To many folks, my channel is most known for making high quality coding videos. My video on QML is probably my "best" (to date) and it's the video that Packt referenced when they contacted me a few months back. But despite the positive feedback, I don't make many coding videos.

Bottom line is, they aren't fun to make. I've tried a few different editing styles but the process is typically the same. It is tedious and even frustrating at times. Coding videos are by far the most time intensive videos I produce for my channel.

If you've seen my coding videos, you've probably notice that I don't code & narrate at the same time. That is, in my opinion, the key to making good quality coding videos. A coder/narrator simply cannot focus on coding and talk eloquently to an audience at the same time. If you've ever done a technical demo for a group of people, you'll know exactly what I mean.

I'd love to make a video about my recording and editing process sometime. My videos are 100% script-less; I don't even take notes anymore. The most I'll do for a video is jot some bullet points down on my whiteboard, but that's it.

Coding videos don't fit this mold very well. I have to record several takes of the same footage and then record a voice-over on top of it. And everything has to be synced up to make sense and feel cohesive. And there's a lot of re-recording because I find mistakes or inconsistencies during editing. Ugh it's such a pain.

So yeah, despite having the highest retention and positive feedback of all the video categories on my channel, that's why I don't make many coding videos.
