New Alt Shift X logo, branding? (Patreon)

So currently, the Alt Shift X logo is some Times New Roman I chucked together in 2014. The video thumbnails are black Times New Roman on white backgrounds, the channel banner is a confusing mess:

I love this old branding like a beloved old car – it's familiar and nostalgic, but it's bloody ugly and it's leaking oil and the airbags don't work and it doesn't really get you anywhere anymore.

So we're working with a graphic designer to make something better – a sleeker, newer car that better communicates what Alt Shift X is about. Here's a rough concept:

A stylised X for a logo, a simple clear banner, pretty blue thumbnails. We're still working out the details, but I think the simple white-on-blue look is effective.

But before making big changes, I wanna consult you guys – what do you think of the new design ideas? What should Alt Shift X look like?
