I'm really excited about this week's video but it's just time for a bit of a reprieve from the weekly grind of making videos. This one was released late because I just didn't have much time during the week to work on it.

The change in my work schedule has really thrown things off. I used to have about 2 to 3 hours each morning to work on Egee.io stuff but I've found that time has disappeared.. Instead, I get around 12 solid hours on the weekend to work on projects. I generally spend about an hour or two a day working on videos so front-loading my weekends with video work really cramps my style.

It also prevents me from working on other projects like moving the Egee.io game servers to AWS. I also have some secret projects I'm working on including a big revamp of the site and a few Linux desktop apps that I've been incubating for a while.

I've got a couple big videos planned to end 2018 off with a bang but consider this blog post my official notice that I'm ending my weekly video routine for the rest of the year. You can still find my doing "regular" streams/videos on my other channel, EgeePlays. Seems like folks are enjoying the content on that channel which is awesome! KDE vs Gnome - Resource Usage Comparison & Benchmarks

Let's do a simple comparison between KDE and Gnome on Manjaro 18! There's little question that Gnome & KDE are the biggest players in the Linux desktop space. However, there always seems to be debates around which desktop is "faster" or the lightest weight. Based on the results from this video, I think we can say that KDE is generally a lighter weight distro in terms of RAM usage. CPU usage is a bit more subjective though it seemed as though KDE apps tended to use a bit more CPU cycles than Gnome apps did. In terms of gaming performance, both desktops performed nearly the same. Gnome saw better fps in the Unigine benchmark but KDE saw better fps in the HalfLife 2 benchmark. ~~ Support the channel!
