This episode has been hyped up for a long while, and I finally see why. Someone give Roy a hug for me. Definitely interested to hear how you all feel about Envy though, because I am still trying to process it.

no idea if they ever said it in the manga but one thought about father's "pipes" what if he not "can" block alchemy but "is" permanent blocking it / its original energy source and sends of his own energy through the pipes and that is what alchemists use so in that one episode he "2x" blocked it the original source and his own power

I think you're spot on with Scar. To add on to what the other commenters were saying, I think Envy's jealousy is truly important for the whole series and its message on humanity. Envy sees homunculi as these superior beings, capable of anything and complete on their own, not needing anything or anyone. Humans, on the other hand, clearly *do* need someone else, since they can't survive on their own, and without support, they spiral downward into darkness (into wrath, sloth, and so on). So, on the surface, it looks like humans are weak because they are in greater need, but at the same time, humans are actually quite strong because they have the capacity (+desire, and strength of will) to *satisfy* that need for others. By being there for each other, the collective whole of humanity is able to achieve far more than what they would as individuals. Homunculi were made from humans, and as much as Envy and Father would deny it, they share their desire for companionship, family, and mutual support, and yet unlike humans, they don't provide that to each other. They don't try to support and console or help deal with doubt and self-discovery, and they never will, because they all think of themselves as "perfect" or "higher" beings that should no longer have any need for the very thing that they desire most.
