Edit: here's the final version of the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbvkP31mMKE

Here’s the new video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6G4oh6Jk6A

This is an early Patron release with a couple of minor visual errors. The public version will go live in a few hours.

Really happy with this video overall – though in hindsight, probably should have spent more time explaining the basics of the timeline… Lots of people confused about that. But otherwise, the vid handles the Valley, Dolores and Maeve pretty well.

Let us know what you think!

Cheers

Great job, as always. I find two things especially curious. How can William/Man in Black continue to survive this bodily damage? I guess he could die in the next episode, but then, really? That would be it? It's feeling like when Arya was stabbed in the stomach and was hopping around the next day, easily mended. Internal bleeding should have William dead very soon. So, I guess I'm starting to wonder if he's a super-host host, incapable of dying (and, obviously, then, the most advanced host). Odd that he seems to move around, get injured without anyone in his company worried or bothering with him. Maybe he is a host and has been for years. Maybe the real William is long gone (or out of the picture). And the 'key' in Peter Abernathy's head. This was all about storing a key? That should be taking much space. Even if it's a complex key, it's just a text file, right? Why the need to store it in a host brain? Didn't we think the file[s] were about something that would take a huge amount of space? Okay ... that's what's bothering me this week. :-) Thanks a bunch for your insane-quality work and all the time and effort you use toward it. Always so excited to hear progress on your analysis.

I don't really like the theory that William is a host as I believe his character works best a representation of humanity's brutal and flawed nature in which him being a host would undercut that.

Agreed, but, gosh, how many times can a person get shot and knifed?

Right, but at least this opens the door (figuratively) for Emily coming to his rescue with a bit more advanced help than the med-pack he had hidden in the bar earlier in the season. Ford did say last season that med-tech has become highly advanced, so it stands to reason that emergency patch up medical advances have also been made- plus, we really don't know what Emily's skill set is. Perhaps she's partially medically trained? It's a reach, or it's plot armour, take your pick. I think, in the end, Ford will offer William something similar to what he did for Arnold, to make a new creation of him based on observation of his behaviour over the years, but I can't say if William will accept this or not. He seems to hate the Hosts after how easily he was duped by Dolores in the first season, but he's also enchanted by them and wants them to be 'real.' You could argue the Hosts are more 'real' to him, even before their awakening than his 'real' life, which granted, about which we know very little. It's hard to really say what his motivation is. At first, he says he wants the stakes to be equitable, so the Hosts can fight back. He's got that now- the stakes are real. But what's his end game, what is he really looking for? Out of all the characters on the show, I find his motivation to be the most complex and difficult to understand.
