CHAPTER 65

Now power walking to match the pace of the students in front (He passed the ice floor by stepping hardly to break the ice before continuing), he stepped into the zone of the first obstacle, the Robo Inferno (Horrible name honestly speaking). 

There were a total of 7 zero pointer robots — 

SHHRRIIKKKKK!!!

... 6 zero pointer robots in front of him. Damn, that was so much cooler up close than he thought. He was about top 30 right now, so with his pace, he could take his time — 

The robots that were targeting other students in front of him suddenly changed their priorities, from the students to him only, as all of them stopped and looked at Gohru. 

... It seems that the school didn't want him to win easily. Very sneaky way of making him feel special, Nezu.

Taking a few big steps at a time, he dodged every single attempt while continuously singing to the beat, redirecting some attacks towards the students who took advantage of the fiasco, making sure that not more than 41 people went past him (He had been counting). He even saw Bakugo fly past him earlier over the robots.

Suddenly, he sees a green blur dash through the course and through him, making him grin. It seemed that Midoriya had waited for Todoroki to freeze the competition before starting his move, just like the whole class.

Midoriya, throughout the two weeks, had finally developed his Quirk to a controllable degree. Even though it's a few weeks earlier, he had now taken a step further to become a Hero. 

One for All: Full Cowl — 3%.

He could only control 3% perfectly for now, but it increased his physical prowess by two folds, making him faster than ever. It was a huge improvement. 

You sink, you fall, you break down.

And you think you can't take,

One more round.

But something almost evil keeps getting you up.

He continues to see 1-A breezing through the first obstacle, making him start jogging to maintain top 42. Feeling his body being slower than usual, he frowns before increasing his pace, mentally noting himself to train more.

Something angry,

There were a lot of noise behind him from a cannonball (Yaoyorozu) to electricity shocking the robots (Kaminari), so he was a little too fast he guessed. Some of the ones in front were not from 1-A, so he should cull some of them for the 1-A students behind him to catch up. 

Reaching the second obstacle, he whistled at the amount of effort made to even create the pits. He was impressed that they did this in just 5 hours, the distance to the ground was so dark that he couldn't even see the end. 

He had planned to just drop underground as it was easier to just run than use the ropes, but he needed to change plans. The time needed to drop and climb back up slowly would take too long. 

Oh, he just saw Hatsume Mei use her support item to reach one of the points. And Ochako just used her Quirk on herself before starting to climb on the rope. 

Where was Denji anyways?

'Eh, he should be in front, at least top 15 if he takes his time.'

Shrugging, he took note of the number of people, waiting for them to hit exactly 41 people in front of him before crossing over the ropes with ease. With an abnormal core strength, balancing becomes an easy task. 

Why does he not try to get number 1? Because of the points of the next game, plus, he wanted his classmates to at least get some spotlight before he unintentionally ruins it. 

... He also wanted to relax a little... Maybe throw some of the attention to his classmates if he could, that would mean that fewer paparazzi would try to find him later during break time.

Keeping his pace as the number 42th, he finally reached the landmine obstacle. This obstacle is one that puts those in the lead at a disadvantage, so he wondered what Midoriya would do even with Full Cowl? Maybe just run towards the goal? Or just — 

BOOOOMM!!!

Just as he thought about him, Midoriya soared through the sky, shrouded in green lightning as he flew with great speeds towards the front. 

... So it went exactly like the canon, but this time he used his body instead of the robot's armor. That was good to know that the major events did not change that much.

BOOOM!!!

Ah, that last explosion was to knock the front two, Todorki and Bakugo, away, right? I wonder what he used to activate the landmines. His feet maybe? With Full Cowl, his defensive parameters increased two folds too, so maybe he did that.

Hey, he just saw Denji standing in the middle watching them fight. Lucky him. Oh, he just used 3D Maneuver to fly towards the goal. Interesting, he thought that he would wait like him to hit top 30 to 40 since the second event will be based on position. 

For now thought, he should increase his pace for the last time, everyone in front of him and behind him were speeding up now.

Running through the goal, he was greeted with cheers from the audience. Walking close to Denji who looked normal compared to the panting students beside him, he just smirked. 

Their training was worse than a 4 km run, it was 10 kilometers in 5 minutes, you know? His stamina was still in the green. Stretching his joints, he stopped the music on his phone before gathering at the middle for the second event to commence. 

Looking at the leaderboards, he nodded in satisfaction as he sees all 1-A class members on it in the top 30, Denji was 13th with Gohru at dead last at number 42. 

"The top 42 made it through to the next round! Now that the culling has finished, the real competition begins next! Give it your all!"

The hologram slot starts spinning once again as Midnight grinned. 

"Now then, here is the second game. I already know what it is, but what could it be? What could it be?"

She teases as the slot slows down to a complete stop, revealing the next game to be Calvary.

"This will be the next game, Cavalry!"

"Cavalry? I'm bad at those..." (Kaminari)

"I wonder how it's going to work, this isn't an individual game..." (Asui)

The hologram shows another presentation about the game as she explained. 

"The participants can form teams of two to four people as they wish as horses and a rider. It's basically the same as a regular cavalry battle, but there's one thing that's different... It is that based on the results of the last game, each person has been assigned a point value." 

"Same as the entrance exam, huh? That makes it easier to understand how they plan to eliminate teams to the finals..." (Sato)

"In other words, each team is worth different points depending on who's on the team!" (Ochako)

"Ah, so that's how it works!" (Ashido)

"That's right! And the points assigned go up by five starting from the bottom. So 42nd place gets 5 points, and 41st gets 10 points, and so on!

And the point value assigned to first place is... 10 MILLION!" 

Midoriya tilts his head in confusion for a split second before his face pales. 

"T-Ten... Ten... Ten!"

He mutters in shock as he suddenly felt gazes on his body. Turning to look, he froze as everyone was looking at him... His points to be accurate. 

"Ten million..."

"That means, if you take down the first place player's team..."

"""You basically win the event!"""

Everyone started looking at him like a prey as he gulped in fear, looking at Midnight who just had a seductive smile, her cheeks flushed for some reason. 

"That's right, everyone... It's survival of the fittest, with a chance for those at the bottom to overthrow the top!"

Cracking his neck, he looked over at all the remaining players, taking note of them to make sure that he and Denji would target them to be top 4 as a two-man group. 

Oh right, he had to grab Denji — 

"We're doing this together, aren't we?"

Asked Denji who was already at his side, causing him to grin at the fast understanding.  

"Not bad, Denji. Yeah, we're aiming for only 4th, no extra. It's only courtesy to let them take the spotlight for now."

He said not as a boast, but a fact. With their skills currently, they simply outperform every single one of them with ease. Sighing, Denji just nodded as they started planning quietly to make sure that they don't accidentally do something that would change the major plot lines.
