I think you should let up on the background noises, and make the videos when it's convenient for you. It will give you a break from trying to work through the night. You'll be happier and you'll get more sleep. Hope you feel better.

I will give it a shot :) Sadly feel about the same today but cough is way worse and hurts. Hoping it relents some on Sunday.

Thanks for update! I don't care hearing reallife in backround. I also dont care if dogs bark in backround when we play boardgames. Or when emergency drives by when having a call. Keep your community updated when it it fits YOU best in your limited time :-) -my2cent

Live Q&A would be fun. I think Patreon first and maybe have Jen on it if she's willing to show up. I think the extra space to do videos out of would make it harder on you. It would be come more work to head down there (harder when its snowing) each time to make a video. Or you would need equipment in both locations as you may not want to head down there all the time. You would also need to bring games to the office and back for each shoot. You'll forget something here and there and that would cause issues and delays with posting videos. You might leave a game at the office you wanted to play on game night. Add a lot of complications. Background noise has never been an issue for me. I hear it on so many videos and as long as its someone isn't drilling or hammering in the room your filming it, its not an issue. I think most people are use to hearing background noise since covid started because of video/phone meetings while working from home. To me its white noise. I don't even notice it anymore.

Hmmm, good point about the office space logistics issue. I'll give recording before 10pm a shot and see how it goes :D

Background noise is not an issue unless it is extremely loud. Make things as easy on yourself as you can. If it turns out being annoying, I think I would see about adding sound deadening material before looking at an external office. I agree with Jim Blake that it would likely make it harder than what you are doing now. The other thing is that not all office environments are that quiet and it might not solve anything. Moderate background noise might be an issue if you were creating music videos but not with the videos you create. We are paying attention to your content and will not be distracted by a little noise.

I appreciate your transparency here. As the others have said above, background noise wouldn’t be a problem at all- go for it! Regarding getting a separate space for some of the work, I know that my wife and kids really love it when I’m home. Even if I’m holed up in my office, the fact that I’m physically in the house makes a difference to them. And you could use this adjustment in the time of when you shoot your videos as a springboard for setting up some more firm boundaries regarding interruptions when you’re “on the clock” (well, at least semi-firm boundaries since we’re dealin with family, right?). Just my thoughts. Having a live Q&A would be great! I’d vote for it to be for our Patreon community only, of course, but either way would be fun =)

I don't think background noise would be a problem. And being able to record the videos at a time that works best for you could have beneficial effects to your effectiveness.

It took a long time but my kids are finally pretty good with not interrupting. Not being loud right outside my door as they play/argue on the other hand... :D
