Good to hear you’re feeling better. You’re absolutely right, I’ve never met anyone who has introduced themselves as, “part of the Twitter mob.”

TheKingofAverage

hah see I barely even know what that means. Perhaps that's part of an issue too is I'm not very well "versed" in the ins and outs of a lot of these issues as I don't really surround myself with it very much. I want to be happy in life and often I see so much people getting upset :(

You also grew up with a lot of Star Trek and in that show they made a conscious effort to show we as a society are better with diversity. That's what makes Star Trek better than Star Wars (yes, you read that right). Star Trek has always been character driven stories. Just my 2 cents.

I appreciate hearing this update. I actually hadn’t watched the “Wokehaven” podcast when I listened to this, but I just did. I commented over there, but wanted to thank you again for speaking out. So many people remain silent, but as you mentioned in the video, silence is also a statement and contributes to the problem. And you addressed the issues with humility and respect for all parties- well done man! And lastly, in response to a comment above, I have to say that Star Wars is in a league of its own compared to other science fiction/ “space adventure” genres. There’s no comparison =P

Yes exactly my point! Story tellers are in a unique space to be able to say things normally you can't get away with. They famously have broken past censors and social norms of the time throughout history. It's a path I want to encourage, not push away from.

I have a feeling perhaps having people listen to this and THEN watch the video would have ended up better. So often we bring a bunch of baggage to a topic from pre-concieved notions to past experiences and I think that colors a lot of how people view things.

I love when you call us a rockstar, it brings value to us, as individuals. Uplifting people with “rockstar” isn’t cheesy at all! I love uplifting people by calling them awesome! You, Micheal, are awesome. You’re an awesome person that brings joy to the world; to your family, to your friends, and towards anyone that comes your way! Continue to be great!

I am grateful for your channel. I do not watch boardgame channels anymore (beside yours) because almost all seem ... not honest. Barely any raise concerns about upcoming kickstarters. As for your Wokehaven video, thank you ! This gave me some hope that this hobby is not entirely lost. I do not want this woke / SJW stuff in every single boardgame, TV series, comic or computer game. I want an interesting story and game mechanic and i miss the time when things were allowed to just be entertaining without walking on eggshells

Regarding your loss of subscribers, I am sure they are people who view the world as "black and white" as you say. When you view the world in such simple terms you tend to react immediately to stimuli, so I would imagine most of them unsubscribed just from your thumbnail. Speaking for myself, I joined your patreon (my first patreon) because I also took issue with Isaac's condescension more so than the rewrite itself and appreciated your nuanced take on it. I sought and received a refund because I don't believe in giving money to people who ascribe group guilt to people they have never met or spoken to. I totally don't blame anyone who disagrees with me, or even agrees with me but aren't seeking a refund, but that was my stance. Anyway I just wanted to say I appreciate the bravery it took to post that video and I believe in supporting people of quality character. Thanks for all of your other content I have enjoyed previously as well.

Thank you very much John for the kind comment. It's easy to get disheartened when I make a video to try and push for kindness by default and get such anger in response. I just want people to be happy here so I'm very glad to hear that message is not entirely lost. :)

Yeah I can understand that. Personally I'm fine with a plethora of game opportunities but what I've always been big on is creators being able to create what they want to create. It's one of the great things about Kickstarters. HATE wouldn't exist with out it. KDM wouldn't exist without it. Everyone in the industry is watching Isaac. He rant the most successful Kickstarter for board games ever. I felt like he's scared to even touch the subjects he's trying to avoid and while I'm fine with an attempt to avoid them if you desire, I don't want the industry afraid to touch on tough subjects. There are people like me that love that type of story telling and I feel the industry isn't there yet.
