Told you! Siler's Year of Hell! 😂 The gun was the "Carter Special," an Olympic Arms K23B "Stubby" carbine with a couple of other gun bits mashed onto it. A custom-build because it was harder to get P90 props during the Iraq War (I don't know why a real war would make it harder to get prop weapons, but hey...)

Timothy Nikiforovs

it wasn't the props that were harder to get, it was the 5.7x28mm blanks that were being used up in training exercises. 5.56mm rounds are incredibly common so much easier and cheaper to get, hence Carter's weird gun.

I love this episode, too. Felger is kinda funny. Like his dynamic with Jack and Sam.

Probably one of my favorite episodes, from this point of the series i dont even know if those two Felger episodes even happened or were a delusion and i love it. SG's ability to tie old threads, Carter's new gun/command authority and Great comedic dialogue while maintaining high stakes, And Felger <3 <3 <3 "It was the Virus!"... moves face closer to camera ... "FELGER'S VIRUS!?, I TOLD YOU NOT TO TRUST THAT BROWNOSING LITTLE WEASEL!"

This is a general stargate question but I've gotta ask it at some point: are you planning on alternating SG-1 and the spinoff show's episodes starting next season? There are events from time to time that cross between the shows, so it's worth doing.

Timothy Nikiforovs

It's being handled. We'll inform him what he needs to do and when. Until then try and avoid namedropping things that might give away plot details. The consensus is that the release schedule is the best way to go for the most part.

Carter "it was the virus" O'Neill "FelGEr'S ViRuS!?!?!" I don't know why, but O'Neill is always so.....extra whenever he talks into a camera. With his vest radio, totally normal, but when it's the malp or another camera, he always talks way louder and has a certain extra flair as well. REALLY gets his face in there too. Revisions, Double Jeopardy, Space Race and a bunch of other examples exist. Yeah, this episode tends to get a mixed response. On the one hand it's a very high stakes episode, but on the other I think Felger is a bit too cringe for some, with his awkwardness (the guy put his fuckin pants on backwards when Carter came over for cryin out loud) and daydreams. Gotta admire his brilliance though, even if it is unfocused. I mean when I was a kid I got my thumb stuck in an escalator where the handrail goes back in and got a good shock before my brother hit the emergency stop. Must have shorted something out because they had the thing torn down a couple days later when we went through that subway station again. I was pretty proud of that, but this guy shuts down a millions of years old interstellar gate network with a few lines of code(and admittedly some help from Ba'al). That's an impressive screwup. Still, the SGC now has their own Al'Kesh. Presumably the Prommie is more powerful, but last we heard still stranded on Tagrea. There are still some bugs to work out of the design. In the mean time as long as they can find and remove the recall device, they have a fairly sizable ship with a cloak to add to their arsenal. You could extract teams that get cut off from the gate, offer fire support on certain missions, spy on the goa'uld, etc.... It's a useful asset to be sure. Next ep is a pretty good one. Very well executed IMO, and after that things really kick off. S7 is definitely a rollercoaster ride of a season. Thus far we've had a few fun loops and turns, and the last few eps have been like that slow ascent to the big drop. The back half of the season is a hell of a ride.

Wouldn't only the Al'Kesh's made or used by Apophis have the recal device, not all Al'keshs's everywhere, so if the Al'Kesh was a captured one by Ba'al or some other Goa'uld, it shouldn't have a recal device.

Brent Justice

Yeah I can see big implications for this virus thing in the future, though he did say he patched the DHDs so this can't happen again, but, ya never know. Interesting concept how the gates dial each other to update. It makess sense. And I really like how ours is not affected cause we don't use a DHD. It really sets Earth apart.

I just love the homages to the Red Green Show.....loved watching that show

Jack still has that scar on his eye brow from season 1??? Wow that's a inside deep pull by the makeup department

Daryl

Man I wouldn't want to be waiting in line on that Ancient's customer service helpline....

Maybe this episode will play better rewatching it now, as it's one I usually skip. Don't remember caring for it all that much...even with the future implications.

I have mixed feelings about this episode. On the one hand the idea of Avenger and Ba'al modifying it is very smart and the episode has some humor, but a lot of that humor is really cringy and stereotypical in all the wrong ways. I also think seeing Coombs again might've improved the episode. The reason why Sam and Jay had to travel to the planet that was originally targeted with the virus didn't make any sense. Why should it matter how many lines of code there are? Did the Ancients not implement a search function?? Since the virus was spreading outwards from the first affected gate, would it eventually have reached gates outside the milky way, like in Ida? On the one hand the gates can't normally dial other galaxies without an external power source, but on the other hand they would need to have correlative updates with those distant gates too or eventually they won't be able to call each other anymore.
