kai

it’s supposed to feel like that to create suspense every episode

kai

i don’t appreciate being lied to like that

M2GZ

facts its tough for us out here on the patreon for fmab, I just wanna get to the end so bad haha

Wiame

Besides not giving us 116 , Cannon looks hot ! The new haircut suits you damn well

y are you mad

killua knowing about dragon dive doesnt really makes sense but whatever its epic

Kyle

on second watch things feel so slow especially after mostly watching things with new gen pacing. they would adapt .5 maybe 2 chapters of the manga verse 3ish now

Kevin J Saale

No one's going to give you grief over your comments on the pacing. It's a pretty common critique.

Ella Clare

Not sleeping till I get 116 bro I can’t wait

SoClose

Regarding pacing, a big reason why is because this came out WEEKLY. Let me repeat that, yes, WEEKLY. 148 eps, every week. Had like 2 or 3 weeks breaks if I remember right. So yea they had to stretch these into a 24 min ep every week. You think MAPPA slaves their staff, old school MadHouse built different.

Goldy

Lol yes it is people consider this arc and the hunter exams arc to poorly paced and slow in general. They are my personal favorite so I don't agree anyways

YourGuy

Cannon, Pitou's en didn't make netero and zenos scared, it was the fact that the king walked by them with ease that scared them

Pitou

tbh, they should be grateful about the pacing because they're no filler on the way.

Melizé

"He looked down"

Colin Boehling

i fucking love this.. haikyuu is literally going to be so fucking good

Purple Giraffe

Omg did y'all save 116 on purpose???? I don't wanna wait 😞

y are you mad

53:27 very good observation. life experience is so important

IchiGoat

gons has been/is going through the 5 stages of grief after kites deaths. that’s why his character has become so eerie because we don’t know what he’s going to do next and killua can feel it aswell.

Jed

The only bad part about this arc is the narrator yapping instead of the characters themselves talking… My favorite anime but man does it not work here at all

Jimmy Gilligan

There’s videos on YouTube that play the entire attack on the palace in real time and it’s really interesting to watch since it takes up like so many episodes lol

studiogek

Oh the youtube comments have been dishing it like crazy lol, it was moreso tailored to them

Mitch

Morel is really one of the best characters of the series, dude soloed several high level chimera ants, then immediately goes to fight a 1v1 with a Royal guard without rest at 30% power and doesn’t complain one bit. He’s such a G

1999

I agree with you guys on the pacing. This arc definitely drags on but it’s still peak.

Lauryn

Again love that yall upload so much! Still waiting on that fmab upload though😬

Con

SPOILER FREE: If anyone is confused about why Pitou cried after Meruem said that he trusted her to heal Komugi, there are 2 popular theories. The first is that she felt the king's raw emotions through his aura and thus could feel the care that he obviously had for Komugi especially when she got hurt. The other is that this was the first time that she had told Pitou that he counted on her instead of commanding her to do something, which is something that he usually would have done. You can see the noticeable change from the way that Pitou is now compared to when she was first introduced because this is about the first time she had been emotionally compassionate to someone. Also the reason that Killua was questioning what Gon meant by "Let's go" will be explained later in an episode iirc.

spoopyjhope

Pouf is the biggest glazer in the HXH universe gat damn

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

I already commented this on another video, but just in case you haven't read it: something that was omitted from the manga in the scene when Knuckle punches Youpi is that he mentions that Morel is the person with the biggest aura pool he has ever known, and mind you he probably knows Netero. So the fact that Youpi is believed by Knuckle to have TEN TIMES more aura than Morel is insane. .On a side note, it's literally impossible for Morel to be particularly good at enhancement if he is a manipulator simply because both nen types are too far apart, just remember the nen charts. A manipulator could master Emission at about 80% proficiency, while they could only use enhancement at just about 60%.

ssj4rit

SHOOT IS HIM

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

Netero and Zeno weren't shook because of Pitou's aura, they had already encountered it face to face and they could have not care less. They were shook because Meruem was able to move past them without them even being able to react. They literally thought they were gonna die right then and there.

Rosa

I haven't read the Chimera Ant arc in manga format so i dont know if the pacing is better there, but i do know its 130+ chapters long. It is a very long arc and as far as im aware its simply incredibly faithfully adapted and sometimes what works in the manga doesnt translate well into anime format. Togashi just happens to have a writing style that can make it difficult to have both amazing pacing and a faithful adaptation.

Jyle

I personally think this arc was meant to be binged it felt 10x smoother when I watched it that that way but I do understand how it could feel “drawn out” in some aspects.

Jed

“Gon is roaring for a fight”

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

One last thing, there's an error of translation in episode 113. Ikalgo didn't tell Killua "I owe you one", the opposite, he says "YOU owe me one". Ikalgo didn't need saving from those two ants because he was already disguised as one of them. Killua fucked up and they both realized it, he acted on pure instinct instead of taking into account that he not only didn't need to help Ikalgo, but that in doing so he could potentially blow his cover (and he did, as Welfin saw the whole thing). Kudos to Cannon for kinda realizing Killua's mistake.

LK

idk, with everything happening so fast (not to us ofc) in this arc I feel the narrator is needed!

Michael H

I always saw it as her just subconsciously understanding in that moment just how much the king had changed, and she is simply having trouble processing it. She always looked more distressed in that crying shot than proud or compassionate in my opinion.

Michael H

An arc of peaks and valleys. The pacing can be brutal.

Kimmer

You can’t rush peak…

BipolarKitten

I laugh so hard at Morel respond to melodramatic performance by Pouf. "Yo"

Yerr

Saw a comment abt haikyu maybe being on the watchlist….imma just try to save yall with this comment. Its high school volleyball….. some people like sports animes. To each their own, but i think it’ll be the first series yall decide to just not finish. Imagine inner dialogue before a spike….those are the “high stakes” pls save yourselves the trouble on that one and watch something else. Plenty of other amazing options, Than watching multiple seasons of anime volleyball. The haikyuu lovers prob gonna come for me, but thats one of those shows for the weebs lost in the sauce of weebdom, and i dont think u guys will ever be that down bad. And thank god for that.

Yerr

Loving this series tho, glad to see yall are enjoying one of the greats.

Sasha

Touch my, touch my. Mckay wilding.

Nazerke K

It was the first time the King counted on somebody, and when Pitou cried, Netero and Zeno were shocked by the King’s aura and actions… everything was breathtaking🫶🏼

alexis ♡︎

in the outro carter was saying that gon is so interesting AND IM SO HAPPY. i don’t remember when but i think carter said he didn’t really care about him that much bc his character was kind of flat and while i might’ve agreed with that at the time THIS, THIS IS WHAT I WAS WAITING FOR 🥹 this arc does sooo much for so many characters and it colors the rest of the story so well!!

psychotaco343

u should be annoyed its a good ass show and its dumb when they pace it like shit, they do this we naruto too much as well. Too much chit chat

Nonos

Micheal I see the crying more as her being so happy because it’s the first time Meruem said “I’m counting on you” showing his true feelings of being desperate to heal komugi. And the show has been showing how pitou cares more about meruem’s actual feelings as opposed to pouf who cares more about meruem acting like what he thinks a “king” is. But that’s still an interesting way to look at it aswell, i actually am really a fan of pitou’s character throughout the arc so i like to talk about those small details lol

Kyosuke Kagami

all the discussion and debate among the guys about pacing, drawn out exposition, etc... and then the episode begins with Youpi yawning lmfao

Shiro

Episode 112 is one of my favourite episodes for the masterful story-writing by Togashi. To understand 112 fully, one has to revisit episode 108. In that episode, the King asks his royal guards about his name. Their responses reveal their respective nature and their attitude towards their king. Being Chimera ants, they are undoubtedly loyal to their king. However, their sense of loyalty is different. Pouf highly idealizes Meruem, for him he is the ideal king, and everything he does is to maintain that ideal image and destiny of his king (he didn't kill Komugi not because he feared for the consequences from the king, but because he did not want the king to have the reputation of never beating Komugi). Pitou, on the other hand represents a deep sense of loyalty to the king as an individual, as is encapsulated in her reply - choose a name you like. For her, her king's feelings are more important. As for Youpi, his loyalty is that of a servant, he will question nothing and do as he is directed. This becomes clear in 112 - while Pitou is slapped by Netero, her presence of mind keeps her in the fight. Now, out of all the three royal guards, Pouf is the fastest and would have been the first royal guard to reach Meruem. But as he himself admits, instead of going to where Meruem actually is (Komugi's room - guesthouse), he goes to the throne room where he expects Meruem ought to be. His unwillingness to accept the truth forces him to misjudge the situation, as a result, he cannot reach the King in time, and thus, his lamentation as being a failure of a royal guard. Unfortunately for him, he cannot indulge in self-hatred for long as Morel is there to trap him. Youpi would have been the royal guard in the closest proximity to Meruem under ordinary circumstances. However, spending time with Komugi has changed the king and this change causes Meruem to be irritated by constantly being monitored, as a result Youpi is posted on the central staircase, posing a huge problem for the infiltration hunter team. When he sees them emerge, he does what is his nature, become his king's shield and not think about anything else. Had he been near the king, he would have had to fight Netero and Zeno instead of Shoot and Knuckle. And lastly Pitou, the one royal guard who understands the individual that is the king the most. It is fitting that she is the one who reaches Meruem first, and she is the only one whom Meruem can count on healing Komugi. Her tears represent her being overwhelmed by so many emotions - her failure to protect the King and Komugi (he asked her to protect/monitor Komugi as well in episode 110), feeling the king's loss and vulnerability from his aura (something they both experienced for the first time), feeling the weight of responsibility of having to heal Komugi, and simply realizing how much Komugi means to the king. The royal guards are strictly bound to protect the king, even at the expense of other royal guards. Assigning a royal guard to guard/heal/protect Komugi means the king values her as much as he values his own life. It is so interesting to see the inherent nature of royal guards reflected in their actions during a crisis.

Shiro

They cannot be more opposite than each other. One a delicate butterfly and the other built like an ox!!

Shiro

Yes, this! They were not shook but distracted when Pitou activated Dr. Blythe as is natural. They turned around to look and that is when Meruem walked with ease right between them. Quick swipe of his tail and their heads would have rolled right there. It shows such character development for Meruem as earlier he would not have hesitated to attack his enemy. But now, since they showed restraint and honour, he reciprocated by not beheading them when he had the chance!

Shiro

Having read the manga, I can say that he does obsess over every little detail which sometimes may not be necessary! That may affect the pacing a bit!

Shiro

On another note, was Killua recognizing Zeno's Dragon Dive a writing error? When Killua left his house, he did not know Nen. He learnt Nen with Gon under Wing in Heaven's arena, after which he has not been home ever since learning Nen. How would he know about his Grandpa's abilities?

Shiro

Hey @Gabriel, since in Japanese the subject is not clearly defined, what Ikalgo is saying is essentially that a favour is owed, by whom to who is not clear. I take it to mean as it is translated - 'I owe you one'. I see it like this, Killua instinctively kills the soldier ants, and only after he has done that he realizes his mistake as he is passing Ikalgo in the corridor. Perhaps Killua feels a sense of duty in protecting Ikalgo since Ikalgo saved his life. However, as you pointed out, as Killua is realizing his mistake (killing them was not necessary since Ikalgo was in disguise), Ikalgo says that he owes Killua one, as a way to make Killua feel less guilty of his actions and also to express his gratitude (since Killua forbade him from saying thank you as friends don't thank each other over every little thing!). Incidentally, Killua's decision was correct, as the soldier ants had already alerted Brovada and Cheetu when they saw Gon and Killua. Since Ikalgo already messes up by using Leol's old name - Hagya - perhaps he has 2 fewer enemies to deal now thanks to Killua!

Josh

Yeah people saying Carter just wants to see fights has absolutely no idea who he is lol. I think maybe he felt that there weren't enough story beats in the build up. In fact, some of the seemingly inconsequential fights during the build up was probably a big contributor to him not enjoying it as much.

hknguyen

Brilliant story-writing from Togashi sensei and character analysis from Shiro! Thank you so much for putting all this together so well. Episode 108 and 112 are also two of my favorite episodes, and I was sad that episode 108 wasn’t talked much in the previous reaction. Your comments make me so happy!

Emmanuel

The scene in which Meruem says to Pitou "Heal Komugi. I'm counting on you." has some extra meaning lost in translation. Meruem doesn't issue a literal command as he usually does, given that he has unquestionable authority over the royal guard, he uses as an urgent modification of the word "tanomu" which means to request/ask/beg. He put aside his authority and and made the plea in earnest. Pitou was also responsible for safe-guarding Komugi from something like this, fully expecting to lose their life as punishment. Suffering no consequence AND on top of that being spoken to in the way Meruem did in that moment was what moved them to tears.

Emmanuel

To answer your guys' question in the discussion about Morel's Nen affinity. He's a manipulator but uses multiple categories in his technique Deep Purple. His condition is that he must use his pipe as a catalyst, he sucks in air and reinforces it with aura. The "smoke" is simply normal air that has been saturated with his aura and is then manipulated. He uses basic transmutation to modulate the color and texture of his aura which is how he's been able to produce smoke clones and other "real" looking objects. And of course emission plays a role in sustaining these effects independent of him at long distances. Several techniques in the show actually use more than one category of Nen, just about every instance you see of non-corporeal objects or entities with shapes and colors are utilizing very basic transmutation. APR for instance. Knuckle had to cook up "what do I want this little guy to look like" and mold his aura accordingly when encoding it into the creation his technique.

Asbjørn Kennedy

Absolutely, I tilted so hard because of the pacing on my first watch. HxH doesnt have the greatest pacing in the first place, and this arc has probably some of the worst of it. But hey, at least the payoff is good. But yes, the real tragedy is for the FMA enjoyers 😭

M2GZ

The fact that your only criticism of the show is “it’s volleyball” is incredibly dumb and just a weak argument. In term of pacing action and characters haikyuu got this show beat by a long shot. Perhaps in a few years when you mature a bit and are capable of appreciating character writing instead of not like it because “UrGH voLleYbaLl b0rIng” can’t wait till they start the show and absolutely love it.😂

Yerr

I knew yall were gonna come out the woodwork at some point, lets begin, shall we? My cousin played volleyball, for the majority of her schooling years, high school/college. I absolutely love the sport and find it extremely entertaining and fast paced and requires a ton of athleticism and technique. I also love the cohesiveness of the teams. Rallying around each other after almost every point. Something you dont see to quite that level in other sports. Also, I am an adult and can appreciate good character development, and writing. However, and maybe this is because I watched a ton of the sport in real life, seeing characters monologue as the ball comes floating through the air for 5 min, then all its leading up to is a spike or a diving save. Is just so god damn slow for me compared to the real excitement of real life volleyball. While the peak of the “drama” in the show revolves around high school dudes throwing broody looks at each other promising to beat one another in tournaments. I can get behind the first two points if the broody looks and 5 min monologues are caused by ever evolving ants that threaten the entire human race, or massive humanoid titans that are terrorizing humanity, (just two examples) bc the stakes are higher and the problem is greater. And sorry but i just dont see this specific group of dudes especially previous anime haters to sit there like a group of female high school cheerleaders and get hyped to watch anime characters gear up for a serve. Overall im just saying the drama and character development can be good, and im sure it is. Bc its a popular show, but when u take ur weeb cap off and look at it objectively the whole thing boils down to some dudes playing volleyball on a court, in an anime….id just rather watch real volleyball and see real drama unfold between real athletes. I cant watch somebody turn into a colossal titan in real life. Or watch a broadcast of real life humans taking down chimera ants. Super powers also dont exist, so seeing those things play out on screen is awesome. Seeing some high school dudes beef over whose gonna beat who in a volleyball tournament is just not that interesting tbh and in my opinion the stakes are nonexistent. Also, notice how i didnt insult u personally once with my entire argument. I simply discussed the show. Theres a way to disagree with people without insulting them. I recommend you give it a try.

Isaac Godoy

“I love how they added all the lines and dashes to Gon’s eyes” lol even tho I see that you’ve seen 116 I gotta still say it, oh you ain’t seen lines and dashes yet lol

Izaya

funny you mention Vinland cause i feel yall were pretty impatient in the farm arc too lol. though i know you like the show a lot. i think thats the price of having AOT as your first anime ever. You set a standard ideal and immediately compre everything to it. Its inevitable. Thats why i never recommend AOT for anime first timers

Izaya

come on Brigg is jsut spoiling shit on purpose now lol. Its even past backseating its straight plain spoilers... but im sorry. im sorry for pointing it out

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

Yeah, like how would he even know? He didn't even know about the existence of nen before leaving his home, and he hadn't encountered his grandpa since then.

M2GZ

I’ll never forget them not getting spoiled for the entirety of s2 of jjk then on the last moments of the last episode he spoils fake getos name and even says oh yah I got his name spoiled, it’s not a huge deal at all rlly but I was like bruh…. You couldn’t keep that to yourself.

Shiro

Thanks @hknguyen, glad to be appreciated! I, too, was disappointed about the lack of discussion for episode 108. There are just too many layers to this story and the characters. Each time I learn something new:)

Maximum Homerdrive

I don't think God's accomplice would be extended with an oxygen tank. He's holding his breath; so no exhaling or inhaling by nose & mouth. I could be wrong though

r.s.

I completely agree with yerr. A lot of people hype up haikyu so much but imo it is very overrated. I don't even think sports anime would be for the geks but even If it is I don't think haikyu is a good place to start.

Wiame

so Hagya sama is Leol , the Lion that fought Morel in the church . they suspected Flutter after saying Hagya because he hated that name and changed it , they all knew that and Ikalgo didn't . that's why they suspected him

Brittany Mitchell

Yea guys the pacing in the early part of this arc is too slow in my opinion as well. Too much time in the 'buildup stage' is spent fighting random henchmen, and with unnecessary plot points and it could definitely have been reduced, so I fully agree with you! However, the payoff and conclusion of the arc is peak enough to negate all of those pacing issues looking back, which is quite a feat.

McKay Carter

Yeah it’s a slippery slope starting with AOT but these guys would never have latched on to anime the way they have without it.

Kale

Idk man you don’t find out his name until like mid to late S3 😭 and it’s hard to refer to someone if you don’t know their name especially when you know for a fact it’s not the person you thought it was the whole show (geto) and it’s even harder if you already know the name and have to talk about him lmao

Emmanuel

Forreal, people remember the peaks of CA arc because they are PEAK but forget some of the borderline generic filler content that led up to it. Yes the first half of the arc contains absolutely essential slow-burn set ups to those peaks but it still wasn't perfect.

Rosa

I've only read what comes after the anime and I know the series can get a bit text-heavy sometimes. That would definitely affect the pacing in the anime. Personally I do like Togashi's writing style but I know everyone doesn't.

ssj4rit

This is a common thing brought up. I think it just depends if Dragon Dive is visible to non Nen users. It’s possibly Zeno showed Killua or told him about the technique long ago, and that’s why he recognized it. Raining golden arrows from the sky is probably not a common technique after all, even in the assassin business. Even if Killua didn’t know Nen, he could still know his grandpa has such a technique at his disposal. But I admit it’s a hazy plot point.

M2GZ

mean no hate at all yall still the goats, that was just my most facepalm moment for me because just how many comments I seen spoiling his name get taken down in the comments just for it to be said in the last two minutes of the last reaction. I was just like well damn... lol so close, also some anime only's might watch the reactions and not want anything spoiled even if its just a name reveal. Things like that happen though no hate at all though you still the goat Brig.

Shiro

Same here! I, too, started reading from the where the anime left off, and it is indeed so text-heavy. I mean, even the Nen conditions become so complex for tertiary characters that it is hard to keep up in the subsequent arcs!!

Shiro

Yeah, it is a bit hazy! But it is one of the very minor complaints in this awesome story! I was just wondering if it was perhaps explained in the manga. Nevertheless, I don’t think it takes away the beauty of this arc at all!

Josh

I’ve seen the anime 4 times now and I’ve come to appreciate almost all aspects of it, things I didn’t like that much on my first, and even second watch. There are a few things that still haven’t grown on me: - Pike - fish siblings who fought Killua with the darts - pre-invasion palm - the preview at the end of 135 that creates a ton of tonal whiplash, because it’s got that happy-go-lucky Hunter exam ost lol. I really need Brig to pause it right before that. I’ve grown to appreciate things like Shaiapouf and the time spent characterising the squadron leaders, even if maybe a bit dragged out. One of the core philosophies of HxH is to enjoy the detour and the journey, and when you’re watching with that mindset it becomes a lot of more enjoyable imo. If you’re anticipating story beats and climaxes, you might get frustrated

Mitch

To be fair fake Getos real name is the most insignificant spoiler ever and will have zero impact on their future enjoyment of the show

MissJodles

Totally agree, I think I made a comment on one of those older episodes for Carter to wait for the character development to cook and it’s finally happening 🙏

sil

i just love the king's VA soooo much and it reminds me of haikyuu and i cant wait for them to watch haikyuu and hopefully realize that the king's VA is in there

M2GZ

It’s still inconsiderate to people who have been deleting even minor spoilers from comments and anime only’s who don’t wanna know, even if it does seem insignificant.

Anonymous

welfin's arc may seem a little out of place in the beggining but at the end it makes so much sense and makes him a great character imo

april 🍏

For the King ✊😔

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

Dude literally had a straight 1v1 against possibly the physically strongest character in hxh's universe, and even managed to land a clean hit while also making him momentarily retreat, while also tanking hits (not clean ones, granted, but still) and managing to survive the ordeal. Dude is a SAVAGE.

ssj4rit

On one side, it’s cool to see an anime where even the fodder can think for themselves and make an impact (vs most shounen it’s just the main characters driving everything and side characters are garbage). On the other, Togashi wrote 2 full pages on some mafia goon debating what color paper to use when asking for the Troupe’s autograph.

Rosa

Yeah thats Togashi alright. Some scenes may not need to be as long as they are but idk to me it makes the story feel more alive and I respect Togashi for writing this story the way he prefers it.

ssj4rit

An oxygen tank on Meleoron wouldn’t work. Nen is tied to restrictions, you can get more power by limiting yourself. Meleoron’s restrictions help to offset the gains of his power, if he removed the restrictions then either his ability wouldn’t work or wouldn’t be as strong.

Keiji

Knuckle is a conjurer I think.

Shiro

@ssj4rit Haha, that is Togashi all right! This world is such that we as readers are thinking perhaps even the colour of the paper may have some significance or condition due to Nen!! But what you wrote was funny, thanks for getting a chuckle out of me! 😂

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

Exactly. The moment he exhales, the ability comes undone. Maybe an oxygen tank would help in that he could potentially hold his breath for longer as he is inhaling more concentrated oxygen than he would otherwise, but that would probably only give him some extra seconds at the cost of less mobility and added weight.

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

What's more, almost every ability, if not all of them except enchancer techniques, uses multiple nen types by default. Said abilities are gonna have their weaknesses and strenghts according to the user's nen type, but the exact same technique could've been maybe created by another nen user with a totally different nen type. This is why is many times is even more effective to guess the nen type of a user based on their personality rather than by their hatsu.

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

Even without knowing the translation thing you just mentioned (great piece of info btw), I always figured it was more of a request than simply a command because because of the "I'm counting on you". I felt that it was just an order, he would've simply delivered it without adding anything else. The "I'm counting on you" almost feels like he is giving her reassurance that she can do it. . Also, your last point isn't talked about enough. Meruem loved Komugi, yet didn't seem to hold any grudge not only towards Pitou for failing to guard her, but towards the two men that hurt her in the first place. That shows how much Meruem had already grown by then.

Emmanuel

Knuckle is an emitter. APR isn't a conjured object (made of aura and non corporeal, invisible to non nen-users). The effects of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy are also very much in the domain of manipulation. He made the most of his affinity for keeping the effect long distance and sustained, and the next closest category (manipulation) for it's actual mechanics.

Keiji

What you said makes sense but hunterpedia classifies him as a conjurer.

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

We know non Nen users can't see Nen at all under, and considering Killua didn't even know about the existance of it, that implies that the very concept was hidden to him by his family. It simply wouldn't make sense for him to know about Dragon Dive and Dragon Head keeping that in mind.

Gabriel Machuca Wegermann

Emmanuel, Knuckle is (relatively recently) confirmed to be a Conjurer by Togashi, and I don't see how APR wouldn't be a conjured object.

LK

You guys might’ve answered this already but are you watching this on Netflix by any chance?

Elisa Kallai

In all honesty, I love HxH, but in this specific arc, I feel like the narrator is talking way too much, it’s beginning to annoy me. He’s always saying the same type of stuff too; always saying 'oh but the characters didn’t expect that in that moment, something something had happened'. Like just let the scene play out from time to time, no need to narrate absolutely everything. Felt like this could’ve been done in another way. Had to take a small break while watching cause I couldn’t handle all the yapping lol

Junkie Junk

I wish there was more material during that time for them to really flesh out this arc, but you can clearly see the anime dragging things out to make the source material last as long as they could. Plus, Togashi's health was really deteriorating at that point when he was doing this arc. I love HxH ever since I watched the 1999 version when I was a kid but I can admit that this arc has lots of flaws and the constant narration takes away from the overall show. Binging it makes it even more apparent.

Jordan Mowrer

Wild take narrator is the goat
