I'd hoped I could finish the video but covid is a harsh mistress. Sorry all, I must push the video back a week (25th).

First time I've had the virus, and it's no fun is it! I'm through the worst of it, but it hit me quite hard with fever for two days earlier in the week, which has wiped me out.

---

Let me tell you a bit about the video anyway, even if I can't show it to you yet: I'm writing a shuttle.rs tutorial! Shuttle is a very cool saas service for deploying web-based rust. Think "heroku for Rust". Because it's ONLY for rust, it's integrated into your code not with config or convention, but with MACROS. You know how I like them! Finally, someone using what I called 'build tools' for build tooling! The company also are building all their infrastructure with Rust, which is so cool.

Shuttle are also sponsoring the video, which is wonderful, I've got some behind-the-scenes information about their product and roadmap that I'll be sharing in the video. I hope to always feature Rust companies, and it's your support here on patreon that allows me to turn down the likes of squarespace, nordvpn and those other boring sponsors. Thank you.

Additionally, when I first got sick I had a terrible realisation that, for the first time in my life, there's no company to give me sick days - if I don't work I don't get paid. This brought me down to earth!

But again, thanks to you generous patrons, I have a fallback income for when YouTube is interrupted (like is happening this month, my YT income will be 1/4 lower due to getting sick).

THAT BEING SAID, please don't think you HAVE to keep subscribed! This isn't a charity, pause your subscription until the next video and I will understand - you don't owe me anything, it is I who am grateful for your support.

OK, back to work for me, I'm going to use this time to improve the video script over what it could have been. Thank you all for your support, I'll have the early video for you on Thursday <3

I had it for the first time recently also. Knocked me out for a good week and still didn’t feel 100% for another couple. Being your own boss is tough because you always know in the back of your mind that you could push to do something. I don’t know much about that Shuttle project, but it’s seemed for a while that there should be some kind of middle ground between CGI which spawns a new process every request, and having the server application itself handle the requests.

As someone who currently also has COVID, that's totally understandable - take care of yourself so you recover quickly! I subscribe to your patreon because I want you to have a stable source of income so that you're not worried if you get sick. Unsubscribing would entirely defeat that point. Rest up and take the time you need to recover.

Oh no Tony, get well soon! Terrible isn't it, total rest helped me I think. And thank you so much for your kind words and generosity, I really appreciate it :-)
