On this very special We Love Movies edition of AD, the gang welcomes Steve's wife, Jenn K. to the program to chat about one of the all-time great stop-motion films, The Nightmare Before Christmas! How incredible is all the production design in here? Can we all agree that Danny Elfman is one of the greatest to ever do it? And couldn't we have checked in on some of those other holiday realms? PLUS: The Queen gets a viking funeral!

The Nightmare Before Christmas stars the voices of Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, Catherine O'Hara, William Hickey, Glenn Shadix, Paul Reubens, Greg Proops, and Ken Page as Oogie Boogie; directed by Henry Selick.

I have a love-hate relationship with this movie. Love because it's a staple of child hood. Hate because it codified all of Tim Burton's worst aesthetics.

I love this movie, so I'll have to rewatch it tonight. Singing along to the songs as well of course. And yes, bonfire night is the same thing as Guy Fawkes Night, aka remember remember the 5th of November 🙂

Smaug

I never clicked with this movie and always found it kind of boring. I like that human-eating wreath though and I made one to hang on my front door at Christmas, it's going strong 5 years in.

Honestly have avoided this one because of the fanbase. Might have to actually give it a shot

Hilariously, Kingdom Hearts actually gives an answer re: whether they kill people in Halloween Town or not. Jack says they only like to scare people, not actually hurt them. No idea how that works out for Mr. Dracula's lifestyle, though...

Jenn! I also thought the same thing when I saw the Slenderman girls... I looked exactly like that when I was 14. I loved this movie when I first saw it at a friend's house, but I felt an immense guilt when I showed it to my younger sister and she cried when they kidnapped Santa... there's only room for one goth in this family, I guess.

When the Mayor said 'There's only 365 days left until next Halloween', I felt that. :(

I watched this movie for the first-time last year. I think it's great. Halloweentown is my kind of town!
