There is one reason why I'm focusing so much on usability in these first Retroquad releases done through Patreon.

The more its userbase grows, the more actionable feedback I'll get. And in such projects, most of the feedback is simply about getting things to work at all, and not about working well.

So, I am focusing firstly on things that could hinder people from using the engine. And not just Quake fans, but any people — which is why things like making it dead easy to launch mods are important.

Once the user-side usability is mostly foolproof, most of my focus will be on making the developer side of the engine more user-friendly. When the easiest usability issues for developers are solved, I can start focusing on more difficult issues and actual rendering improvements.

Without usability, this engine would be just a tech demo. Usability is what turns tech into a product, because when tech can be used, it can be useful.

That said, I am all ears. Your feedback matters a lot. The feedback received upon the 0.1.0 release helped me to look into and fix several issues already. I would also like to know what would be the most important improvements for you. If there is any specific thing you would like me to look into, please tell me.

My current focus is on creating support for a startup.ini file that can replace commandline parameters, and on reengineering the menu system. But I'm open to looking at other things on the side, so I'm looking forward to your feedback.
