The girl who approached Marri next was already a spectacle, by human standards anyway. The witch shrugged. "Sure. What exactly is it that you're after?"

"I wish to join the merfolk in Aquantia. I want you to turn me into a mermaid," she said, offering a bag of gold onto the counter.

Marri glanced at the bag and nodded. "Reasonable enough. Anything special you need with it?"

"...I want to glow," the girl said after a moment. "So I can explore the depths of the ocean unhindered."

Marri grinned. "Oh, fun! Hey, you got it." Then, she retrieved her wand from the cabinet. "I'll take us to the beach then. I hope you can find Aquantia on your own. I don't really do the whole fish thing myself," the shopkeep explained.

The girl nodded. "Trust me, I'll find it."

That night...

The girl was naked as she sat on the sand, her breasts bobbing slightly as she breathed deeply with anticipation. Tingling erupted in her legs as the magic forced them together, sealing them up and down the center with dark cobalt scales. Her arms soon became coated in those same scales, and she flexed her fingers as clear webbing grew between them. Clear fins similarly sprouted from the base of her new tail and at her hips as well, and small white dots appear on not only her tail and arms, but also her shoulders and breasts, looking somewhat like freckles. Even her nipples turned stark white. She swallowed as her canines grew long and pointed into fangs and her neck itched as her gills grew in. Lastly, as her ears were pointing and sprouting fins, two long antennae sprouted from the top of her head. The ends of each one grew heavy and bulbous and they swayed at her slightest head turn. Finally, as she panted from the sensations of change all across her body, she gasped as all the white spots on her body, as well as the fins and especially her antennae, slowly lit up with a vibrant blue glow. She looked to Marri and said, "I'm... like an angler fish?"

Marri nodded, smiling. "Yeah. You said you wanted to glow. I hope you like it. I certainly think you look beautiful like this."

The girl blushed, then turned in place, staring out to the sea and the moon reflecting on its surface. With a rush of excitement, she knew her dream was realized. Teary-eyed, she turned back to Marri. "I... I know for you, this is just another job you got paid for, but... I couldn't have done this on my own. I-I'd have messed something up, or made something that wore off eventually, or... whatever. But this... this is who I am now, isn't it? I can feel it. I... I can't thank you enough!"

Marri smiled warmly. "I just want people to be happy. Now go and have a good life, hey?"

The new mermaid nodded enthusiastically before pulling herself across the sand and into the water. Once her got into deep enough water, she spun around and poked her head out of the water, giving Marri one last wave before disappearing into the depths.

The witch watched the glow fade deeper and deeper into the water until was gone, then, with a content sigh, she flicked her wand and vanished.
