Kubrick's Script Notes for A Clockwork Orange (Patreon)
Content
Hi everybody! Here is a little bonus post to go along with my series on the screenwriting of A Clockwork Orange. These are notes and script pages that Kubrick made while writing the script.
1. Kubrick's Memorandum.
This memorandum was referenced in the series. It is speculated that Kubrick wrote this in order to ensure that he would be recognized the sole writer of the screenplay. This was Kubrick's first time adapting a book for the screen without a collaborator.
2. Deltoid Scene
You can see here how Kubrick formatted the script with the action being favored over the dialogue.
3. Narration Page
Malcolm McDowell recorded all of the narration at Kubrick's house. There were no technicians present-- it was just McDowell, Kubrick, and a microphone.
4. Narration During Ludovico
5. Alex and F. Alexander
This was cut from the film. It seems like this was written before the character of Julian was added.
6. Alex and F. Alexander 2
Alex teaching F. Alexander about nadsat.
7. Typed Notes
Notes for a scene that was not in the final film.
Thanks so much for your continued support!
