Whew, this one took a lot longer than I expected. The Sword of Hope is a fairly large and dense game for a Game Boy release of this vintage, and this particular video ended up being possibly the most intricate Game Boy World episode to date. Hopefully the end results were worth the wait! Turns out The Sword of Hope is a pretty neat little RPG — no masterpiece or anything, but decent (and distinctive) all the same. This is the sort of obscurity Game Boy World exists to bring to light, really.

Game Boy World #024: The Sword of Hope [Kemco Seika, 1989]

The next-to-last Game Boy release for 1989 in Japan, The Sword of Hope wouldn't make it way to America for a year and a half. It's not a game you hear people recall with fondness, though original developer/publisher Kemco seems to have a soft spot for it.
