets or has to work with people that that. I find that end up just calling them out on their bullshit and write them off. It would really suck to be in that situation where eventually there going to get into a situation where everyone is probably going to have to trust her. And if she does run into a plateau, everyone is going to have to carry her.
