The revisited Game Boy Works (U.S.A. Remix) series won't include many single-game episodes, since I've already discussed these early games in the context of their Japanese launch. HOWEVER, the U.S. launch context for Tetris is wholly different from the way it landed in Japan, so it gets a big 'un. You know how it goes.

Content blocked in all regions: Tetris | Game Boy Works Vol. 2 002

We're back at Tetris again. And, just as the simple concept of blocks falling from the sky and piling up until you fill complete rows that cause them to vanish translates into a near-infinitely replayable game, the not-so-simple process of bringing a game created under Soviet collectivism to the West and including it the box with a video game system inspires near-infinite video commentary. Well, something like that. Suffice to say, here comes another one of those block-dropping beats. Production notes: Video Works is funded via Patreon (http://www.patreon.com/gamespite) — support the show and get access to every episode up to two weeks in advance of its YouTube debut! Making this the pack in game instead of Super Mario Land was one of the greatest decisions Nintendo ever made.

Both of the Game Boy Works Vol. 2 videos have the NES Works title card at the end. Just wanted to mention that before they go live on the channel in case that’s an error. Looking forward to the more-familiar US-centric Game Boy lineup. Lots of great memories from my childhood. 👍
