On this month's bonus WLM, the guys are chatting about Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi/horror masterpiece, Alien! How fantastic is it to watch a movie with this much precision set work, starring a bunch of sweaty, salt-of-the-earth actors? How cool is Tom Skerritt's Bleep-Bloop room? Has Sigourney Weaver ever been better? Are they wearing that same diaper throughout the whole cryo-sleep? And does this film have cinema's first Trash Can Scare? PLUS: Look out, folks, it's England's own "Rotten" Rid!

Alien stars Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, John Hurt, Yaphet Kotto, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, Ian Holm, Helen Morton, and Bolaji Badejo as the Xenomorph; directed by Ridley Scott.

I absolutely loathe Prometheus and Covenant. The fact that they like those movies makes me take whatever opinion they give with a grain of salt.

I was so disappointed in Prometheus. I went solo to the theater to see it I was so excited. It started off pretty good. But just got dumber and dumber. I will admit, I laughed pretty hard when Charlize got squished because she refused to zig OR zag, but I don't think that's the reaction they were going for ...

My mom took me to see Aliens.... I was 3.

Seeing John Hurt and Harry Dean Stanton made me wish for David Lynch on the WLM feed. I'm sure other patrons would agree as well.

We are adopting an orange cat today and now I have to come up with a different name, thanks a lot Steve! :)

I’ve called Resurrection in for LRM for YEARS, they need to cover it!!

Alien(s) are my two favorites and hard to chose between the two. I saw Alien3 in theaters when I was 12 and hated it, I think mostly because I was more connected to Newt from pt 2 and was upset. Years later I went back and have a love for it. I still can't get behind 4 though. I too had a cat that I named Jones when I was a kid after Riley s cat.

My mother saw this in the theater when it came out. Her boyfriend at the time took her. She told me she was already not into the movie but got talked into it. She had enough at the chest-burster scene. Left the theater and nearly threw up. Happens to be one of my favorite movies. Glad to hear you all are as big of fans of the Alien franchise as I am. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays all!

I asked my mom about what it was like seeing it in theaters, here's her response: "I went to Alien with a friend who had seen it already and made him tell me when the chest scene was coming up. It was very scary, I had to cover my eyes at times and the soundtrack was really anxiety making."

Thanks guys for making my December and explaining def one of the best sci- fi horror movies of the 20th century. Love ur banter about Scott saying he wanted the feel of Texas Chainsaw in space and u feel the dread in that area where no one can hear you scream lol. The title card, the Female hero final woman, the writing and the great set design wove this movie into a must watch at any age at any time in our lives. Thank you for the knowledge and the humor u bring to the table.😉 🤟 Loyal Patreon Subscriber Bryan from Lake Stevens, Wa

If you're ever rewatching Alien and wanted an approximation of the theater experience seeing it when it opened, I put together the trailers that may have run at the beginning of it back in the day. Enjoy! https://www.dropbox.com/s/1caxsvw0dpphs2u/May%2025%2C%201979%20trailer%20reel.mp4?dl=0

In Aliens, they make jokes about Arcturian p*ssy, so there are definitely other alien species.
