I've spent the weekend planning the game: The stats that we need, the size of tiles, the size of each map, where to show the equipment, the portraits and an approximate of the interface design.

Since all of the votes where for renpy so far, I'll start making the game in renpy, It should be easy to dust off my old character movement code, and my very old tile system, refactor them and get the wheel rolling.
I can predict some performance issue with the amount of displayables on the screen for the tile system and the usual key_down problem with the character movement would be the things I might have to spend some time on but let's not worry about them this early, 

Note: The portraits are placeholders and don't represent the games final art, we will hire an artist to handle it, the same goes for the pixel art assets or the interface.
