On the season 14 premiere of We Hate Movies, VHS Trailer Game champion, Eric Szyszka demands the guys go back and re-do an episode on the much maligned (and unfairly so?) prequel that started it all, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace! How on Earth did the producers let Lucas get away with these abhorrent Trade Federation characters? What was with the awful Gungan speech pattern? Why did they have to make Anakin the product of Immaculate Conception? And wasn’t this movie better with the puppet Yoda? PLUS: Cliegg Lars contracts a nasty Hutt STD!

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace stars Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd, Ian McDiarmid, Hugh Quarshie, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Frank Oz, Terence Stamp, Ray Park, Oliver Ford Davies, Brian Blessed, and Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks; directed by George Lucas.

Thanks so much for subscribing to the We Hate Movies Patreon! We know you have many options in your choice of podz and we very much appreciate you choosing us!

Tristan

I want the Cabin versus Erik debate on the best Prequel movie Cabin (3) Erik (1). But i guess if they are both so so movies it won't be an epic debate.

The Immaculate Conception is the belief that the Virgin Mary was free of original sin from the moment of her conception. I’m sorry.

Lono's Oboe

In regards Terrence Stamp working on the movie. Apparently he had no interest until he found out he was working with Natalie Portman so eh....yeah. He did the movie because he had "a crush" on her. (His words) so somebody call David Bowie. (Joking aside, fucking hell she was creeped on back then)
