On this month's trip into The Nexus the gang chats about a rad ep of TOS and a totally garbage clip show episode of TNG!

First up on TOS, it's "The Immunity Syndrome," which originally aired back on January 19, 1968. Was this supposed to be a Star Trek chamber drama? Is Bones getting the crew addicted to crank? And why did anyone think that disgusting CGI shot of the shuttle would look cool?

Then over on TNG, a writers' strike forced the crew into a clip show scenario on "Shades of Gray," the season two finale that originally aired July 15, 1989. The framing device for the episode is Riker getting jabbed by an evil vine which will kill him, forcing Pulaski, in her final appearance, to figure out a cure. How gross was it watching Geordi and Data just walk right into that bog? How great is Marina Sirtis in this episode? And did Riker's extreme horniness bring him closer to death?

The Nexus is a We Hate Movies podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support this weird thing known as WHM! We couldn't do it without you!

Seeing this reminded me we're only a couple TOS episodes away from the one where Diana Muldaur shows up as Random Crew Babe of the Month.

Eric said TOS original effects aren't available. They are. On Amazon. The remastered specifies that it's remastered and then there is a second one that's buried and it's just "Star Trek". I exclusively watch the og effects for the cheese.

Unfortunately, gents: Amobea Music closed back in April 2020. They were struggling with high lease costs for years on Sunset Blvd, but plan to reopen (post COVID-19) on Hollywood Blvd.

SEINFELD's finale is what it is BUT that clip show retrospective they aired before is just amazing. Not just the SUPERMAN theme clip, but GREEN DAY's "Good Riddance" behind the scenes video was epic...whether or not you like the song.

When I was a kid there was a show on TV where people would write in asking to see something from TV again and they would play a clip. This was before VCRs. So Picard could have come out in a tan suit with a bunch of paper and "Shirley from Timaru thinks Riker's had some good times and let's see some of those now".

I've got a bunch of metal sporks, they're for camping. REI and all of the sporting goods/camping supply places sell them

The new effects were done in 2006 because the syndicators demanded something special to replay the old episodes.
