Henchman Twenty1

When I first watched this one I was a little bothered because I felt that it broke the flow of the season overall because the style was so different. But over time, and realizing it was done in the style of Martin Scorsese films, I now love it. Phantom Limb stated that the bounty on the Blue Morpho (original) was collected in 1976. Last season we saw that Jonas Venture made Venturion in 1976, who would then go on to become the supervillain Vendata (aka Councilman 1). And the Blue Morpho was The Monarch's father. Hmmmm.

During the Monarch's "Dr. Venture is dead and nobody cared" monologue there is a HUUUUGE foreshadowing for the season 7 premier when it shows H.E.L.P.eR. I'll say no more until then. These guys are so awesome! We also saw that Battleaxe survived the crash of the Haranguetank. When 21 is looking through the window of her bar you can see her behind the counter with bandages and a neck brace. I was happy because I felt bad for her. 21's back story about how he wound up becoming a henchman for the Mighty Monarch is a callback to season 1 when another henchman asked him why he joined up and he replied, "You guys kidnapped me when I was 15".

The season seven premier is the standard 23 minute long episode, not 45, but it is part one of a three part arc and is going to totally blow you away! I split my comments up because Patreon likes to remove them on me "for like no reason". And I'm a slow typist, prone to typos.

Two things. First, you are about to meet one of the greatest characters in the show: Red Death. And second, in the upcoming season 7 premiere it is a 3 part episode that has 1,000,000 references to the season 1 episode Careers in Science so you should re-watch that.

That three part arc may be the best animated 90 minutes in the history of television. For homework, go back and watch "Past Tense" s1e11. Pay attention to Dr. Orpheus. So good.

The Jade Dragon that the Blue Morpho took from Dr. Z can now be seen in Col. Gentleman's New York apartment. If you look closely it is by the font door.

When you are done with the last episode of this season you should definitely get the book. It’s massive, is loaded with beautiful art, and it’s an interview for every episode created through season 6. It’s as rewarding as an entire season and will give you great insight into how Doc and Jackson think about their show.

I love the continuity and callbacks in this show so much. The monarch and crew can be seen in their "old" gear in Gary's flashback. They used those designs originally in the pilot episode, but had to change them because the fuzzy costumes were causing render issues. So now it's like you can see how the Monarch crew evolved.

I have a question: In the Monarch's kitchen above the hearth there's a horizontal metal bar with what looks like sliding weights on it. Does anyone know what that was used for? Just curious. Oh, also, 21's story about the two kids dying after playing the Berzerk arcade game is a true story. Also, also, the song played at the end of the episode and over the end credits is "Ding Ding" by Daniel Farrant, James Knight, and Ray Gelato off the 2014 album Crooners & Swooners. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZSkkP0hoqU

Something that I haven't seen you comment on yet, which was one of the bigger mysteries online when season 6 was airing-why would there be three costume pods in the cave, when there's only two people, The Blue Morpho and Kano? Think about it

Henchman Twenty1

I had wondered about that too. It does have a purpose. Wait for season 7, episode 3.

Hey henchman how many times have you seen the whole show I feel like there's always something new everytime I watch it, I lost count after 40 lol

Henchman Twenty1

I lost count as well. Out of every show that I have ever watched this is the only one ever to not have a single episode that I hated and won't rewatch. The one episode I might hesitate to rewatch is "Guess Who's Coming To State Dinner", which most fans agree is the weakest one, but even still it's not even close to being as bad as the clunkers on other shows. The show also holds up better over time than some of the shows I grew up on and used to think were cool, but now seem lame in hindsight when I try and revisit them now. "Tales of the Gold Monkey" being one of the other few exceptions to that.
