Obligatory mention of how fantastic the casting of young Chuck is

Taya

his voice and cadence is EXACTLY like Chuck's!!

Shadoe Price

Chuck telling Jimmy that he never mattered to him contradicts what we see at the beginning: Chuck reading to Jimmy when they were kids, and also the first episode of the season where Chuck is clearly hurt when Jimmy doesn't remember that it was Chuck that read him the book. I think that Chuck is just trying to cut Jimmy out of his life permanently but ends up doing so in such a cruel and low way that a part of him realizes that on some level it was wrong even if he feels that Jimmy deserves it. I certainly don't think that Chuck was planning to kill himself when he says that to Jimmy. He doesn't start relapsing until later that night, and we see that he refuses to write in his notebook about why he's feeling his symptoms (because he can never be truly honest with himself about all of his complicated feelings for his brother). From there he just keeps spiraling more and more. This was just the extra push on top of everything going on with Howard and HHM. And that's another fucked up layer to this whole thing because if Jimmy didn't go there to try to mend things between them (or as Gus said to Mike earlier this season "correct something that cannot be corrected") would Chuck have spiraled out like this? He'd had a setback but he still had his electricity going, he still had his appointments with the doctor scheduled. By doing the "right thing" Jimmy ended up causing even more trouble because by this point Jimmy just existing in the same space with Chuck is poisonous for him.

I never picked up that Chuck was going to end his life, after he said that Jimmy never meant all that much to him, I just assumed Chuck only wanted to be an asshole. Saying that horrible thing then killing himself, he must've wanted to inflict maximum pain on Jimmy.

And, somehow, even after all this excellence, it keeps getting better!

Note on that particular electric meter that Chuck was obsessing about: There's a disc below the numbers that spins around slowly and a thick black mark on the disc so you can tell it's moving. It spins faster when electricity is being consumed faster. When it's not moving, the house isn't using any electricity. Chuck was obsessing, not because of the numbers, but because he thought everything was shut off, but he could still see the disc turning every time he came back to check.

I don’t know that killing himself was meant as a weapon against Jimmy. I think he just finally realized he had pushed away every living person that ever cared about him and he felt like there wasn’t anything left. His electricity issues were always just physical manifestations of the emotional pain he felt. Maybe he was able to finally understand that connection in his final moment, but at that point it was too late.

I disagree. I think the show loses a big part of what made it so special with the loss of Chuck.

If you remember Chuck's last conversation with the doctor, he said he wanted music to fill his house and he wanted a big party with all his friends. It was such a happy moment because he was thinking purely about the joy he could have after getting over his illness. But in the end he did fill his house with music, but not to celebrate. He used it as a tool to try and hurt Jimmy- to make Jimmy feel like Chuck was better off without him. Ironically it was Jimmy who he needed the most. Chuck never got that dinner party. So sad.

It seems like every time I watch you, I think you're the smartest reactors I've watched

One of the main reasons why Chuck killed himself was that he wanted to get rid of all the sources of electricity around him. When he was done with the house, the last source of electricity he needed to shut down was in his own brain.

Top 5 shows... 1. Attack on Titan, many go beyond considering this just an anime. 2. LOST 3. Better Call Saul 4. Breaking Bad 5. Steins;Gate, I consider this anime above many shows.

Danny

a few years back and death note would also be on that list. back when i first started watching it, it was the type of show even non anime watchers seen or at least heard about.

"You've never mattered all that much to me" is in my opinion the most brutal thing ever said in all of BB and BCS.

I always felt that Chuck's last conversation with Jimmy had a lot of projection from Chuck, that's for a lot of it he's actually talking about himself, and how much he hates himself, that he's going to keep hurting everyone around him, he's never going to change. These are things that apply to Chuck just as much as they apply to Jimmy. I think that saying these things out loud, and realizing how much he hates himself is what really sparked his downward spiral.

maybe but i always took as he genuinely means it towards jimmy but he doesnt realise how hypocritical hes being, they both as bad as eachother despite their methods being different, jimmy feels more though

I was just about to post this. Nowadays these meters are digital but back in the day that's how they worked.
