Abby walked home on a brisk fall afternoon, her mind feeling depleted after another boring day of college classes. “Should have skipped the last two” she thought to herself as she rounded the sidewalk to her house. She caught her reflection in one of her neighbor’s window. For a 22-year-old, busty brunette, she’d always had felt pretty good about her body. She was the one out of her friend group everyone always said looked the prettiest. She smiled to herself as she bounded up the steps to her suburban home. She turned the knob and pushed open the door to a rush of warm air, and sweet-smelling food.

“Hey Honey!” Her mom echoed from the kitchen as she kicked off her shoes.

“Hey mom, smells great.” She said, immediately heading up to her room. It’d been too long of day to have any kind of conversation with her mom.

She threw all her stuff onto her bed, and immediately switched on her computer. Gamer girl. That’s one of the best ways to describe Abby. She knew it wasn’t so much of a “girly” trait to have, but god did she fucking love zoning out for an entire evening and shooting everyone she saw in her path.

“BOOM! Head shot! Fuck you!” She yelled into her mic. People in her headphones clamored about how much she sucked. She shot a look over at her clock. “Fuck 11:40 already? Damn, I gotta get ready for bed.”

She hit escape to exit out of the game. Her mouse hovered over the quit button, when a message from steam caught her eye. “Hmm? Who’s AB VR?” She thought to herself, she moved her mouse over and clicked on the message.

“Hello Abby_pwns_2! We’ve reviewed your gamer profile, and you’ve been chosen to personally test our new VR product! This is of course a paid position, just click the link below to get the details.”

“Fucking scammers” She thought to herself. “How the hell do these people fall for this stuff? I mean, isn’t it totally obvious they’re just trying to get money out of you?” She chuckled to herself, and decided to click the link just for kicks.

Instantly a bright pink webpage came up, the words “Altered Brain Virtual Reality” in pastel block letters was written across the top of the page. A video of a swirling pink background starting playing, and soft harp music started playing in Abby’s ears. “The hell? What is… Wha… dis…” Her vision started to blur around the edges, the swirl was locked into her sight. The world turned black around her just as she fell asleep. She noticed the harp music turning into a soft man’s voice just as she fell asleep.

“BEEP BEEP BEEP” The sound of her alarm started blaring as her head shot up from her chair. Her headphones falling right off from the sudden movement “Uhh… What the hell happened? Did I fall asleep at the screen again?” She thought to herself. She looked down, the top of her shirt had a wet stain on it. She moved her hand up to feel it. “Wet? Why’s my shirt wet?” She lifted the damp cotton off of her skin to confirm. “Damn, did I spill or something?” It was then she noticed her chin was also soaked. “Oh god, I haven’t drooled in my sleep in forever” She thought as she wiped her face with her wrist. “Ah I should have known better. 11:00 is typically my limit anyways” She muttered to herself. She placed her hands in her face to focus herself, but suddenly recoiled at the cold moist feeling on her cheek. “What the fuck? My thumb too? Why the hell is that wet!” She immediately got up in disgust. Ripping her clothes off and throwing them in her accumulating laundry pile. Her face contorted into revolt as she dried her thumb off on one of the dirty towels on the ground. She caught another glance of the clock. “Fuck I’m gonna be late” she thought, running around her room to suddenly get ready for school.

“MOM!” She yelled as she bounded down the stairs, “I’m gonna need a ride to school!” She said as she jumped down the last couple of stairs. She could hear the TV lightly playing as she passed the living room.

“That’s fine Love!” She said from the kitchen, “I heard you up late, here I made you some eggs. You wanna take that with you and head out now?” Abby gave a loving smile as she grabbed the plate.

“That’d be great mom, we got to leave pretty much now though.” She said as she readjusted the backpack on her shoulder. Her mother nodded as she threw the used pan in the sink. “I’m right behind you!” She said grabbing her purse on the counter.

The two of them walked across the living room to the door when they instantly stopped in their tracks.

“Today’s games are just so fast paced, aren’t they?” The man said, Abby instantly recognized the voice. Pictures of nurseries and diapers flashed across the screen. “What if we told you the best game of the year was one where you didn’t have to do anything?” The two of them were staring blankly at the screen, drool beginning to slowly drip down their chins. “From AB Visual Reality we’re introducing our revolutionary VR technology. The user doesn’t just feel like they’re there, but their mind does as well! Purchase your AB VR at your local gaming store today!” The man on the screen disappeared as images of adults toddling around in diapers, and sucking on oversized pacifiers slowly moved across the screen.

Abby felt like she stood there for ages, her mind floating in a warm stasis, when suddenly the boring man behind the table started talking about the news again. She blinked and shook her head, she felt specs of drool on her chin flew off from the motion. For some reason though, she didn’t nearly as care as much as when she had woke up.

“What were we doing again?” Abby said, her mom shaking her head as well.

“We were uh… uh….. we were going to get that game?.... Right?” Her mom said, as she tilted her head in thought.

“Yeah.. That was… that was it right?” Abby said. “Yeah, I came downstairs, told you we had to buy that game, and now we’re here.” The two looked at each other quizzically. The moment hung, then her mouther started laughing.

“Yes! Duh! Hahah, brain farts for both of us!” Her mom said, breaking the odd tension in the room. Abby couldn’t help but giggle a little bit to the fact her mom just said “farts”. “Come on, let’s hurry before they run out!” Her mom said, Abby grabbed her mom’s hand as they walked out the door.

Abby and her mother chatted lightly as they made their way to the store. Abby was barely aware of the fact she was nibbling on her thumbnail.

“You think we could set it up right when we get home?” Abby eagerly said, her eyes wide with hope her mother would say yes.

“Hmm… Well didn’t you tell me the other night you had to do something today?” Her mother said, cocking her head slightly to the left. Abby suddenly looked off into space. She did have something today, what was it though?

“It wasn’t something I had to pick up, it wasn’t something…” As she started to think harder, thoughts of what she saw on the TV earlier started creeping into her mind. Her mind started floating again to those images of people in diapers, happily sucking down a full bottle. The dumb grins, and happy giggles as their diapers slowly started to discolor.  She just stared into space as her mind buzzed with these thoughts. “but what about my diaper…” she lazily thought as her hand shot to her crotch to feel for padding. The sudden motion, and her mother’s voice snapped her out of the haze.

“Oh Honey, I told you not suck on your thumb so much.” Her mother groaned, popping her daughter’s thumb out of her mouth. Abby’s face filled with shock.

“Oh uh yeah… sorry, sorry mommy- I.. I mean mom.” Abby said, shaking her head. “God that was fucking weird.” She thought to herself, “Why the hell would I be wearing a diaper?” She nervously giggled to herself. The car ride ended shortly after that as they pulled into the parking lot.

Abby busted through her front door, the large pink cardboard box tight in her hands. “Altered Brain Virtual Reality” was written in crayon drawn letters on all sides of the box.

“Alright let’s get this thing set up!” Abby said, tearing open the box and plugging in wires to the TV.

“Woah, Woah slow down there Abby. Why don’t we have lunch first?” She said, making her way into the kitchen. Abby groaned as she dropped the cables she held in her hand. “Oh hush you” her mother retorted, waving her hand as she opened the fridge. “I can heat up the chickpea soup you made the other night. You said it was alright, didn’t you?” She said, taking the large bowl out of the fridge. “You know, I’ve been proud of you for sticking with your diet food for so long. You haven’t strayed for a few months now and I’ve actually—”

“Nah, I don’t want that” Abby said without even thinking. The two-look at one another oddly.

“Well… okay um, what else…. Oo! You have that spinach wrap from—”

“Nah, not that either” Abby said, her face slightly shocked. “What am I saying? I fucking love spinach wraps” she thought.

“Well then what do you want?”

“Chicken nuggets!!” Abby almost yelled, her bewilderment melted into a smile as her mind started to warm again. “Yeah! That’ll be so yummy” she thought, “I can cheat once on my diet.” A smile started to grow across her mother’s face as well.

“Okay honey! You go get your game set up, and I’ll heat up some nuggies for you okay?”

“Okay!” Abby said back, her glee obvious as she went back to digging things out of her box. Her mind feeling a little swimmy as she pulled the controllers out of the box. It wasn’t long until the smell of baked chicken started to permeate through the room.

“Aaand DONE!” Abby said, happily plugging in the last chord. A plate of chicken nugget crumbs with used ketchup was laying on the side table next to Abby. Her mouth and shirt, covered in nugget crumbs, with an obvious ketchup smear across her left cheek. “Ready to play mom?!” She said, grabbing the headset. Her mother entered the room with a wet rag.

“Oh Honey, you’re too old to be this messy.” She said, wiping the mess off her daughter’s face. Abby didn’t even acknowledge her, she kept gathering the equipment.  “Honestly Abby, you’ve been kinda strange today. I mean you didn’t even go to scho—” Suddenly Abby’s mom stopped talking as her vision went dark.

“There!” Abby said, flipping on the machine as she put her own headset on…

A white screen greeted her vision. “Welcome, to Altered Brain Reality.” A soft female voice said, “For your own safety, it is not recommended to play for more than two hours. Enjoy your bliss.” The white screen melted, as her living room came back into focus.

“…. Am I supposed to feel anything Abby? This is just our living room.” Her mother said, her head spinning around looking at the room, finally focusing her gaze on Abby.

“Uh.. I tink so mommy.” Abby’s hands shot to her mouth, a gasp escaping her lips. “What the… fuck..?” She thought, “Wha… why I say that?” Her mind wondered, but suddenly found it a little difficult to reason why that was a bad thing. “She is my.. mommy though…” her mind wondered, feeling the warm fog beginning to return. She felt a slight giggle escape her lips, “Hehe, mommy” Just thinking the word made her feel giddy.

“Mommy” she said, another giggle. “Hehe.. Mommy!” giggle giggle, she began jumping up and down, pure joy filling her “Mommy! Mommy! Momma!”

“Baby girl!” Abby’s mom said, throwing her hands open, the two embracing in a tight hug. “You’re so loving today! What has gotten into my little june-bug?”

“Heheh, me no june-bug mommy!” she said, cocking her head a little at the end of that. “God, this is fucking strong” she thought to herself, her mind felt light. “Maybe I should turn it dow-“ The images of people in diapers began flooding back into her mind. Pink, warm baby bottles swirled in her head, a smile growing across her face.

“Heheh, me get to be one of dem now.” She said, suddenly feeling her butt, disappointment filling her when it wasn’t greeted to a thick padding. “Me know how to get diapies…” She said in her haze.

“What did you say there Honey?” Her mom said, a warm smile around her face. Abby just giggled, looking down at her crotch.

“Diapey time.” She said to herself, and closing her eyes. Suddenly, a slight sigh escaped her lips….
