On this very special WLM edition of The Nexus, the guys are chatting about the most overlooked and under-watched Trek film, Star Trek: The Motion Picture

How amazingly (and eagerly) does Kirk totally screw over that turd, Captain Decker? Would Lieutenant Commander Sonak still be alive if Kirk hadn't bogarted the transporter controls and just let Rand do her job? Has there been better model work in any other Trek movie? And can we please bring back introductory overtures? Because this Jerry Goldsmith score rules! PLUS: Don't we all want to hang out with College Spock?

Star Trek: The Motion Picture stars William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, George Takei, Majel Barrett, Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols, Persis Khambatta, Grace Lee Whitney, and noted piece of shit, Stephen Collins as Decker; directed by Robert Wise.

The Nexus is a WHM podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support this weird thing we do—we couldn't do it without you!

Why has there never been a Disco Bones action figure?

Nathan Lemire

"Well, you didn't make the X-Files" LOL

BTW I recommend a Side Order of Sleeze episode on "Pretty Maids in a Row." It is a 1971 movie starring Rock Hudson, ‎Angie Dickinson and Telly Savalas; who are in a sex-teen comedy written by Gene Roddenberry! It's on YouTube

I had to fly out to St Louis and work 14 hrs days for a week, I watched this movie every night in the hotel to try and fall asleep.... i never made it past the 35 min mark 😁 great fucking movie, so comfy and relaxing to throw on.

Trekkies just makes me sad. It's not fun weirdos like American Movie, it's just...sad.

Happy Birthtime!

This is the first film I can remember seeing on the big screen as a kid. My dad took me to see it as he was a big Trek fan. I mainly remember being dazzled by the scale and the trippy effects. He’d also taken me to see Star Wars prior to that but I was far too young to remember that experience.

Sarah Nichols

They make you sad?! That’s…sad. Maybe you should care less about strangers

Bones with horny Santa beard and disco medallion could 100% smash.

Michael Daniels

Human compassion doesn't cost anything. The movie Trekkies is just mean spirited. It isn't really funny.

martin ford

This movie is a screensaver

Smaug

Yeah it wasn't for me. Even though it was superficially like Cinemania, Cinemania hit me more like just voyeurism. Whereas Trekkies was mean gawking and poking

Moondragon is an outer space psychic and martial artist. In the comics she is Drax's daughter.

Oh man, my Pendleton sweater is my absolute favorite piece of winterwear. It was pricey, but it's the best piece of clothing I've ever bought myself

Great america here in the bay area, California was once called paramount's great America. We had top gun, days of thunder, and other paramount licensed rides. I think there was a star trek experience but I don't remember exactly.

RIP Gallagher KERSPLAT.

A plant of living machines, you are describing cybertron.

Drew Stewart

Yeah, Kings Island in Ohio once had walk-around Klingons and Starfleet members. It was a wild time.

I read the book (I was that kind of kid) and there was definitely talk about the super horniness but I don't specfically recall Sulu having such a problem with boners in the workplace.
