The first character is just a blacksmith NPC we have in mind. More Nordic styled with blonde hair and more muscular due to swinging a hammer all day. Most of the shops/inn/things will be run by females or have a female component to them. There will still be a lot of male characters just we would like to have some ability to interact with every female. Not all will have a long progression but there will be something even if it is just a simple transaction.

The lower character is a concept for the thief companion. Sort of a street lieutenant that followed you from your previous position to the new city. My inspiration was HK-47 from KOTOR 1, a hardened decisive killer.

We are toying with the idea of bounty system to work against just choosing unlawful/extreme choices all the time. This would add gravity/weight to some of the more drastic decisions you may make. Lots of these are just ideas, we have during initial development.

I like the idea of good choice/bad choice in games. It brings back fond memories of nuking Megaton (I think that's the name) in Fallout 3. The girls look good too.

TropicThunder

That's a pretty manly chin on the thief companion.

Dig the blacksmith a lot.

As a dweller from the frozen north i salute this art choice! Now i must leave to go outside and swing my hammer! :D

<3 HK-47. Good choice, beautiful art. If by bounty system you mean a price on the PC's head for acting reprehensibly, I don't think that really adds any gravity to choices. More challenge perhaps, but not more significance. To really make players feel the weight of their main choices you should: 1. build up to them, to build expectation; 2. explain consequences clearly before the choice so they can clearly evaluate options rather than flipping a coin; and 3. bring them face-to-face with those consequences after the fact.

Is it weird that I'm more excited for this game than Xcom 2?

God damn the arms on that blacksmith (I like). It be really cool if you got the bounty system working like you say in your game. Can't think of many games that would encourage a more "Gray" morality playthrough. Most morality systems usually devolve into the Pure Goddness or Pure Satan play through. Wonder how many more scars that companion has where I can't see...

TurnipFactory

Blacksmith looks great. Thief companion could do with a few less scars on the body, otherwise she reminds me a bit of Katarina from League of Legends which is a good thing. I'm upping my pledge for a while because I think you guys are doing a really great job at communicating to your patrons at the moment (and I'm glad that Injustice will not be permanently shelved!). Will there be a system about the hiring of a generic army/warband in addition to the accumulation of female "friends"? If the bounty system goes in I imagine you'll need soldiers to defend yourself and eventually contribute to the war effort when you're in the upper tier of the game or win the war when you become king, or you'll have a very short reign indeed. I'm sure a bulk discount could be worked out with the blacksmith when it comes to equipping your soldiers...

"My inspiration was HK-47", well the first thing i look for in a sidekick is a lack of respect for meatbags :)

Tarakis

Very good concepts :D CHEERS

Regarding your blacksmith character, I am thinking of her having some resemblance with Charsi of Diablo 2 fame, the female barbarian blacksmith in the rogues' camp who could add a socket to an item by choice. http://diablo.wikia.com/wiki/Charsi

I am curious now about the NPC's interaction. Will only certain classes deal with certain NPCs or will the NPCs be open to all but have different reaction to their class?

gunsmokegames

MF all the way. Add a socket into a tarn helm...slap a perfect topaz in it and do some bloody runs, or go and run Mephisto - SmokeShank

Wanderer

well i know what class i'm starting as, Just remember, rogues do it from behind :)

gunsmokegames

The NPCs will be open to all, maybe a couple unique exceptions. The basic options will be the same but you might have more options or a different layout based on class. Say the slaver at the black market will have much more options than the others.

gunsmokegames

Thanks, yeah I was thinking of Katarina making this one. The designs might change a bit as I go along though. Right now I'm just seeing the bounties as a penalty for getting too out of control. With the corruption in the city you'd just pay off the soldiers to make it go away. Each class will have it's own way of taking over the city that makes sense for them.

Wolfregis

Holy shit, Kotor is one of my favorite Star Wars games of all time, so the fact your making a character inspired by one of the most memorable characters in that game is just kickass.
