[UPDATE] Look What You Did... (Patreon)

Hi everybody! As 2018 is coming to a close, I want to share with you a bit of what’s on the horizon for the coming year. Your support over 2018 has been incredibly helpful and inspiring. I have saved most of the Patreon money over the past year and here’s what I’m doing with it... 

I’m building a set!  

I’ve been experimenting with things on the channel for some time now. If you’ve been around from the beginning, you’ll remember the What I Learned From Watching series. This has since morphed into Making Film, where you can mix and match videos to watch a series of videos on a topic like screenwriting or a series of videos on a single movie like There Will Be Blood. 

Well, as you’ll remember, there is another series that I’ve been developing— CinemaTyler Show— where I can do a broad short-form series of videos that explore film history, a specific technique, a filming location, an event, maybe even merch finds and lighter stuff— all sorts of topics related to movies.  

To help out the intimacy of the series, I have been working on building a set in my apartment. It’s based on the look of Guillermo Del Toro’s Bleak House. 

We’re not allowed to paint in here, so this is actually white vinyl temp paper that we painted over. We can cleanly peel the whole thing off if and when we move. 

For these pictures, I got a bunch of frames and a book of cult movie art that I cut up.  

I’d love to hear your ideas for little knick knacks and memorabilia to put in the background. 

The goal of this set and CinemaTyler Show is to talk about things that wouldn’t fit in my other series and to increase my output. I’d love to get to a point where I put out four videos a month—1 Making Film episode and 3 CinemaTyler Show episodes — with the occasional Kubrick Files here and there. I don’t know if this is a sustainable goal.  

Now, CinemaTyler Show will be fairly light compared to my Making Film series. I’m curious as to your thoughts, so I’m going to post two polls for you to vote on.

1. Should CinemaTyler Show be funded by this Patreon campaign? 
2. Should CinemaTyler Show be on its own separate channel? 

No matter what I decide, if you’re not interested in CinemaTyler Show, you can support only the Making Film series by editing your pledge to once a month.  

So, we are going to do a vote and the top five movies will get a CinemaTyler Show episode on it. The vote is coming soon, so if you haven’t submitted your 3 movie choices or want to change any of your choices before we vote, send your 3 movie choices to tyler@cinematyler.com
