Chapter 186: Announcement

“So…sorry about that. Let's get back to business.” Said Jimbei with a serious expression.

“Hody and his gang have taken over the palace and his men have the King, his sons, and his soldiers as hostages… that's all we know for now.”

“That's just what Vivi said, not much to go on.” Added Nami.

“Guys!” Chopper came out of the ship and called for them. 

“Hachi has woken up. He says he has important information, you need to come here, he can't leave the bed.”

Except for the princess who didn't fit inside the ship and Luffy who had to stay to protect her, everyone else went inside to hear what Hachi had to say.

They found him laying in bed, covered in bandages. Camie was sitting next to him.

"My friend, who did this to you?!" Asked Jimbei with a mixture of concern and anger.

"Jimbei…listen. I learned of Hodys plans…if he is not stopped, the whole country will succumb to chaos."

"So, you learned about his plans? That guy, I knew he was scheming something but never said it in front of me."

Jimbei took out the letter that Vivi had brought him.

"According to this letter written by a mermaid from the farming district. Hody has been forcefully recruiting both fishmen and humans to create an army as well as demanding money from everyone he could."

"He must have been preparing to take over this island for a long time then," Said Nami.

"Yes…" Admitted Hachi. "Hody hatred for humans surpasses even Arlong. He grew up basking in hatred for humans. But there is one thing that makes them very different from each other. Arlong hated humans but would never hurt another fisherman, he was just a racist. Hody however will kill any fishmam who tries to befriend a human or just gets in the way of his plans."

"So a giant racist and a dictator, you really know who to make friends with, Hachi" Said Vivi.

The octopus looked a bit ashamed and Nami hit her with her elbow.

"Fine, I won't comment on it" Vivi spoke.

Jimbei coughed. 

"Continue. What is Hody's plan"

"The reverie takes place every four years. Rulers of all Kingdoms get together to make decisions that will affect the world. His Majesty has been gathering signatures from the citizens of the island. He was planning on presenting a formal request at the reverie to move Fishman Island to the surface." Explained Hachi.

"He is planning on stopping that!" Was Jimbei's conclusion.

"No…worse" Before he could continue, they all heard a loud buzzing noise coming from the outside.

"There is a giant snail out there!" Exclaimed Chopper while looking out of the window.

"That's a visual snail, you can see the monitor that came out of it" Added Franky.

An image appears on the screen. A big fisherman with pale skin.

"That's him!. Is Hody!" Shouted Jimbei.

"Citizens of Fishman Island. Can you all hear me?" 

"He is sensing this message to everyone on the island?" Wondered Sanji.

"That seems to be the case. He is addressing everyone" Said Vivi.

"I am the Captain of the Fishman Pirates, Hody Jones. I have something important to tell you. "

"He looks so much like Arlong.." Said Nami.

"Yeah, except for the nose" commented Sanii.

"He has a very punchable face," Vivi said while staring at the screen.

Hody continued his announcement. "This country will be destroyed and a new one will be born in its place. I am your new King!" 

"What?!, how dare he!" Jimbei screamed with rage.

"Anyone who desires peace with the humans should leave this place at once. Soon, new citizens will arrive in this country. Comrades who share our hatred for the human race and who will bring change to this island" 

"He is talking about his crew…those outlaws." Said Hachi.

"I know many of you witnessed the murder of our beloved Queen Otohime. If we believe in approaching humans peacefully,  they will only betray us as they betrayed her!" Shouted Hody.

"Now he is using the dead Queen to gain points with the citizens, what a jerk," Said Franky.

"The words of the family of Neptune have dulled your minds, you have all been deceived into walking to your own deaths!, open your eyes to the truth. Coexistence with humans is impossible! They will always see us as nothing more than slaves, to be used for their whims."

'He could have been a popular politician back in my world' Thought Vivi.

"See for yourselves!" Shouted Hody before the image changed from a close-up shot to a wide angle of him next to a chained and beaten King Neptune.

They could hear the scream of agony from the princess.

"This once mighty warrior has grown old, he can no longer guide you to greatness"

"Yikes…is kinda our fault that the King got captured so quickly…well, mainly Zoros fault" Nami commented.

"What have you people been playing at?" Cried Jimbei.

"But Master Jimbei, His Majesty, and the guards attacked them first. It was all a big misunderstanding" Exclaimdx Camie.

"It is time for us to say goodbye to the old Ryuuguu Kingdom" Hody continued his monologue on the screen.

"In three hours, I will strike the head from the worthless King's shoulders"

They heard Shirahoshi scream again.

"Here in the royal palace, I have found something very interesting."

Hody held a letter in his hand.

"This is the letter from the Celestial Dragon that Queen Otohime risked her life to obtain, if I destroy it now it will never be replaced, and behind me is the box containing the signatures of over half the population of this country who agreed with the King's decision. To think that so many of my brothers and sisters would agree to this foolish notion of being friendly with the humans…I feel disgusted" 

He pointed back at the box.

"The names written in those letters have made their positions clear…as far as I'm concerned, this is a list of filthy traitors!" Hody gave a cruel. smile to the camera.
